where is the gated section going to be?

Near the area labeled "orchards" or near  the brown kidney shaped mass?
Hopefully not right next to the toll road.  That would suck.

Uh, that is exactly where it is. The large sections west of Culver are gated--two gates: one along Settlers next to the park, the other along Furrow, north of the OH school. The guard buildings and gates have been there for more than a year now--actually I posted about these guard houses back in 2008:

Dang, OH has been on hold for a VERY VERY long time.

Next to Settler's and OH school is fine.  I meant if it's literally right next to the toll road.  It looks like some developments will abut the toll road.  Those lots suck.

So pretty much kept to original design?  Can't tell but the northern homes along the toll road seems different.  Before, the layout was all culdesac loops for SFH.. now they're different shades of color?

Looking more carefully at the map, looks like the larger lots/$2M homes will probably be on the northern edges of the community: Ivory area on the western sector and tan area on the Eastern sector.

They also plan to develop the strawberry fields north of Portola  pkwy between Jeffrey and Orchard Hills. It will be a smaller grouping of homes with largish lot sizes, my guess gated, and a later phase of OH development. That area is adjacent to the Rattlesnake Reservoir and has decent elevation.

My guess is that the views from this enclave must be very nice since the roads are laid out in such a fashion to maximize view lots. It has a similar road layout to the Vicara homes at Quail Hill--end to end cul-de-sacs.

Interesting link. I read several posts before yours on May 16, 2008 and there were some crazy predictions back then quite accurately pin pointed 2014 the year for OH to release homes. What ever happened to these posters with high intellect?

There has to be some green belt/pocket park fatalities in the new layout... that wouldn't be very TIC of them not to.

Although five points is seeing that and raising them by taking it to another level at great park - with the plan to change the greenway into a golf course, adding extra homes, etc.
Speaking of... I was there yesterday.

Other than that central area/pool/community center/park... I don't think there were many other pocket parks.

Drove through Orchard Hills today. There wasn't any housing construction per se, although there were a few big trucks driving through. I did manage to find the trailers for The New Home Company (or, I assume as much, since they had Lambert Ranch signs on the outside). It was a hazy day today, but the views seem quite amazing.

First, a couple of the entry gate and guard house:

This next one is looking north/northeast off the main road once you enter the gates.

And the next few are of the large flat graded lots where The New Home Company trailers were seen.

And one more...

From a satellite view from Google Maps, the area with the red circle is where the New Home Company trailers were located.

It doesn't look like there's a view.  Are there any view lots?

I didn't venture out far, but the lots on the far side of the trailers away from me seem like they have incredible views. Can't see it well from the photos but it looks quite nice in person.

it looks nice for now because its open land. wait till they put up those beauties on motorcourts. its going to look just like every other cookie cutter TIC development.

They layout of the graded lots that I saw were not laid out in a motor court pattern. That said, I only saw a small segment of all the graded areas, and some areas were flat but didn't seem to be divided into lots yet.
