Just rough calculations, I drive local 30 minutes round trip daily to work.  Spend about $100 in gas/month,minus roughly $50 with the hybrid.  Difference between hybrid and non hybrid is about $1500-1800.  But that's assuming hybrid haggle pricing, haven't tested non-hybrid haggle pricing, maybe I'll hit more near the 75-80% of MSRP range.  That will extend the break even out to 4-5 years.  So hybrid is not prime time?
 
I drive 100 miles a day round trip. Used to have a hybrid, my break even was about 4 years and thats when gas was about $4/gallon, had the car for five years.  I wouldn't pay extra for the hybrid if i was u, unless there are non-financial reasons for doing it.  For me, I hate going to the gas station and the hybrid allowed me to fill up once a week on the weekends.
 
What's the delta?  Toyota is closing the price gap on these hybrid cars relative to non hybrid.

Also just found out the new Avalon starting in '13 is no longer a 'full size sedan' but now mid-size.  I'll loose about 0.5 inches of headroom by going from my '11 to '14.  Might as well go for an Accord or Camry.

does "75% of MSRP" include sales tax, license registration or etc?
 
Fuel economy is quite low on the wants list. And for the 15% that rank it at the top, most are like qwerrty and really looking to need to just gas up less or not have $100 fill up 

 
This is a non car forum so when purchasing a car - what three things are most important to you?

(asking on a car forum gets heavily biased answers (think about everyone responding like USCtrojan)

Nope, TTL or tax,title, license are applied after the agreed upon price.  ALso tax is based on the pre-rebate/cashback price, if there is any.  You can haggle with OTD (out the door) price which will include TTL but that tends to make a deal more confusing.  TTL does not change and should be consistent from dealer to dealer.  Doc fees are usually $50.  Also sales tax is based on your county of registration, so even if you buy in Pico Rivera (10% tax!), you still get charged OC's 8%.

Of the 3 dealers that gave me an offer and willing to haggle, the lowest was around 84% of MSRP for the Hybrid.  Thats after some haggling.  Started to get offers for non-Hybrid's with starting price at 84% MSRP.  So might get a better deal with non-Hybrids

What did you buy?  You're at 89.7% of MSRP, lose about $3-4000 depreciation hit as you drive away.  But gotta love that new smell!

contacted about 5-6 dealers.  eventually only one is still willing to talk to me.  others wont even match or beat this price.
