I'm not sure I understand your rating above?  What exactly is that based on?  What kinds of kids go to Irvine and University High schools that do not go to Northwood or Woodbridge?
The quote above was in reference to IUSD/TUSD/SAUSD.

The HS ranking is just splitting hairs. I wouldn't have any issue sending my kids to Uni or Irvine right now, they just aren't my first choice.

When you and your extended family live in Irvine for years you get a perspective on the schools/teachers/students you don't get from standardized test scores.

You can only legally go to the school you're zoned in based on permanent residency.

Where did you hear this?
http://iusd.org/enrollment/Enrollment-FAQ.html

10%-20% of ISUD students to go schools other than their assigned school.

"The district has an open enrollment policy that allows students to apply to attend a school other than their assigned school."

Its a lot harder to get those approvals than it used to be (and I think the approvals used to be for longer than one year).

Are there unethical practices in getting those approvals? I'm sure there are. I'm sure you've heard rumors of nepotism, etc.

You're right, you can apply to attend a different school within the district.  But, your post didn't sound like that was the route you were taking.  Your disclaimer said you have relatives all over Irvine and you could attend any school no matter where you purchased a house.  Care to share how that is possible if it's not through applying through the district?

Oh I didn't mean to imply I would go to IUSD while I personally lived outside of IUSD. I live in IUSD and I would get approval from the district.

I don't know about nepotism but there probably quite a few people who use address of relatives to get into IUSD.

All it takes is 2 pieces of paperwork, and one can be your employment paystub. (These days who actually gets mail from their work?) So basically you get 1 utility put in your name and you're in IUSD.

The relative issue is allegedly rampant. (I personally haven't seen it but I hear about it all the time). I've actually wondered if there aren't people who've made arrangements with non-relatives in exchange for compensation. (Let me pay your water and gas bill for you... just put my name on it...) I'd never do that just for water/gas bill. Now if you offered to pay my electric bill starting at the beginning of summer?

So selection of the school based on demographics?  How will that work out for the kids in the college / university years when they are exposed to people from all walks of life who they are not used to dealing with?
Sending your kid to any of those four schools will leave them more than prepared for the diversity in college ("diversity" in terms of race/religion. Economic background not so much. This is Irvine.)

What's wrong with white people? Austrians have feelings too.

Funny to read that. One guy from this site actually told me he thinks that's most likely the reason (hating whites) why you avoid TI meet-ups, especially one whitey in particular... uh-hem.  I really don't think so. Iho doesn't hate anybody. Strongly dislike, maybe.  :P Who knows, maybe he is on to something. Would you admit if if you did? It's ok to say so.

I think its more like he doesn't associate with non-minivan drivers.  They are part of an enlightened cult (of power sliding doors).

True. I've always imagined Iho cruising down Culver in his minivan with the window down, giving the "Harley Davidson wave" of peace and brotherhood to other passing minivan drivers. But just like Harley riders, there's no wave for those on a Goldwing... or in this case... no power sliding doors.

IHO LUBS WHITE PEOPLE!! (feels like deja vu... I think I was just telling someone else this the other day)

I think over the years, I've come to value my privacy more. As I said, I've gone to IHB meet-ups in the past... back when I wasn't so well known for my 3CWG obsession.

I wonder if TUSD will change the format of the Orchard Hills school back to its original distinction of K-8 once these homes are open.  Right now it is houses grades 5-8 (not really a middle school).  I hear that Hicks Canyon is really crowded already and it currently is K-4-  perhaps that will go back to a K-5?    IUSD middle schools are all 7-8 grade  (except the K-8 campuses)

LOL...that banner photo on their website is a view that none of the future OH residents will have from their homes. TIC is the master in marketing BS!

I agree with your statement, but I'm not so sure that they're saying that's a view you may have as much as they're just trying to convey a view of Orchard Hills itself.
