I could go for a meatloaf sammich. Anyone know a place? I will probably jaunt over to the Spectrum area around lunch time tomorrow.
Lazy dog cafe has a really good meatloaf according to my wife. She occasionally gets it for takeout.

Oh, nice. Are you sure they have a meatloaf sandwich, though? I've never been. I just pulled up their online menu and I don't see a meatloaf sammich or any meatloaf at all, actually. Maybe it's not updated?

It wasn't a sandwich but you can ask them for buns and make your own. Looks like they may have replaced it with the pot roast. The pot roast is served with mashed potatoes and gravy the same way the meatloaf was.

I guess this is where our backgrounds diverge.  :) It's an American thang. The meatloaf's got to be cold. Preferably chilled overnight. White bread. Mayonnaise, ketchup, etc. It's a craving that a hamburger or warm meatloaf can't fix. But I do appreciate the suggestion very much and will definitely have to stop by Lazy Dog Cafe one day. I actually just made meatloaf for dinner tonight except my recipe has a tomato sauce based sweet & sour glaze baked on top. Not bland enough for the sammich.

Noticed Miguel jrs was open last night, was very busy. I went there today for lunch, I went through the drive thru and they asked for my invitation. Said soft opening was by invite only but because the drive thru wasn't very busy they let me go thru. One entree, no charge, they wouldn't let u order more even if u wanted to pay.  Got an entree for my wife and I got Taco Bell. I tried the rice and beans from my wife's combo. Mediocre. I'll go back to try a burrito and their nachos but will probably stick with supermex and Taco Bell. They open on Tuesday

Miguel's Jr.? What a coincidence. We also have Miguel's (the full-sized version, not a Jr.) here in Foothill Ranch. In fact, that is where I had lunch for Mother's Day.

Is this the same company?  Menu looks quite different than FR location.

Yes, same company. The long title is "Miguel's California Mexican Cocina". On the Jr. site you'll see the full name of the restaurant and logo stamped on there. The juniors have an abbreviated version of the full restaurant menu. It looks like the junior might be a more casual service style as well. The full sized restaurants are sit-down and also have a take-out window / station where you can order & pu takeout.

Although it's technically the same menu (but shortened) as Miguel's restaurant, I'm wondering if they substitute cheaper ingredients at the Junior locations to make it more "Fast Food Friendly". I'll bet they do. I think they would have to for the sake of time alone. Quality may suffer. Out of the last 3 Mexican places I've been to (La Perlita, Olamendi's, and Miguel's), I thought Miguel's in F.R. had the closest authentic Mexican rice. My favorite Mexican dish is fajitas. So, I got the chicken and steak fajita. It was very good. (Not available at the Junior locations, only the sit-down Miguel's.) They do make homemade tortillas which you would probably like. I was on the fence about them. A bit thick, almost like a thick crepe, and the cooking temp was a bit too high, imo. Burnt spots. But at least they're not phony Mission Tortillas like some places use. I'm somewhat of a guacamole expert. I would grade theirs about a B+. It was fresh and they didn't skimp on avocado. But it's a little too smooth, too perfectly blended. I like chunkier. But at least it's not a bowl of mostly pico de gallo masquerading as guacamole due to the price of avocados, as some places have done. As for the beans, cheddar on refried beans is just weird. I threw half away. Actually, I still have most of the meal in my fridge because it is ridiculously filling even without eating the rice and beans. After a few bites I was done. The F.R. Miguel's has a full bar. I don't know if Jr. serves any alcohol. I thought the drinks were priced a bit high. I can not hold my liquor and wanted to stay lucid. One drink and I'm under the table. So, I didn't try their margaritas but maybe if I go for dinner next time.

What do you call a hamburger with a grilled hot dog on top of a one-third pound beef patty with Lay's potato chips and American cheese?

The "Most American Thickburger". :)

Most American Thickburger from Carl's Jr.

I'm as sick as a dog for the last few days. Typing from bed. Who sells chowder? Clam preferred. Potato acceptable. New England, yes. Manhattan, meh. Racking my brain. Will probably send my go-fer to the grocery store deli because I can't think of anywhere else. Wish there was a drive-thru.

Hope you get well soon and meanwhile, may I suggest Boudin's clam chowder in their famous sourdough bread bowl.

If you're feeling chinese adventurous, get the seafood tofu soup from Tasty Noodle.  Lots of cilantro flavor, little chunks of seafood.  It's like egg drop soup but with more seafood briney flavor.  It's ps9's mom's thumb's up approval, and that's pretty rare.

When I'm sick, I'm more interested in comfort than adventure.  If I'm sick as a dog, Chinese food, which I normally like, would be quite fatal.  When I'm sick, my soup of choice is menudo.
