Trump Puts a Halt to FHA Mortgage Cuts
DAILY REAL ESTATE NEWS | MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2017
Just hours after being sworn in, President Donald Trump moved to suspend a plan to reduce the Federal Housing Administration?s mortgage insurance premiums that was set to go into effect on Jan. 27. The reduction had been announced on Jan. 9 by the outgoing Obama administration and Housing and Urban Development head Julian Castro.

So he suspended the plan which Obama waited 8 years to put in place that wouldn't take effect until after he left office? It didn't take effect so there is no increase in payments, right? There is no decrease in payments.

FHA allows buyers to purchase with as little as 3.5% down and this fee that Obama tried to put in effect 8 years after coming into office which wouldn't take effect until he left is to cover costs in case buyers walk away from their mortgage. A dip of 3.5% means these FHA buyers could be under water. In fact putting down only 3.5% would mean they couldn't sell their house if there was no gain at all and not have to pay to get out of their mortgage.

Oh......... that fee. Yeah, ok. I'm getting out my violin for all those who just saw their payments go up. Oh wait............. there weren't any of those. Only people counting on a reduction seeing their payments stay the same. Guess I have to put the violin back in the case for a while.

Wasn't that just a quarter point rate reduction in insurance premium for the loan? If that small change ($100/mo on a $500k loan) keeps up to 40k homebuyers (according to your trusted Realtor association) on the sidelines then maybe they weren't in a position to buy a home in the first place ...

It never even took effect. It was signed what? 10 days before Trump took over. Obama had 8 years to put that thru and he waited until he had 10 days left in office and knew Trump would be in office when it was to take effect. Cry me a river over something that wasn't even in effect that Obama knew had Republicans up in arms. He most likely knew it would be suspended toot sweet.

Samsonite production may return to US after 16 years

Newly installed U.S. President Donald Trump has been encouraging companies across the world to build factories stateside in an attempt to increase American jobs. Samsonite, the world's largest travel luggage firm, may be one of them.

The Hong Kong-based firm was founded in Denver, Colorado but shuttered its manufacturing plant there back in 2001 due to profitability reasons. But the brand could soon return to its roots, global CEO Ramesh Tainwala told CNBC on Wednesday.

"We get guided by where the bulk of our business is being done. Today, with 40 percent of our sales happening in the U.S., we would not hesitate to look at the possibility of manufacturing in the U.S.," he told CNBC's "Squawk Box."

Some of the things that happened since Trump got elected:
- Lockheed Martin agreed to major price cut for F-35.
- Boeing agreed to major price cut for VC-25
- Ford cancels plans to expand Mexico production.
- GM cancels plans to expand Mexico production.
- Apple will start making products in US.

Think any of the above would have happened under HRC?

Pennsylvania is the leading contender for the new 30,000 to 50,000 employee Foxconn plant to make Apple products in the US.  So far, all of the jobs Trump has brought back from overseas has gone to states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, traditionally Democratic states that HRC assumed was hers but instead switched sides and went Trump in 2016.  Reward perhaps?  My guess is that the companies heeding Trump's call to bring jobs back won't be providing those jobs in rainbow land California, New York, and Illinois.
Isn't Foxconn picking the location that gives it the most tax breaks and incentives?

Is Trump influencing in any way the state that they pick?
Foxconn is looking for something similar to what Trump offered Ford.  I don't think Trump will reward people from states who have declared war on him.  California even created a new state office headed by Eric Holder to specifically undermine Trump.

Terry Gou, shrewd Taiwanese businessman and founder of Foxconn, said populism is on the rise worldwide.  Brexit and Trump are not aberrations but represent a trend.  Globalism is waning.  Gou believes that the only way for a company like Foxconn to survive is to start making stuff in the countries where consumers are buying the stuff. That is why Foxconn is investing billions in moving production to places like India and the US.

At the recent Davos conference where the global elite gather annually to conspire about world domination, the biggest champion for hanging on to globalism is Xi Jinping, the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party.

Trump is doing so much good for America.  It's unbelievable.

If a Apple iPhone 10 is going to cost $1600, that will be fine.  Sure it is a premium, but people will mortgage it to buy it.  Already in Asia, owning an iPhone is considered a social status/symbol.  That may pretty much be the case in the near future in America where owning an iPhone is also like owning a Gucci bag.  Only the elite or wannabe's can own it.  It's just like BMWs/Mercedes.

Isn't that true of all Apple products?  >:D

My old man (70+ years of age) had an android phone and an iphone.  He gets frustrated with technology, but I can tell he is less frustrated with Apple products.  Perhaps 30 years making tech for dummies is paying off.

Google criticises Trump's immigration order, recalls staff to the US

Google has criticised Donald Trump over an executive order on immigration and recalled some staff from overseas.

In a memo to employees reported on by Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, CEO Sundar Pichai slammed the effects of the directive on Google staff.

?We?re upset about the impact of this order and any proposals that could impose restrictions on Googlers and their families, or that could create barriers to bringing great talent to the US," he wrote.

"It?s painful to see the personal cost of this executive order on our colleagues."

On Friday, Donald Trump signed an executive order for "extreme vetting" that halted the US' refugee program and blocked citizens of a number of Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for at least 90 days ? even people who already have visas and legal permits to live in the United States. The countries affected are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

According to The Wall Street Journal, "at least" 187 Google employees who normally live and work in the US have been affected by the ban, and the company is recalling employees who are currently abroad who might be at risk. "Our first order of business is to help Googlers who are affected,? Pichai said. "If you?re abroad and need help please reach out to our global security team."

