How much is the Genesis? If it's cheaper than $37k just get it... prolly more features than the Avalon... although I'm particular to Toys.

Not really thinking about the Genesis, yes it looks better, but I want to hop on the hybrid train so the Avalon is the only choice.  There's the Buick but I don't want another American car after my 300.  Just got a counter from Manhattan Beach Toyota, they took $500 off their initial offer to $37,925.  I'm not gonna reply, see if they will bite again in a few days.  Longo just sent me a quote as well, looks like the average price is around $6200-6800 from MSRP.  I'll bite if someone can get me $7500 off MSRP.

Good choice on the Avalon Hybrid

Why not a Camry hybrid?

Need the legroom in the rear, I usually drive with the seat all the way back, the only car that can seat a person behind me while I drive comfortably is the Avalon (in my price range).

So right now got three players:  the $37,925 (MSRP $44,650) from Manhattan, $38,499 (MSRP $45,045) from Longo, and $37,800 (MSRP $44,650) from Hooman in Long Beach.

Carsdirect has it around $39,400 no haggle

That seems pretty good. We got about $1,000 below cars direct on our car. You're 1,500 below.

Good thing I'm not in a rush, gonna wait a few days and see if I can squeeze another $500 out of them.  If I don't get the hybrid, still ok with current car.  Maybe next year we'll get a hybrid minivan... but there's none on the market... except for the Chrysler one:
http://www.hybridcars.com/chrysler-to-launch-plug-in-hybrid-minivan-next-year/

Rough calculations, by buying a hybrid and overpaying for the hype, need about 3+ years (at current gas prices) to break even versus buying the non-hybrid.  Estimating gas savings at around $50/month with the 40 mpg hybrid versus 24 mpg non-hybrid.  But I do save time at the gas station, so if its 5 minutes per month saved... roughly an extra hour to do something else per year.  But gliding around silently in a parking lot is fun.

Picked up a new car (2010 Cayman S with PDK...miss the flappy paddles from the M3) which I'll turn into a dedicated track car and put the RS into retirement:

I though the Costco discount was the best pricing you can get. Lower than CarsDirect and all the other internet referral pricing and if I remember, even better than fleet pricing.

Nothing beats haggling yourself, whether at the dealer (not recommended unless you relish pressure sales) or thru a computer.  Costco pricing is ok, but my last Avalon I emailed haggled and was able to get it for thousands less than the Costco price.  If your lazy, go Costco.

Hahaha  Thanks, it was more about seeing the value of the RS increasing and me pulling back because I was worried about something bad happening to it.  Besides, I was in the top 2-3 of fastest cars and really didn't have anyone to play with on the track.  So I went with a lighter mid engine car that's is starting to get popular on the track.

Hey I want to see how that cayman compares to my lotus evora s on the track.  Let me know when you go out there sometime Martin.  Supposed to be pretty close.

I'll bring the minivan and smoke you both*.

*... in how many people it can carry.

Usc is the only person I know that buys a used car and then sells it for the same or more than he bought it for. Must be nice.
