WHAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ABOUT IRVINE! CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
My dog is sick this morning (and at the vet), and I'm a little cross (and a little upset). I was gonna post a picture of a field full of Mexicans picking strawberries, but Deuce kind of trumped me.

Everyone have a great day.

[quote author="IrvineRealtor" date=1212448309]I knew that there was a way to tie this thread back together...

One thing I love about Irvine:

Oh... thank gawd his looks came from Mrs. IR2, and thank gawd we got this thread back on track. I think that picture shows what you love or can love about Irvine. Even if you don't have or want kids, you have to appreciate the cuteness factor of kid with messiness all over his face from strawberries that were grown right here. He doesn't care who picked them.

No question that kid is cute and I like the direction the thread has taken as well.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, I?m about to post a reply to someone who made an exteremly important and appropriate comment over the weekend.

[quote author="graphrix" date=1212452150] He doesn't care who picked them.

I'd dispute that. I'm almost certain he is very proud of the strawberries he picked.

[quote author="Boston2theBay" date=1212364830]Lay off Ten folks. When I read his comments it's like watching myself in my 20s. I grew up in L.A. and matriculated from that little school on Figueroa as well. One must understand that the USC environment breeds misogyny as social success there entails navigating shark infested waters. I lived Ten's lifestyle and more in my youth in the single heavens of Hermosa/Manhattan and later Balboa Peninsula, and would still be there if I didn't happen to score a hot (and VERY patient) "chick" that became my wife. I wouldn't have been able to close the deal if I didn't have the years of practice "up in the club" that Ten is working on. It's all about maintaining a dominant position in the perpetual struggle to gain the upper hand in relationships, not to mention getting it all out when you're young to avoid the "mid life crisis".

Question for those who list priximity to the beach as a reason to love Irvine: Do any of you surf, and if so, where? The only surfing beach close is Newport jetties, and parking on the Peninsula can't be any better than it was 15 years ago. Personally this is why I later moved to South OC, which I found much "beachier" in terms of lifestyle and proximity to good surfing beaches. If I can ever escape the golden handcuffs in the Bay area, I'd move to Dana Point or San Clemente in a heartbeat.

Irvine kicks butt for schools, but is pretty far from accessible surfing beaches.

A joke about Stanford from my youth, verified by many I know who went there: 4 out of 5 women are attractive. The 5th one goes to Stanford.

Incidentally, the paragons of beauty that used to be the USC Song Girls have taken quite a hit to their reputation as avg test scores and admission standards keep rising there each year. This year's batch was positively average looking.

Cut the check, we have a winner!

Excellent post, those comments are dead-on, to a ?T?.

Not the least bit surprised either, always knew you could relate.

Your comments during our discussion of the 9-O, Chanos, Traddies, and the Vulcan Mind Probe all showed the marks of a true champion.

We went to SC, the pinnacle of human civilization; of course we have a reputation to uphold.

Just like you said, worked on perfecting layups before I started dunking.

The experience was invaluable.

To the untrained eye, a Picasso looks like a disorganized bunch of lines and colors and not the eternal masterpiece worthy of its exceedingly high value.

Same principle applies here; the negative comments/criticism never even fazed me.

I?m honored to follow in your footsteps, someday hope to find ?the One? and achieve your level of success.

Thanks for laying down the lead block, allowing me to high step into the end zone.

Proud to wear the uniform and be on the same team with you.

Be assured the on-going tradition of victory and SC dominance in Irvine and the OC will continue.

Never let up!

Agree with you about the SC song girls, have you seen this years crop of Laker girls, where is the QC?

I?m honored to follow in your footsteps, someday hope to find ?the One? and achieve your level of success.

Ten, in my years and experience of singlehood, it is much more effective to take a bazooka and chase after that one "Dream" Trophy girl, than to take a toy gun and shoot at 30 girls at the same time. I am all about efficiency and putting forth all of your mack daddy/MOJO/Women skills (which i am sure you have mastered by now) towards "The One" "Trophy" girl has worked best for Panda, and also it will save you a lot of money $$$ so you can put a bigger down payment on your Irvine Home. Again, what worked for Panda may not work for you.

Panda's .02 cents.

Since Graph is not going to censor any of this, Let's keep this thread "REAL". :)

"Women are like Irvine Homes. The good quality "Trophy" homes are taken "married" and are off the market within matter of days. The bad quality homes (" With ulgy exterior/interior and ugly floorplans) will sit on the market for months, potentially for years."

Don't want to derail the thread too much, but I got sent this article this morning and maybe goes with Ten trying to find the one...

I don't want to derail this thread too much either, so this will be my last comment on this topic.

