    Protest, Riot, Curfew

Stack enough TNT in your house, and you make yourself much more susceptible to the danger of a random spark.

I think Kings means silent by lockdown cheerleaders.

You have about the same probability of getting hurt by rioters or by covid-19. One irrational fear has replaced another.

    Protest, Riot, Curfew

I've always believed that the economic and psychological damage caused by the lockdowns would greatly increase the threat of massive civil unrest. Note that most of the protesters are not black. The video of Floyd being murdered is the last thing a population traumatized by the lockdown and...

    Protest, Riot, Curfew

Back in 92, the rioters were really angry and killed dozens of people including firefighters. The current rioters look like they are just out shopping using the Rodney King Discount.

Norway admits they acted based on panic when they ordered the lockdown; the lockdown was a mistake and the resultant economic devastation was not unnecessary: https://www.yahoo.com/news/coronavirus-norway-wonders-more-sweden-153503886.html

    The 2020 Presidential Election

History is repeating itself. The riots now pale in comparison to what will happen when the racist officer that killed Mr. Floyd is found not guilty. Just like in the Rodney King case, where prosecutors could have charged the officers with simple assault and gotten convictions but goaded on by...

Estimate of deaths by end of June from Covid-19

I would have thought you'd blame qwerty brain damage on the virus rather than the lockdown.

    The 2020 Presidential Election

In all of those instances you cited, the aggrieved folks mainly burned their own neighborhoods down. Seems rather counterproductive to me. Back in 94 I was driving south of the Santa Monica freeway on my way to Freestyle Photography marveling at the burnt out buildings on every street corner and...

    Coronavirus Recession

Have you ever wondered why the media screams every day about the millions of unemployment claims but does not mention every one of those claim filers gets $600 a week free money on top of UI benefits while encouraging people not to pay rent?

    Coronavirus Recession

A couple good friends of mine are refusing their employers call for them to work because they are getting $600 per week free money in addition to unemployment so they are making almost as much doing nothing as working. These are work at home jobs so its not an issue of fear of the virus that is...

    coronavirus

Aesop warned us in the 6th century BC (sorry Ken  :) ) about the boy who cried wolf. By deliberately spreading outlandishly false warnings hoping to scare people into changing their behavior, the government has become Aesop's "boy". When the wolf finally comes, no one will listen to the boy.

But wouldn't that experience taint a person's view of the pandemic? In murder trials, counsel on both sides almost always agree to remove potential jurors who have a personal connection to a murder victim.

    coronavirus

Science may never get us to a point where the most extreme fearmongers will be satisfied that normal life must start again. The only virus that mankind has ever eradicated is smallpox. Smallpox has no nonhuman repository so we were able to kill that virus using mass vaccination. We cannot...

    Mortgage Forbearance

The "experts" say that people in essential jobs and people "of color' are disproportionately dying of covid 19. Since that is apparently the majority of TI members demographic, shouldn't more of us be dead by now? Admit it, the covid holocaust is a bust.

    Coronavirus Recession

If herd immunity is not possible, then there will probably be no vaccine because vaccines work on the herd immunity principle. If there is no cure or treatment, then what? Lockdown for life? Or everyone just accepts the virus and get on with their lives.

Estimate of deaths by end of June from Covid-19

"Dying with" and "dying of" Covid 19 are not the same thing. If you contract covid 19, have mild or no symptoms, and get run over by a steam roller, it would be misleading to stay you died of Covid 19. If we eliminate serious comorbidities, I'm sure the number of deaths would be much lower.
