yeah banana cream pie is my favorite pie, with key lime a close second.

You should definitely try Polly's banberry pie.  It's banana cream pie with strawberry on top, it's incredibly good.

Btw, I actually make the banberry pie at home with a recipe I found online a long time ago which is identical to Polly's. It tastes exactly like the original! It is fairly easy to make although there are several different steps involved. Due to the time it takes, I usually make it for Easter. I  wouldn't really recommend it for a beginning baker. But if you are good at tempering eggs and making Chantilly cream then it's doable. If anyone wants it just let me know. It's nice to be able to have banberry pie anytime you want!

Got a B1G1 in the Tuesday grocery mailer:

Dinner tonight!

What's with all the spicy ghost pepper in fast food?

Well this isn't "junk food" but I didn't want to make a new thread, so...

I just thought this was a weird fruit. In all honesty, it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. And I thought it was the first time I had ever seen it until I was told they have been around a long time but something happened(?) and they grew tremendously in size. Supposedly, they used to be really small like mandarin oranges! Now they are kind of unrecognizable. I don't know if I believe that because I'm sure I would remember lumpy bumpy fruit. Anyone tasted one of these "golden nuggets" before?

Yes, this varietal has been around since the 1950's.  It was invented at UC Riverside.  It grows really well in our climate, and it's unusual to find them in grocery stores as most people grow them in their backyards instead.  The fruit is easy to peel (due to the bumps), very sweet, and most importantly, seedless.

Noticed Miguel jrs was open last night, was very busy. I went there today for lunch, I went through the drive thru and they asked for my invitation. Said soft opening was by invite only but because the drive thru wasn't very busy they let me go thru. One entree, no charge, they wouldn't let u order more even if u wanted to pay.  Got an entree for my wife and I got Taco Bell. I tried the rice and beans from my wife's combo. Mediocre. I'll go back to try a burrito and their nachos but will probably stick with supermex and Taco Bell. They open on Tuesday

Miguel's Jr.? What a coincidence. We also have Miguel's (the full-sized version, not a Jr.) here in Foothill Ranch. In fact, that is where I had lunch for Mother's Day.

I could go for a meatloaf sammich. Anyone know a place? I will probably jaunt over to the Spectrum area around lunch time tomorrow.

Okay, everybody! I found a way to cope with the temptation of this junk food thread. As a matter of fact, I plan to print this out and tape it to my fridge right now so that I shall never eat again.

A Maryland woman is accused of shaving the bottom of her feet and dumping the dead skin into her roommates? milk.

On May 4, the roommates returned home after being gone most of the day and poured a glass of milk to drink with dinner, the St. Mary?s County Sheriff?s Office said.

When one of the victims swallowed some of the milk, she began to choke on a substance in the milk, police said.

?She then coughed up the substance and discovered what appeared to be human skin,? the sheriff?s office said in a news release.

A second roommate also swallowed some of the milk from her glass and felt something in the liquid. She, too, began to gag and cough up the milk and substance, the news release states.

The roommates then poured the remainder of the milk into a strainer and found what appeared to be more human skin shavings in the milk container, police said.

The victims believe the dead skin came from their roommate, 56-year-old Sarah Shrock, who allegedly ?shaves the bottoms of her feet and keeps the skin in trays in her bedroom,? according to the news release.

Shrock was arrested for felony food contamination, assault, and violating a peace order. She was released from custody after posting bond.

Shrock is scheduled to appear in court on June 2. She has not yet retained an attorney, according to court officials.

...Because we ALL have trays full of foot shavings lurking around our bedroom, riiiiiiiiiight?

Lazy dog cafe has a really good meatloaf according to my wife. She occasionally gets it for takeout.
