By all measures Obama ranks as more moderate than both Clinton and Carter. JFK would be considered a leftist extremist by Republicans these days, not a conservative. Recall what happened during his tenure: expansion of welfare/Medicare and Peace Corps.

What measures are you talking about?  Medicare started 4 years after JFK died?

DW-NOMINATE scores, for example.

JFK ran on the idea of providing a national health care program for the elderly. He was unsuccessful in his attempt. After his assassination and under Johnson Medicare got signed into law. So it didn't start until after he died, but it was a goal of his nonetheless.

Neither Trump, nor Trump enthusiasts and apologists, should have the audacity to complain about conspiracy theories directed at Trump. He is the King.

If CNN's New Russia Report Is True, We May Be Seeing the Beginning of the End of Donald Trump's Presidency

Donald Trump is in the middle of a non-stop waking nightmare. Every single day finds the nation's most powerful conspiracy theorist at the center of what might be the biggest conspiracy in our nation's history. And unlike the theories Trump likes to push (Obama having Trump's "wires tapped," Obama not being born in America, etc.), more and more this one seems like the real deal.

Well the day of screaming at the sky couldn't come soon enough for the Dems.  I cannot imagine the feelings of despair when the very gun they were pointing at Trump goes off and accidentally takes out their candidate and vindicates their target...talk about illegality and incompetence driven by blind hate...ah revenge. You are such a fickle lover!!!

Not to mention...

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/453092/scandals-collide-dossier-dnc-server-perkins-coie

Here, the Clinton campaign and the DNC retained the law firm of Perkins Coie; in turn, one of its partners, Marc E. Elias, retained Fusion GPS. We don?t know how much Fusion GPS was paid, but the Clinton campaign and the DNC paid $9.1 million to Perkins Coie during the 2016 campaign (i.e., between mid-2015 and late 2016). A friend draws my attention to an intriguing coincidence.

In its capacity as attorney for the DNC, Perkins Coie ? through another of its partners, Michael Sussman ? is also the law firm that retained CrowdStrike, the cyber security outfit, upon learning in April 2016 that the DNC?s servers had been hacked.

Interesting: Despite the patent importance of the physical server system to the FBI and Intelligence-Community investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, the Bureau never examined the DNC servers. Evidently, the DNC declined to cooperate to that degree, and the Obama Justice Department decided not to issue a subpoena to demand that the servers be turned over (just like the Obama Justice Department decided not to issue subpoenas to demand the surrender of critical physical evidence in the Clinton e-mails investigation). Instead, the conclusion that Russia is responsible for the invasion of the DNC servers rests on the forensic analysis conducted by CrowdStrike. Rather than do its own investigation, the FBI relied on a contractor retained by the DNC?s lawyers.

More winning!!!

GOOD TRUMP: He Promised To Cut 'Job-Killing' Regulations. So Far He's Outpacing Reagan.

Trump slashing regulations at higher rate than any president going back to Jimmy Carter.

Peter Boyer at The Weekly Standard provides an analysis of just how well Trump is doing on slashing "job-killing red tape all across our economy," as Trump put it in a speech a few weeks ago. "We have stopped or eliminated more regulations in the last eight months than any president has done during an entire term. It?s not even close," said Trump ? and as Boyer highlights, the president appears to have that fact about right.

The Mercatus Center's Patrick McLaughlin, Boyer explains, studied the the total "output of regulatory restrictions promulgated in the last several presidencies, going back to Jimmy Carter," and found that Trump had managed to make the net increase of regulatory restrictions "zero." No other president managed to get through their full term without raising the number of regulatory restrictions, including Reagan.

Boyer provides a summary of Trump's actions so far that appear to be making some significant inroads on the notoriously difficult process of eliminating government regulations, the most impactful of which has been Trump's Executive Order 13771, which requires that any new regulation by any agency must be balanced by the elimination of two outdated, ineffective, or overly costly regulations:

Excellent! I remember the years following Regan's presidency with great fondness. The first part if the '90s were a time to behold. Hopefully grundge will make a comeback.

Muller will get his one scalp - I'm looking at you Paul Manafort.... - over money laundering, and perhaps someone else for lobbying and not reporting, then things will pass quietly away.

No one really likes the taste of a big fat nothingburger.

My .02c

I agree... He needs to show some results for this investigation.  The improprieties in question occurred years before he was Trump's campaign manager, and the only connection to the campaign is that he offered in an e-mail to keep an oligarch apprised of Trump's campaign in exchange for the remaining payment on his Ukraine deal.  If anything, he was colluding against Trump by offering that information.

"From in or about in between 2006 and 2017, both dates being approximate and inclusive, in the district of Columbia and elsewhere, the defendants Paul J Manafort and Richard gates, together with others, knowingly and intentionally conspired to defraud the United States by impeding, impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful government functions of a government agency, namely department of justice in the department of treasury, and to commit offenses against the United States."

Improprieties? You mean crimes. Twelve counts that include conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading FARA statements, false and misleading statements, seven counts of failing to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.

What about Gates? He stayed on until after the transition. What about Papadopoulos? He also stuck around (foreign adviser of the Trump campaing) and already pleaded guilty - and is probably singing like a canary. Seems like a large share of the indictment is business related (money laundering). I wonder if Jr., Jared and Ivanka remain unscathed since a main vehicle for money transfer was through real estate ventures in NYC.

Nothingburger. if this is the best they can do this is going no where fast.  Years old charges and a fourth string unpaid 29 year old almost intern?  Better hope for some new cards from the flop.

This is going to take a LEFT turn...you watch!!

This is a moon shot by Mueller.  He's hoping that by prosecuting people connected to the campaign for crimes that have nothing to do with the campaign itself, that they will be willing to dish some dirt on Trump in exchange for lighter sentences.

Papadopoulos was part of the campaign, part of the transition and in the early stages of the administration. He was in the foreign policy team that was being led at the time by Jeff Sessions (during the campaign). This has everything to do with the campaign.

If he can drain the swamp on both side it's a good thing tbh.

The indictment of George Papadopoulos vindicates Trump's campaign on the collusion charges almost single-handedly.  The FBI timeline shows the Russians communicating with Papadopoulos for five months (March - August 2016) in an attempt to set up a meeting with Trump's campaign "to improve relations between the two countries" that was thoroughly ignored by his supervisors every time he brought it up.  Even the promise of "dirt on Hillary" did nothing to get traction with them.

It's not just him. Latest rumors are that Papadopoulos might have been wearing a wire for 3 months while cooperating with the feds ...
