President Trump

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I tried my best to keep an open mind on certain folks here, but decided it's a fruitless discussion with the left and liberals. The first amendment protects the freedom of speech. But these constant protests are getting pretty tiring and it's not going to stop Trump from keeping his campaign promises. He is going to deliver most if not all of what he said prior to being elected.

I personally feel Obama is the worst President in modern history, but I never called him a Troll or use any language to disrespect him. Labeling Trump as King Troll is very disrespectful. Imagine someone call you SOB everyday instead of your real name? The liberals called Trump a bigot. Those people are equally bigots, it's such a hypocrisy.

All the hyperbolic talk, all the kicking and screaming, all the "huge "protests and outpouring of support will be for naught. Go ahead, don't like this Supreme Court candidate? Tough luck he will be approved.  Don't like DeVoss or this particular Secretary of State?  Tough toenails they will be approved. Don't like a pipeline. Scream your lungs out snowflakes...it will be built.  This is all theater. As our previous President loved to point out, "elections have consequences." Suck it up and live with them...we had to for the last 8 years.  Now we get to drive. Like him or hate him he is and will deliver on his promises. Protest away, nothing will change.

Yeah, I think most of these people will get approved. And they should, unless they are really unqualified. Some of what the Senate Dems are doing is just trying to slow down the process. Some of the nominees are not being vetted well. I'm not sure why Trump doesn't think cabinet nominees should be subjected to extreme vetting.

I'm not sure Trump will deliver on many of his promises. Here are ones that I don't think he will deliver on.

This is the group of promises that he has already failed on.
1. On his first day in office, ask Congress to pass Kate's Law. I didn't see this reported. Did he do this?
2. On the first day in office, get rid of gun-free zones at military bases, recruiting centers and, in some cases, schools. Did he do this? I would have thought this would have been reported in the liberal media.
3. Stop the surge of violent crime in Chicago within 1 week. Did he do it?
4. Instruct the attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton. Backed down from that one before he even took office.
5. Drain the swamp. Instead he hired it.
6. Bring back waterboarding. Already seems to have backed down on this.
7. Allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. He has already started back-tracking on that.
8. Stop AT&T from buying Time Warner. Back in December, AT&T said it was feeling confident about its ability to buy Time Warner after meeting with President-elect Donald Trump's transition team.

