In the end, nothing will get done again...... sigh

you really think so?  Feels like some sort of tax plan will get done.  I say that because it will create some sort of bubble.  Looking to move most of my investments from US to emerging markets for 2018.

You have to believe in the magic....

The clearest part of Trump's economic plan is also the most delusional part

Three percent GDP growth. Three percent GDP growth. Three percent GDP growth.

Get it stamped on your brain. Get it tattooed somewhere. Have some T-shirts made, because this is team Trump's goal for the economy. In a time of extreme policy confusion, 3% GDP growth is one of the only firm targets we have to hang onto.

The problem is that in interview after interview, Donald Trump and his surrogates have demonstrated that they have no idea how to get there.

Take, for example, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross' confirmation hearing. He told senators that a combination of tax reform, a more self-sufficient energy policy, and increasing exports would do the trick.

"Combine those and get a fraction of a percent of growth from each, and we'll see the numbers we're talking about," he said.

Chief White House Economic Adviser Gary Cohn has also talked about the magic path to 3% GDP growth, mostly saying that tax reform and deregulation would get us there. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the target was "very achievable" and spouted the same lines.

Unfortunately, that's not how GDP growth works.

"The problem for the Trumpians is that we've had eight years of recovery," Lee Branstetter, a professor of economics at Carnegie Mellon University, told Business Insider. "Now unemployment is well below 5%, and there's just not a lot of slack in the US labor market. ... It's essentially mathematically impossible to get the growth they're talking about."

Really?

Say Hello To 3% Growth

As the media have once again reported, the economy "surprisingly" grew at a 3% pace in the third quarter, despite the impact of three major hurricanes. Has the U.S. economy finally left its 2% growth rut?

While presidents aren't the sole determinants of economic growth, their policies do matter. As such, President Trump seems to be steering the economy onto a faster growth track than during the slow-growth Obama years.

GDP growth of 3.1% in the second quarter and 3% in the third quarter is the fastest since 2014's two-quarter spurt of 4.6% and 5.2%. But this year's third quarter was even better than it looked, since most economists had marked down their estimates to just above 1% or so due to the impact of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma on the economy.

Those who keep expecting a major slowdown should look at what's really going on in the economy.

How Trump Got the Economy Booming in Less Than a Year

But it is not all due to just the promise of pro-growth tax reform. Contributing even more to restored growth is the reality of sweeping deregulation.

America today has the resources to lead the world as the top producer worldwide of oil, natural gas and coal. Removing America from the Paris Climate Accord, the start of the demise of Obama?s so-called ?Clean Power Plan,? and Trump?s ongoing dismantling of the anti-American energy regulation of Obama?s EPA has already liberated America?s energy producers to assume these world leading roles.

Any economy with the world?s number one oil producing industry, number one natural gas producing industry, and number one coal producing industry is going to be leading the world with booming economic growth. And not just in energy but in manufacturing too. Because manufacturing is an energy intensive activity.

Broadcom moving headquarters to US from Singapore, says Trump

Just curious, what exactly does that mean? Headquarters just on paper, registered in DE, or are actual corporate headquarters with employees going to move?

Broadcom has 7,500 U.S. employees across 24 states, the company said. It has manufacturing facilities in Colorado and Pennsylvania and engineering offices in California and traces its origins to bluechip American companies like Bell Laboratories, Lucent, and Hewlett-Packard.

?The proposed tax reform package would level the global playing field and allow us to compete worldwide from here in the United States,? Tan said in a statement. ?Our move would domicile our $20 billion annual revenue in the United States. From our base here, each year we will invest $3 billion in research and engineering and $6 billion in manufacturing, resulting in more high-paying tech jobs.?

I call BS on this. My company used to do a lot of business with BRCM before Avago bought it. As soon as Avago took over Broadcom, they moved all Engineering, procurement, R&D positions to Asia. They also changed their supply chain and moved all mfg except highly specialized mfg to Asia.

I don't believe anything Avago says. If they buy Qualcomm, you can bet they will do the same to them. Move everything off shore. BTW, Qualcomm also does alot of mfg in North America including my company.

Man that would hurt San Diego. Lots of companies roll their dollars from Qualcomm.

This is going to the SC...we will prevail there.  Mark my words.
You might need a tiebreaker judge...  Trump has been irritating the judge that he nominated.  Not sure how that will affect the tie-breaking vote.

Just like I told you would happen. Winning!!

Supreme Court allows full enforcement of Trump travel ban

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The Supreme Court is allowing the Trump administration to fully enforce a ban on travel to the United States by residents of six mostly Muslim countries.

The justices, with two dissenting votes, said Monday that the policy can take full effect even as legal challenges against it make their way through the courts. The action suggests the high court could uphold the latest version of the ban that Trump announced in September.

Three weeks ago, CNN branded it: Roy Moore's appalling 'yearbook' defense
http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/15/politics/roy-moore-yearbook/index.html

His latest defense against these serious charges? The inscription from Beverly Young Nelson's 1977 high school yearbook is a fake!

Moore attorney Phil Jauregui demanded that Nelson, who earlier this week alleged that Moore tried to push her head into his lap in a parked car when she was 16, release the yearbook so tests could be conducted to see if the inscription -- "To a sweeter more beautiful girl, I could not say, 'Merry Christmas'" -- is real or forged.

"We'll find out: is it genuine, or is it a fraud?" Jauregui said, noting that Moore's campaign had hired a handwriting expert to examine the inscription.

So, this is where we are. Moore, facing calls from all sides to step aside for the good of party, is pinning his defense on the idea that -- for some still unknown reason -- Nelson forged his signature on her high school yearbook.

Today we learn:  Roy Moore accuser admits she wrote part of yearbook inscription attributed to Alabama Senate candidate

Wow. Fascinating
I also have a lot of self-handwritten notes in my freshman yearbook.

Apparently I have always been loco.

One day I will have to dig through the garage of my childhood home to find my jr high yearbook. I am certain I will find signatures of (possibly perverted if they ever ran for office) adults.

Has to been confirmed that it was just the date she wrote in?

Moore says he didn't even know her though.

I don't think Trump's incompetency is the question here.

I just doubt that Isis is defeated just because they've be kicked out of Syria.

This.

It's not cognitive dissonance on our part, it's on Trump's. :)

Defeated is not the word I would use but you have to admit the ball has been advanced.  After 8 years of watching these a-holes execute people in the open square from drones and doing NOTHING we have at the very least weakened their cause.

There is simply no denying that the change in rules of engagement from Obama era to Trump have made a significant difference. I am sure that the Trump haters will still find some pretzel logic to try to discredit the man. Winning!!

Trump, Mattis turn military loose on ISIS, leaving terror caliphate in tatters

?I will?quickly and decisively bomb the hell out of ISIS,? Trump, who would name legendary Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis as secretary of defense, promised. ?We will not have to listen to the politicians who are losing the war on terrorism."

Just over a year later, ISIS has been routed from Iraq and Syria with an ease and speed that's surprised even the men and women who carried out the mission. Experts say it's a prime example of a campaign promise kept. President Trump scrapped his predecessor?s rules of engagement, which critics say hamstrung the military, and let battlefield decisions be made by the generals in the theater, and not bureaucrats in Washington.
