I think its irony when the Washington Post has the article lamenting the undeserved hostility of the Trump base to the Media when three articles over in  their app is the article about the news becoming Snarky and the banners trolling in real time.

Maybe if we had more such chryons in 2016 calling out trumps lies in real time ( what was the average ? 8 lies per day ) ? he might not have won the primaries and we may  have had president Rubio coasting to reelection w 60 percent aprob rating in a strong economy ?

Besides here is an example of the liberal media?s wimpish behavior in using the crutch of ?both sideisms? and not calling out things as they are ? NYT using false equivalence between trumps grocery store ID comment (to suppress democracy , a dangerous thing ) to Obama?s putting Dijon mustard on his burger (a harmless quirk ) . Yes , they?re both the same right :)

Liberal media in its race to not appear biased , doesn?t understands that People like trump and his deplorables Use the very weaknesses inherent in democracy and free press , to kill democracy and free press ...

Heard something last night that made so much sense. The Right has attacked the press for a long time claiming bias, but Trump has taken this to a whole new dangerous level. The press isn't just biased, "What you're hearing and seeing isn't true. Only I have the truth. They're the enemy of the people."

This is what cult leaders do. The first goal they have is to cut you off from anyone who might tell you how stupid you are. They don't want you listening to friends, family, or anyone else, but them. Once you believe the only truth teller is the cult leader, you're in, and controlled. You then join the attacks on the cult naysayers.

Trump enthusiasts are in a cult.

Trump and his deplorables are trying to create an issue where there is none

And you wonder why ? Here is why ? Trump is the embodiment of the culture-wars-for-the-poor, tax-cuts-for-the-rich approach to politics.

you're right, trump is better than all of his EU counterparts. and we all know immigration is just a small piece of the pie.

Why do you have to always take it to the extreme? No one said the government has NO place at the table.  Just be reasonable with your goals.  Emission goals set in stone for the diesel engine market were pure fantasy.  The technology just was not there so in order to sell any vehicles they found a creative way around the standards.  It was more of a business calculation.  Not endorsing it but also not surprised by it either.  Should there be some standards?, sure, but lets keep them reasonable and attainable. We can strike a balance.

They all cheated
<snip>

It does not excuse VW from installing cheat software.

The emission test is done under specific conditions. When you pass you get a cert like this: https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/pcldtmdv/2018/mazda_ldt_a0160450_2d2_l3-160_diesel.pdf

The emission figures from the test does not always reflect "real world" driving conditions, as emissions increase when the engine is operating at higher temperature, being driven at higher speed, going uphill, etc.

Similarly, EPA MPG figures are tested under specific conditions.  Prior to 2008  the highway MPG test is 10 mile distance with average speed of 48 mph and top speed of 60 mph.  It does not account for higher speeds or air conditioning.

From 2008 the SFTP US06 test use top speed of 80 mpg and SFTO SC03 test use air conditioning system to better reflect "real word" driving conditions.

Diesel engine emission standards are also evolving.  It's the auto manufacture's job to go back to the drawing board and make better designs to comply with new test standards.

Agreed, I am in no way excusing VW or any other manufacturer for cheating.  My point is, if the government sets the standards at an unattainable level than its not surprising that some will cheat in order to faux comply.  That DOES NOT mean that there should be NO standards, just ones within reason.

NYT defends racist writer:

Since when has "my tweet was taken out of context" been a valid excuse for anyone?

If racist tweets are unacceptable, it shouldn't matter who is making them.

Another reason no one takes the NYT's pontification and whining seriously.

Surely you can evaluate what she said, in the context, and why she said it, and compare that to other inflammatory comments made regarding race, no?

Or, you could avoid the effort, fall into the daily routine false equivalency trap, and attack a political foe...

I'm trying my best not to enjoy the schadenfreude of this tariff war, but it's not easy.

?Let me tell you a riddle,? Gibbs wrote. ? ?I slept with a billionaire because he said he loved me. I expected to make love, but in the morning I realized I was getting screwed. When I went to tell the world, I was offered cash to keep my mouth shut.? ? ?Who am I?? he wrote. ?No, I?m not a model or someone named Stormy. I?m the American farmer.?http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...farmers-under-trump-to-stormy-daniels-screwed

BOOM! Trump Approval at 50% ? 5 POINTS HIGHER THAN OBAMA at Same Point in His Presidency

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/08/boom-trump-approval-at-50-5-points-higher-than-obama-at-same-point-in-his-presidency/

Good news for the GOP

Are Hispanics shifting their allegiances to President Trump?

A recent Harvard/Harris poll recorded a 10-point spike in Hispanic support for Mr. Trump. It hasn?t received much attention from the mainstream media, which is heavily invested in its portrait of the president as an unrepentant ? and unpopular ? ?nativist.?

Coming in the midst of the nationwide controversy over children and families at the U.S.-Mexico border, it suggests that Hispanics may not be the entrenched liberal voting constituency that Democrats so often imagine.

Ehh Ghadd!  That can't be true Elihue!!

Ok, I get it. Only white people can be racist. But can the media and liberals please give us some guidelines for applying the "only white people can be racist rule?" It's so confusing.

Are all whites included in the rule, or are the whites who have suffered recent historical opression exempt?
Can someone like Obama who is half white be a racist or does his half African heritage immunize him?

Please help!

Of course the rule isn't really "only white people can be racist", the real rule is "liberals cannot be racist."

Help for what?
In a way you previously made fun of Latino people with posting the .gif of the Mexican mariachi playing music.

(Your previous statement)
?Is Q, Trump's mysterious crusader of justice, Hispanic??

with the .gif of Mexican mariachi

That's a very simplistic conclusion. When you share this opinion with friends and family, and they nod their heads condescendingly, there's a reason; but you'll just attack them as "Libs who don't get it and think they're smarter than me!"
