That's it, FHR is inferior to Irvine unless you are super biased like SoCal, who has always posted negative information about Irvine and been making fun of Irvine residents.

FHR is not Irvine and never will be Irvine, but it sure is a convenient location if you want to be close to Irvine.

BravoAvo's gyro salads are the closest thing I've found to my mainstays in the Bay Area. Irvine has no good greek that I've found.

How is their gyro meat compared to the gyro from Daphne's. After 3.5 years in FHR, I still have not gotten around to trying all of the restaurants, including Bravo Avo, although it's always been on my mental, perpetual To Do list. Are the owners usually in there? I think I've seen who I believe are the owners - man & wife? Older couple? - sitting outside and going in & out most times that I drive by. I pick up Daphne's a couple times a month. I like their family meals although their hummus has gone downhill recently (what's with it drowning in a bucket of lemon juice?). Their gyro meat is really good.

I'm not a fan of Daphne's gyro meat. Bravo Avo has nice thick, fried pieces - a bit crispy on the ends. Some people like that (I do), some don't.

Yes - the owners are always there, man & wife - very nice folks, will customize your order however you'd like - check it out!

?_?  Delusional. I have said several times since 2012, that one of the main reasons I stay on TI is because of the people. Most of them are nice to chat with  -- present company excluded, of course.

You're putting words into my mouth - I didn't say FHR was inferior to Irvine. I said it isn't Irvine.

Even though they are both cities, comparing FHR to Irvine as a whole is a little silly. A better comparison is between individual Irvine villages/neighborhoods and FHR/BR. There are some parts of Irvine I'd definitely pick over FHR/BR (Shady Canyon, TR, Quail Hill, etc), some parts of Irvine that would be a toss-up (Woodbury, PP, SG, NW*, NP, etc) and some that I would choose FHR/BR over (CV, WBE, PS, El Camino, West Irivne, CG, Woodbridge, anything built < 1995 etc). But that's me - I value different things than other people.

Overall I think we can all agree that there are definitely some areas of Irvine that are way nicer and more desirable than FHR/BR (or any other SoCal city, period), and there are some areas of Irvine that we'd all prefer to avoid and would pick FHR/BR over in a heartbeat. The real question is that middle ground where its a toss-up and where you can debate individual preferences (lot sizes, cost, schools, proximity to culture, proximity to businesses, amenities, age of housing, distances to landfill, distance to jail, distance to freeway, tce plume, cemetery, car-dwellers in public libraries, etc). That's the fun part here ;-)

BTW - the car-dwellers should totally start-up a FHR Library COA (car owners association).

you are the one that's delusional. I never find any pro Irvine statements from you nor I find you objectively describe where you live. don't be mad because I have exposed your hidden agenda in TI.

:o And what, exactly, was my agenda when I created T.I.?? This ought to be good.

If you've never found a pro-Irvine statement, maybe it's because you refuse to since it doesn't suit YOUR agenda. Example: When Iho recently announced he bought a home in Pavillion Park, did I not tell him that was probably a good choice? link Do I hate him for not moving to FR? Well, yeah. Kidding! Not at all.

What you have been doing is called "Projecting". Projection is when a person takes feelings that they have and casts them on to somebody else. Everything you have accused me of for the past 3 years is how you feel yourself. YOU have a superiority complex. YOU can't stand it when somebody is weighing their options and does not pick what you like. It upsets you soooo much... just look at all of these comments. Why do you even care what I think about Irvine?? You give everybody grief who does not live in Irvine -- you did the same thing to Panda, Qwerty, PatrickStar, etc. Your ego is fragile. Your image is everything to you. Money is everything to you -- it is all you care about and it's all you talk about NON-STOP. And that's the truth. You have been trying so hard to "prove" your "worth" to all of us for years. Well, now you've met the first person, possibly in your entire life, who doesn't care about all that frivolous crap and will tell you the honest-to-God truth -- You are a very shallow person, CA Court. It must be EXHAUSTING judging everybody else AND YOURSELF based on material goods. I truly feel sorry for you. I can only imagine what kind of upbringing you had where you learned to think this way and the pressure it put on you -- it's a pity. Where we live does not define us. Period.

So we should probably get back on topic for BR, as much as I love a good SoCal vs. CalCourt thread...

The Peake is starting "high $600's". No real prices yet.

I love privacy & seclusion with no neighbors peering into your window. Regarding what you said earlier about the Santiago Canyon homes & estates, yeah, I can see why people buy there, too. BEAUTIFUL back roads. Very scenic. They have ample room for horse stables. I love the country atmosphere. Untouched, unspoiled nature.

Sweet! Can't wait to check it out. Before I moved I thought  I'd end up going to Spectrum more than anything but we find ourselves at town center a lot more often. I like the mix of local mom and pop places and the normal chains.

Time to refresh on Jay123's buffet strategy  :)

As for buffet strategy, here's mine:

1. Do a lap around the entire buffet to get an idea of what they have and make a mental note of what appeals most to you.
2. First trip is the scouting trip, to take one or 2 pieces of whatever appeals to you, the expensive proteins/seafood.  Then after you have sampled each item, the subsequent trips are to target the tastiest high value items, and to try what your fellow diners say are the tasty items.
3. To get the most bang for your buck, load up on the protein and seafood items, i.e. roast beasts and critters, sashimi, oysters, king crab, pretty much anything you know costs more at any a-la-carte restaurant.
4. Minimize the filler dishes, i.e. rice, pasta, starchy items
5. Minimize drinking, since you need as much stomach room for expensive protein
6. Always save room for desserts, especially the exotic and unusual ones, i.e. creme brulee, lava cake, etc.  Yea, I got a sweet tooth.
7. Don't take too much of anything, be considerate of other people, pretty good chance they will refill anything that runs out.  It's not good to have too much leftover food, especially bad if you didn't like the items you hoarded.
8.  Enjoy your meal!  Remember, it's not an eating competition, you don't want to overeat and feel bad after your meal.

Ahhh, yes! I remember his great buffet guide!! Thanks for the reminder! I remember pulling it up and scrolling through it while sitting in the MGM's dining room in Las Vegas last spring, trying to get my bearings. I then proceeded to drink a mimosa while eating pancakes -- basically, breaking the rules. And then I must have inspired Iho because he then went the next month to do L.V.  buffets, too, for the first time in years. (Even though I have a cruise coming up in a few weeks, I'm thinking about going back to LV when the pools open up and try out some of those places you went last time, Iho. But I'm thinking about going to Wicked Spoon the most.) How much do you guys want to bet some of us will run into each other at Kobe Buffet? Haha! I'll be checking to see if anyone is surfing TI on their phone while dining. Then I'll pounce from out of nowhere. Be warned!

I wonder if they will have a mongolian noodle station.  I am slowly starting to not care for stuffing myself full of mediocre food.

given the right price and a coupon, I typically find myself going to these types of places every now and then after I forget about my gluttonous past.

yeah, I know what kobe is (I cook, remember?) I just don't get why it's a travesty to have it at a buffet.

I really don't go to buffets. The quality of the food is questionable. (Generally speaking)