These are ones he will fail on.
1. To stick it to Wall Street. Instead he is hiring Wall Street and tearing down regulations so that Wall Street can get a second go-round at hurting the Trump voters that went broke in 2008.
2. Replace ACA with something that will cover everyone, provide better coverage, have no individual mandate, allow nation-wide plans, and cost less. Good luck with that.
3. Build an impenetrable physical wall along the USA/Mexico border. The wall will be one foot taller than the Great Wall of China and artistically beautiful, constructed of hardened concrete, rebar and steel. And Mexico will pay for it. It will end up being a Swiss cheese wall. And we will pay for it.
4. Require employers to recruit from the unemployment office, not the immigration office. His own companies hire lots of immigrants. He doesn't seem to be changing that.
5. Expand the number of H-1B visas for highly skilled workers. No action on this yet.
6. Get rid of the H-1B visa program. Wait, what?
7. Make all see-saws now always have both ends be up.*
8. Raise the federal minimum wage to $10/hr. Haven't heard anything about this lately. It is obviously really early. Maybe he will remember this.
9. Be so presidential, you're going to get bored. Ha ha ha.
10. Release his tax returns as soon as the audit it done. He's not going to do it.
11. Impose a 45% tariff on Chinese goods imported into the USA. No way that this happens. All his voters that shop at WalMart won't be happy at the increase in prices.
12. Grow the economy by at least 4% per year. Too high of a bar.
13. $1 trillion (public and private money) infrastructure projects. I guess, maybe he can do this. But then look at #14.
14. Eliminate the national debt within 8 years. His tax cuts and spending increases will increase the debt.
15. Cut the national budget by 20%. I doubt he cuts it much, if at all. Maybe he can save some by cutting the EPA. Then we can have polluted air, polluted water, and polluted people.
16. Collect unpaid taxes totaling as much as $385 billion/year. Not sure why he thinks he can do anything about this. Maybe he will start by paying his own taxes?
17. Create a deportation task force. Immediately deport undocumented immigrants who have committed a crime, are a member of a gang, or are a security threat. And that there are 2-3 million of these folks. No action on this yet. And his numbers, as is usual with him, are way off.
18. Deport all the undocumented immigrants who are here on expired visas. No action on this yet. How will he find all these people?
19. End birthright citizenship, only granting citizenship to babies whose parents are legally in the country. Ha ha ha.
20. Urge assimilation of immigrants. Maybe he is doing this in a weird way by making immigrants terrified to stand out. Crazy like a fox?
21. Increase funding for treatment of mental health issues and drug treatment. Increase the number of mental health professionals. He should, but he won't.
22. Put America first. Seems to be putting Trump first and Russia second.
23. Help Haiti rebuild. Odds are he doesn't remember promising this.
24. Bomb ISIS and knock them out. Bomb oil fields controlled by them, seize the oil, and give the profits to injured veterans. I don't see this happening.
25. Eliminate or gut the EPA, eliminate the Clean Water Rule, eliminate the Clean Power Plan, ease regulations on the coal industry, and ensure that the country has absolutely crystal clear and clean water and beautiful, immaculate air. Seems like quite a contradiction here.
26. Guarantee 6 weeks of paid maternity leave. With a Republican Congress?
27. At the end of 4 years, get over 95% of the African American vote. Ha ha ha.
28. Dismantle every last criminal gang and cartel threatening our cities. That would be great - get on it Donald!
29. Protect and defend all Americans, whereever they come from. Sign the 1st Amendment Defense Act which prevents denying grants, contracts, etc. to an individual or business that discriminates against gays. America will be a tolerant and open society. We will be one people under one God. Again, there are contradictions here.

*Okay, he didn't promise this. It is just a metaphor for his some of these promises.

Remember the old saying, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?" Perhaps people thought Trump was doing that. So people are doing unto him as he has done unto others. He spent 7 and a half years undermining Obama with the birther crap. So why is anyone upset that people undermine him? He calls people names every day, so why are you upset that people call him names? A leader should lead by example. People are following his example. And that is one of the many reasons he scares me. People are following him into the sewer he lives in.

Seems to work with ACA (aka Obamacare) repeal since now that they are talking about repair rather than repeal.

Seeing all these angry emails demanding respect for trump proves the point .  Followers want to feel good about their choice , even though they bought a lemon .

Just accept it - you want him to deliver on your narrow self interest , good for you . There is nothing wrong w it .

But don't expect others to respect a doofus in chief who spends all his day ranting at cable news and doesn't know what he is signing . He needs therapy , not a seat at the most powerful office in the world .

The first real test willl be 2018 midterms . The stake are heavily against democrats given they are defending red districts.

The fact is the left brought this down on itself.  For the first two years the Obama admin they forced through ACA on a straight party line vote without one repub supporter. Now that the tables have turned they expect civility?  Having exercised the "nuclear option genie"  they get the vapors that it will turned on them?  I don't think this guy really cares about public opinion so he is gonna deliver one sided rule in order to make good on campaign promises.  If you agree with him, its vindication...if you don't, your biggest fear is that he succeeds.

Agreed. ACA was a bad idea politically because: 1) the Left had to force it through with no support from the Right, 2) it was only going to benefit a small percentage of folk broke and sick enough to really need ACA, but it was going to likely negatively affect everyone else, 3) healthcare costs were rising above inflation and if they continued to do so or worse, the Left gave the Right rhetoric to blame ACA for everything, and 4) there were far more pressing matters during the Great Recession.

