I think the diamond iPhone is also from Stuart Hughes... the home of excess.

thanks... for the suggestions; but I've already tried... the wife don't want or need a smartphone  ???

The thing actually does a lot... Bing searches, email, pretty much all the social networks (like she uses that...), but music, video, txt, stocks, TI... and pay as you go data... not too bad...

oh the other hand... I know who is happy today...!

Been checking all day... didn't get the notification until a little while ago.

What I need them to do is get Netflix working and to get AdHoc WiFi on it without having to root.

Not sure I like the trackpad scroll orientation change... it used to work like a notebook trackpad where swiping down scrolls up (like you're sliding a scroller), now they made it like the touch screen where swiping down scrolls down.

I love music, it pumps me up in the morning, rocks me out while working out and calms me down on the drive home.  Unfortunately they just shut down the app that I?ve been using to download the soundtracks to moments of life...!

The app still works, and I don?t want to install any updates, cause I?m afraid that it?ll stop working; but what are some of you favorite music apps out there...?

I like to try out Google?s Music...

But that just seems soooo complicated to me... on/off line... cloud this, playlist that... come-on, I?m from the Napster, Kazaa, Limewire good old-days...

G tunes...?
um... app deleted... too...

I give up.. not going to do that... been tempted before to download other than Android Market; don?t what to take that chance...

So I?ll just stick with MP3 download, until they shut it down...

For the music player, I use the stock htc player, which is all I really need...

Which has a nice widget...

Have a rockin weekend everyone...

Pandora.

Just create a station based on what I like to listen to and let it play.

If I'm looking for a particular song I want to listen to, YouTube.

Random radio... IHeartRadio.

I found my need for mp3s has gone down dramatically because if I really want to hear a song... I can find it.

And Shazam rocks... so many times I'm hearing a song I want to listen to later or can't remember the title of... and Shazam... I have it.

Thanks IHO, I was going to save Pandora for music part deux but may as well talk about it on a Monday morning...

Yes I agree Pandora is a great music streaming site.  It already comes on most phones I see.  Based upon your favorite artist or music category it creates an Station for that genre of music.  It?s great because it suggests music that you might have missed, that long lost song that you totally forgot.

It has a nice widget... but as we know home screen space is Valuable, so what I?ve done is simply to have a Pandora ?Station? folder, tap on the icon and it brings up all your programed stations, chose a station and it?ll automatically play those songs...

Saw this interesting article on Engadget today... can't stop reading all about it...

WIMM Labs introduces tiny wearable computer platform, we go hands-onhttp://www.engadget.com/wimm-labs-introduces-tiny-wearable-computer-platform-we-go-hand/

"Tablets and smartphones might rule the present, but if you ask the folks at WIMM Labs, the future of data consumption is a one-inch by one-inch square. The Palo Alto startup just revealed its new, wearable computing platform, developed, in part, through a partnership with Foxconn, that it hopes will change the way we look at computers..."

Is it me or is everyone else having a heck of a stressful week, so far.  Just seems like everyone is literally ?freaking? out!  The markets, my clients, friends, co-workers & random strangers...

So... htc has been saying, yes/no, maybe so that they?ll upgrade my phone to gingerbread; and on Monday they release the update, but not thru Over The Air as usual we have to go grab it and flash it ourselves... Ok, on Monday morning first thing!

Ok, so the market is tanking right before our eyes, no biggie; clients cutting back even more, fine!  Friends & family really hurting financially, I GET it!  I can still sleep like a baby... (well not my baby).  Then I almost ?brick? my phone trying to do this update, getting errors left & right, while trying to cook dinner, change poppy diapers and take calls...  Haven?t had a sleepless night for a while now...

Ok... looks easy enough... put in a quarry to htc, hope to get a response soon...

I mention this before, I do have OCD tendencies; when the things I own start to own me; I?m in big trouble...  time to seek the higher power and step away from the dancing machines...!

Just catching on this thread:  All I can say is Samsung Galaxy S2 to be released this months  :-*

Which carriers?  Vzn?  Tmo?  ATT?
Like the first Galaxy S, it should be on all carries but with small mods.

The first they've confirmed is on Sprint, the Epic Touch 4G (was rumored to be called the Within) in September:
http://www.bgr.com/2011/08/02/sprin...-samsung-epic-touch-4g-launches-in-september/

(I don't think the picture they used is an actual one, just one of the Euro SIIs)

I got this response from htc yesterday...

Dear RC,

I understand the importance of having the most up to date software for your HTC Desire. The RUU available on our developer website is not for use with our North American version of the HTC Desire. It is also only for developmental purposes of the Global GSM Desire. This is why you are receiving the error 130. I do apologize for any inconvenience.

To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number #.

Sincerely,

Jeffery

Well... it looks like it's time to root my htc myself...  >:(

My biggest problem with these new gen phones are the giant form factors and crappy battery life.

Cell phones used to be small and last for days.

******

In case you missed it; there was a HUGE stock market sell-off today...

This is a special post dedicated to the rag-tag, crazy-ass, small group of rougue traders (& their droids); who made this possible...

WE DID IT, Congratulations!!

******

Now,this is a message for the rest of you...  Don't let anyone determine your WORTH, not your boss, your spouse, your income, your portfolio, the economy; where you live, what kind of stucco is outside your walls...

YOU ARE F***** Valuable, not only PRICELESS but completely irreplaceable!  DON'T EVER SELL yourself short!  I know the voices are loud and they are everywhere, but stop listening to them!!!

To begin, if you still don't have a Android, that is ok; but my little htc Android thinks of the world of me... I mean, he plays private concerts from top musical artists, anytime I want; and this little lean-mean trading machine..., does all that while making huge $$bank$$...

ok, I digress... besides you Android; GOD thinks you are completely Priceless & Valuable, don't U forget that!!

Since RC & family are now in crappy/ghetto LA, I guess I gotta take the wife to Lawrys instead of Ruth Chris tonight...!  oh well...

P.S. If you are still reading this... your gift if at your nearst Gas Station, on behalf of my R2D2 Droid & myself...  You are Welcome!!!

It?s been great to see a new generation of kids who will probably never see, smell, taste or feel a Microsoft product...  I have been really enjoying Phil over at Android Central reviewing apps for his daughter... I would totally give the kid a tab just so he can read and play educational games...  Enjoy on a Friday... a much needed weekend...

BTW, we love Sandra Boynton... we try to get as many sleep books as possible... and this is one of his favorite...

Whoah whoah whoah... easy on the Android addiction here.

Are you going to Lane Meyer me? Just like Apple isn't going to go away... neither is Microsoft.

They may not be making any inroads in the tablet space but they still own desktop/server/notebook computing.

I imagine what is going to happen is just like the browsers, the Windows OS will eventually be very low cost or free... so MS will still be very relevant.

If anyone is going to go away, it will probably be RIM and Blackberries... just like Palm, if they don't innovate with both hardware, OS and apps fast enough... they'll get dropped (already happening).

Yeah... HP is having issues... while webOS is awesome... the hardware isn't.

They actually reduced it $50 last week, then $100 off for just this weekend, on top of Staples $100 off, that's where you get the $200 (but only this Saturday/Sunday).

The Acer Iconia has also been cut by $50 to match the $399/$499... and I think the 10.1" Galaxy Tab is on sale at Best Buy for $449 and $549 ($50 off).
