Great Park Neighborhoods

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
timeline.. I wonder how it's all going to look.  Perhaps black walls will be the main theme!

The 176 acre Sports Park will complement the Great Park?s existing North Lawn and South Lawn Sports + Fitness Complex. The sports park will become a premier sports park and will feature:

18-21 additional soccer and multi-use fields,
24 tennis courts,
2 sports courts,
12 baseball/softball fields,
11 sand volleyball courts.
In addition, this Second Phase of the Great Park will include:

185-acre golf course and golf practice facility and clubhouse
41-acre Bosque area near the Trabuco entrance
36-acre Upper Bee Canyon area that will connect the Great Park to Irvine Boulevard
178-acre wildlife corridor
Cultural Terrace, which remains part of the Great Park Master Plan and will be developed once a funding partner or partners are identified.

Phase I of the Sports Park is scheduled to break ground on June 25th 2014 with Phase II beginning within the next 2 years and the current timeline for the entire project is summer 2019.

I don't see *basketball* courts in that description, unless that's what "sports" courts is.

And you probably won't see basketball courts on there.  I saw this happen in Huntington Beach too when they built out their sports park.  No hoops?  They don't want that "type" of crowd coming in.    :o

They should make all the basketball courts only "half courts" with the option of converting to full courts for only City of Irvine approved league games (e.g. Irvine Youth Basketball League).  This way it keeps all the riff raffs away.

I hope soccer fields are not in the plan for the park. You know what happens when soccer field + park = you know what

What's up with Soccer in Brazil?

At a soccer amateur match in Brazil, a fan fires AK47 to celebrate a goal. Sprayed rounds in the air for 35 seconds.

Another article relating to Brazil soccer, soccer fan dies from a tossed toilet. The soccer fans ripped the toilet out of the stadium restrooms and threw them from the stands.

Better watch out for flying toilets, if you go to the World Cup... ;)

Always kind of funny when I drive by and see the Mexican folks play soccer.. seems like it's 50 vs 50.  lol

The park should definitely have an entrance fee so that it can be continually maintained like all of the other HOA communities in Irvine.

With free membership to 5 Point Communities residents of course.

Even within guard gated communities in Irvine, pedestrians have full, free access to the parks. Irvine insisted on it at Northpark.

I don't think this is correct.  if you don't live in Northpark, the guards will stop you from entering.

I don't think many people will pay an entrance fee to go to a park unless it had some amazing funnel cake.

lol they do.. well I had my kid's birthday there.  There is a bit more to do there.  So if GP becomes a place with attractions then you can start charging a fee.

That's what the mello roos pays for.

So only people living in Irvine that pays mello roos will be allowed to enjoy the great park.  that seems reasonable.
