So, please share. Is the "personal preference" to not live "next to" a cemetery for reasons other than superstition?

The fact that thousands of residents in the area don't want it and there is a site that's overwhelmingly preferred by the veterans should be good enough. Your agreement is neither needed nor asked for.

Thousands of residents? How many people reside in Beacon Park? Are you suggesting Pavilion Park and other neighbors oppose the cemetery? Which begs the question, what is the necessary distance from a neighborhood must a cemetery lie?

Not just BP... but PP. .PS.. CV.. even Stonegate.  It's funny.. people that don't even buy into feng shui don't want it near them but whatever, you don't want to hear that answer anyways.  lol.

Nothing suggestive. Opposition to the current cemetery location was voiced before beacon park even broke ground on a single home.  Its also not just distance to homes but also distance to the new high school.

I heard that the majority (some 70 or 80% of the new homes in Irvine were sold to Chinese (one from mainland, Taiwan or Chinese Americans in the past a couple of years).  So is the majority of the folks who oppose the cemetery, Chinese people or are non-Chinese residents also against Cemetery in the current location? Don't shoot me here.  I'm not being insensitive or making fun of anyone.

I'm really curious especially when the cemetery was in the plan from the get go.  I am not Chinese and I don't live in those mentioned neighborhood but I wouldn't be opposed of having cemetery.  I would be more concerned with the jail (minimum security but still) down the street from new Portola High School...

So did the council really thought swapping would be a decision based on non-fact base fear of just one "special" interest group and want to look "stupid"?  I wonder if the council would've acted differently if the people who wanted the swap were a tougher and louder group or race...

You know this was originally initiated by a California State legislator?

This is a tug-of-war power grab between City of Irvine and Five Points.  Nothing more, nothing less.

But, the City of Irvine should be nothing more than representative of the residents of the city. In this case, the residents do not have a struggle with Five Point, the veterans or proposed land swap. The fact that, incredibly, there is still a power struggle going on manufactured by Beth, Jeff and Lynn makes their ulterior motive all the more transparent.

Wow the fight continues. Sounds like the council doesn't get it or they have a hidden knowledge if the situation.  Potential bp and ps buyers are eager to see what happens.

Irvine mayoral candidate threatens recall over vote to keep veterans cemetery at Great Park

Jeff Lalloway's comment in the article is beyond laughable with zero substance.

?I still think it?s the right place to be. Why do we want to stop now and start over??

He offers no reason why it's still the right place to be. Why start over? Because the new location is toxic chemical free? Because the new location will not require costly demolition? Because the new location is away from the high school? Because the new location will not congest traffic on Sand Canyon or Irvine Blvd? Because residents prefer it over the current location? Because the veteran's prefer it over the current location? Of course, none of that matters because Jeff is watching out for his special interest group, everyone else be damned.

Jeff Lalloway should just argue it's his "personal preference." That should be sufficient.

The Vets desires are still being ignored.  So funny. They want it moved too but yet this is still a feng shui problem.  That demolition is going to cost millions more.

Does perspective work for the Irvine company?  >:D

Lol

TI is the only place he can get his message out.

Between these cemetery comments and never letting go of the double mello at BP, you start to wonder. Then add in the strada cheerleading...

Too true. There's a prison across the street, that will be expanding, toxic soil, a dump nearby, and double mello roos compounding annually at 2%, yet the only thing bothering prospective buyers is a cemetery.

Beth Krom's comments are equally ridiculous and devoid of substance.

?I feel very comfortable with the decision I made."

Other than throwing out wild speculations and conjectures about 5P and the land swap at the city council meeting to spread FUD she offered no reason for rejecting the proposal.

"It was certainly not reflective of a lack of respect for any segment of this community.?

Just saying so doesn't it make it true. By ignoring the wishes of the veterans you are disrespecting the veterans. By ignoring the resident's wishes you are disrespecting the residents. 80% of the comments were in support of the swap. This is the ultimate betrayal.