I read this book when i was in college, it was the best book back then and even till this very day, it is the best book on how to pursue "The One"

Ten, heck, I will even buy you this book. More than money, career, irvine homes, marriage is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I would recommend you go back and read Boston to the Bay?s comments.

In particular, how he honed his skills to achieve a desired result.

I'm on a similar path, although he's further down stream than us.

Nonetheless, I found those comments to be very inspirational.

It?s guys like him who provide a beautiful box out on the big man so that we can drain the three!

Thanks for the pm, I appreciate it.

I like what I'm hearing ten. Its not just the same goal night after night....but theres a bigger goal that you are searching for in the end. Sometimes that is hard to see in some of your other posts.

Wow, this thread has finally made me want to speak up.

[quote author="stepping_up" date=1212218886]

PS women don't like being called chicks OR girls when we are adults :)

Please speak for yourself. When I am refered to as a chick or a girl, it never occurs to me that anyone thinks I am 17 or anything like that. Rather I see it as someone recognizing that I am not yet old and crusty and/or that is a part of their vernacular (as it is a part of mine). Since I call females "chicks" I would be a big hypocrite to find it offensive.

More than money, career, irvine homes, marriage is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Funny, my marriage was up there with the worst things that happened to me. My career, on the other hand, has been rather rewarding. I still, however, believe in the institution of marriage.

Well, he hit me up for marriage pretty quickly so I see where he's at. ;-P

Also, props to anyone who is going out and having their fun while they are still young and they can. Wait...cross that...props to ANYONE who is going out and having their fun regardless of age. It ain't nothin' but a number.

Fight on, Ten! I hear you, and I've got your back, too.

And to add at least one thing on topic: I like that Irvine is safe and clean, but dislike that it is cookie-cutter sameness all over the place.

I didn't know anything about the rivalry, but after a while here in OC as a single woman I told my girlfriend that it seemed we could add another filter... USC grads. Funny enough, I ended up marrying not just a Bruin, but an ENTIRE family of them. I had no idea about the rivalry prior to meeting my hubby. Hearing what they disliked about USC culture was exactly what I had unknowingly picked up on. Thank goodness we have pleny of UCLA grads in the area! :)

I heard that the reason you find strawberries growing in Irvine is that while they are waiting to develop the land, they get a nice tax break for farming it. They don't need to make a living from the produce.

Thank goodness there are so many UCLA grads around.

The more the better.

Someone needs to pick those strawberries at Tanaka farms.

Thankfully, Mr. Tanaka-San was a man of vision and had the foresight to send his daughters to USC, which is why they own the place and not work there.

Great neighbors I might add.

Cayci,

That?s a fantastic post, thank you for sharing.

I almost missed it, so very glad I didn?t.

I see where your coming from and totally agree.

The women in my social circle have absolutely no problem being referred to as ?a babe?.

To them it?s a compliment and not an insult.

Just like when they say that?s one hot looking dude.

These compliments aren?t being thrown around lightly either.

If they said look at the exceedingly handsome and dapper gentleman, I?d think they?d be referring to some old guy like my dad.

Also I noticed these women have no problem being referred to or referring to other females as chicks.

This past weekend in reference to another girl at the bar I said ?She?s alright?

They looked at me like I had a fever and need to be rushed to the emergency room.

They're response was ?are you kidding that chick?s a total babe.?

I couldn't agree with you more, props to everyone out there believing in themselves and following their bliss.

Ten,

Can you post up your picture on this forum so that we can all see if you have the "REAL DEAL" Lady Killer looks? We'll have all the ladies on this forum rate you from 0 - (You are Butt Ugly) to - 10 - ( Super Model Looks - "Brad Pitt" "Sizzling HOT, HOT, HOT"), Heck, I will vote too. :)

INTENSE!!!, I had no idea the tension is this strong between UCLA and USC. Good think i didn't goto either school. Ten, you do bring a lot of fun personality to this forum. If everyone on this blog were like Panda, this place would be quite boring.

You own the police, which is why none of your criminals ever have to take responsibility for breaking the law. An internal investigation will solve it. Confidence is one thing, complete arrogance of imagined superiority is another. Calling my husband an under achiever is just another demonstration of an absolute lack of class. Did the parents not teach manners or is the culture developed at school? I just don't get the need to verbally and even physically abuse people. That's new money for you.

Oh, my..... I think Ten is amusing, not insulting. And, I just don't think now is the time to start pitting the honesty of UCLA against the "criminality" of USC. I'd love to know just how the Japanese gangsters made it to the top of the liver transplant list at UCLA, and how much money really changed hands.