Is he not talking and behaving more king-like than US president-like? It's unquestionable he's the most infamous Twitter troll.

Are you equally incensed daily with Trump's Tweets?

Were you in that Obamacare thread when I was arguing against it?

Yes - just defending it from hyperbole and falsehoods. It didn't benefit me or anyone in my family. It costs me more taxes every year.

Have there been a lot of protests in Orange County,  I haven't noticed.  Or are you just parroting propoganda you read elsewhere?  Or maybe you saw the protests in Romania and got confused.

I'll speculate, that it's due to either too much Fox News viewing or conservative talk radio listening. That would explain a lot of the logical fallacies and ad hominems. My high school drop-out brother, who's a blue collar union guy, loves Trump and Fox News. He regurgitates logical fallacies and completely false Rightwing rhetoric with the best of 'em. The response should always be, a nice calm question or two.

"Really, so, what about ACA do you not like? What part isn't working? Do you like any parts? How do we keep those parts and pay for them? Was healthcare delivery better before ACA? How so?"

You are so out of touch and constantly missing the point. You think someone getting money from their parents can qualify for welfare too!

You haven't seen protests in Santa Ana, UCI, LAX, and downtown LA? There is obviously no one protesting inside your house. Adios!

It's a serious question, and you do not have to answer it here; but rather look introspectively, and ask yourself, "Why do these protests bother me so much?"

No shame to answer. Because big money from the Soros alike are funding them!! People are paid to create chaos and riots. That doesn't bother you?

You're supposed to finish alternative fact assertions, with a "Believe me folks! The very dishonest media does not tell the truth, nor do the educated elite. I am the only source for truth! You need only come to me for facts!"

LOL. What's the going rate?

damn I've been a peon and protesting for free when I could have offered my services.

Maybe I should start a craigslist posting.

Why would they be arrested prior to committing crimes?

Okay, why?

How many terrorist incidents were there worldwide?

Why does that matter? Most of the incidents are in Muslim-majority countries.

How many American's died in 2016 from terrorist attacks.

None were killed by people that the ban would have prevented from coming here.

Why does that matter? Why don't supporters of the ban know the answers to these questions before supporting it?

spootieho said:
Are children in those countries taught to hate America?

Wow, what other racist cliches do you fear? How many white children here are taught to hate Muslims? Do you really fear children?

spootieho said:
How safe would an American be walking down the street at night in one of those countries?

Probably less safe after the ban. But why does this matter? Did the ban prevent some unknown group that was kidnapping Americans and making them walk down streets at night in Syria?

spootieho said:
A lot of American's are afraid.  The travel ban helps assure people that we are going to do more due diligence.  Maybe we are already doing enough, maybe not.  Our government should look out for it's citizens.  That's it's responsibility.

Yes, Trump has increased peoples' fears. Then he tells them he will keep them safe. But they aren't in danger. Rather than make bad laws that hurt some people to make other people feel safe from imaginary danger, it would be better to help the scaredy cats understand that they are not in danger. But some people just love to blame "other" for any problems they have.

It is weird that you say "maybe we are already doing enough, maybe not." Here's an idea - figure that out BEFORE disrupting people's lives.

spootieho said:
Anecdotes are also often abused, but we tend to give them considerable weight in forming our opinions.  Every one of my Middle Eastern immigrant friends that I have discussed this with has agreed that the fear is not unreasonable.  I admit, they have helped me justify my fears.

Sounds like you are abusing your anecdotes. My Muslim friends feel the opposite of yours.

I haven't heard democrats blame Anthony Weiner?

Trump talks about Anthony Weiener during the GOP primary.
Here are the funny parts of the speech: :07 to :30, 1:08 to 1:16, 1:25 to 1:37
https://youtu.be/e8aCXjgIDvA

This is an example of one his speeches. It's like a comedy club. Trump engages the crowd makes them laugh.

Trump says thanks to Anthony Weiner at rally and describes Hillary actions during the general elections. (Unbelievable)