The technology industry was predominantly supportive of Hillary Clinton prior to the election, and is heavily reliant on skilled immigrant labour ? meaning Donald Trump's isolationist, anti-immigrant rhetoric has provoked worry in Silicon Valley. Steve Bannon, Donald Trump's chief strategist and former editor of far-right news site Breitbart, has previously expressed concerns about the number of Asian CEOs in the technology industry.

"When two-thirds or three-quarters of the CEOs in Silicon Valley are from South Asia or from Asia, I think..." he said. "A country is more than an economy. We?re a civic society."

Google's Sundar Pichai isn't the only major tech CEO to speak out about Trump's executive order on immigration. Mark Zuckerberg, chief exec of Facebook, wrote in a post on the social network that "like many of you, I'm concerned about the impact of the recent executive orders signed by President Trump. We need to keep this country safe, but we should do that by focusing on people who actually pose a threat."

Reached for comment, a Google spokesperson told Business Insider: "We?re concerned about the impact of this order and any proposals that could impose restrictions on Googlers and their families, or that could create barriers to bringing great talent to the US. We'll continue to make our views on these issues known to leaders in Washington and elsewhere."

Liberals and the left are now scared and relentless in making things up. The travel ban has nothing to do with religion and Trump is being accused of racial and religious discrimination. I can't wait for 2018 to see more Democrats being swept away from office.

When you kick one way real hard, the other side kicks back just as hard.  Right now nationalism, protectionism and isolationism is front and center.  Get ready for the inevitable blow back.

Trump supporters should praise the ACA.  It helped him get elected.

Not according to Giuliani ...

?I'll tell you the whole history of it,? Giuliani responded eagerly. ?So when [Trump] first announced it, he said, 'Muslim ban.' He called me up. He said, 'Put a commission together. Show me the right way to do it legally.' "Giuliani said he assembled a ?whole group of other very expert lawyers on this,? including former U.S. attorney general Michael Mukasey, Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Tex.) and Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.).

Don't care what was said, it's what actually happened.  The rule is not about Muslim, it's a temporary travel restrictions for non-U.S citizens coming from those 7 countries with high concentration of terrorists. All people initially detained at airports are now released. This is a typical liberal agenda trying to make something out of nothing. Too bad, we are going to see that a lot in the near future.

Recall the Superscoopers and don your fire retardant suits for all the hair that will be set alight after tomorrow's prime time Supreme Court appointment!!  This is gonna be great, fabulous and classy!!

It isn't just those on the left that are scared.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/31/opinion/the-republican-fausts.html

And remember when the conservative newspapers in Dallas and Phoenix refused to endorse Trump? They didn't do that because they are liberal. Some of us can see what a dangerous, vile, narcissist our new President is.

Now that I think of it, Trump himself is "scared and relentless in making things up." What problem was the travel ban even addressing? It couldn't be terrorism since the ban didn't include countries that terrorists came from when attacking in the US. And what about those 3 million fraudulent votes? And what about him releasing his tax returns like he promised to do back in Feb 2015? And when he says the ban was working out great - just look at the airports? Did he win the election with a historically narrow victory, or was it a "landslide"?
Plenty more -http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ngs-donald-trump-said-and-then-denied-saying/

Now that he is President, his horrible behavior will only get worse. He is an embarrassment to the USA.

Is anyone tired of winning yet - other than Charlie Sheen?

Please tell me about all of the terrorist attacks made by Iranians.  Why were US citizens detained in the first place and why did it take a court order to get the detainees released?

More groupthink talking points...

To claim "it couldn't be terrorism" with your reasoning is simply ridiculous logical fallacy.  IMO, it's most certainly a fear of terrorism.  You can argue that it might not be well thought out.  You can argue that it might not be rational.  You can argue that it might not be reasonable.  It is, however, about terrorism. People are afraid of the terrorists and that's why we are here.

The list from an official terror list curated by the previous administration.  Don't like the list, well, you know who to blame.

There's a lot of terror going on in the world that doesn't make it to our news and/or country.  While the # of terrorist attacks in the US has been relatively low, there was well over 11,000 terrorist attacks worldwide in 2015.  People are getting beheaded daily in those countries.  They are constantly figuring out new ways to kill people.  Perhaps everyone needs to see all the pictures and videos get get a sense of what we are dealing with.  It's fucking scary.  In may of those countries, a good amount of people learn to hate the US.  I'm sure there's a good reason that the previous administration put those countries on a terror risk list.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more countries added to the list for the temporary ban.  The ban will probably be over for some of those countries in a few months if/when they have come up with a better vetting process.

tim said:

Why are you so concerned about that?

tim said:

Because people can and will dishonestly attack every single detail on those tax returns.  I can't believe for one second that his opposition wants to see the returns for anything other than to attack him.  His opposition has been lying about him, over-exaggerating everything about him, twisting everything he does negatively.  If they want us to believe that they have good intentions, well that ship has sailed.  It's all about shitflinging at this point.

tim said:

Are you referring to the protestors?  They are no indicator of anything other than outrage.

The ban was rolled out pretty poorly, that's for sure.  Some people were unfortunately overlooked.  That should hopefully be resolved now.

tim said:

He has been doing what the people of the United States elected him to do.  NBC is reporting that more Americans support the ban than not.
