Obviously Pruitt is the left's worst nightmare to be heading the EPA.  The adherents of the environmental religion view him as the anti-Christ and will stop at nothing to bring him down.  Therefore, you really can't trust any of the reporting on this matter.  The type of stuff they are accusing Pruitt of doing is the same stuff that has been going on in Washington for decades, but now all of the sudden it's a big deal because he's somebody they are desperate to get rid of.

U.S. economic growth cooled last quarter as consumers pulled back following outsize spending in the prior period, though solid business investment cushioned some of the weakness.

Gross domestic product, the value of all goods and services produced in the nation, rose at a 2.3% annualized rate after climbing 2.9% in the prior quarter, the Commerce Department reported Friday. The median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 2% gain. Consumer spending, the biggest part of the economy, rose 1.1%, matching estimates and marking the smallest gain since 2013.
https://www.investors.com/news/economy/gdp-growth-q1-consumer-spending/

Well...I guess the 3% is not happening this quarter.

Macroeconomic forecasts have been volatile, like the stock market. It's undeniable that growth is stronger than it was in 2016 going into mid 2017. We are now in the 2nd longest expansion and approaching the longest, yet the economy is getting a 2nd wind.

It''s also true that the pop in the economy is not as strong as optimists would have liked. Most forecasts are that we should experience the best of this 2nd wind in the middle to late 2018 as corporate earnings peak and impact of tax cuts are fully backed in, but then things taper down. We're not going to be close to consistent 3%+ growth.

So the GDP print is both disappointing and encouraging.

I believe there are GOP and Dema that are questioning Pruitt.

Is there anybody in the GOP questioning him that was not previously a member of the Never Trump suicide pact?

The opinions of Republicans like Lindsey Graham and John McCain generally don't matter because they have powerful masters pulling their strings.

yes...except that the GOP and Trump basically base their tax cut projection at a continuous 3% growth.  It will flatten out and we have have a huge deficit.  I am usually not a deficit hawk but money should be spent on things like infrastructure...not giving more money to corporations and the rich.

One quarter does not the economy make.  First quarter is pretty much always weak although it was stronger than expected.  Most talking heads forecast 2% and it beat at 2.3%. Economy hangs over the fourth quarter.  Watch them revise it up in the future.  Additionally, second quarter will make it up gangbusters.  We are still on target for consistent 3%+.  Sit back and watch the magic...

The economy looks weak in the first quarter, but better days are coming

There will be "a stronger payback" in the second quarter, with growth now projected to run at a 3.7 percent pace, which is an increase from the original 3.3 percent estimate, they said. The third quarter also got a forecast bump, from 3.3 percent to 3.6 percent.

If that?s the demo you are depending on...you can have them. As I said before, have you ever had a conversation with an 18-20 year old about politics? It?s shocking how uninformed and malleable they are. Even the educated ones I love are not only breathtakingly ignorant of even a basic idea of how our political system works. Not only that, they are lazy, they?ll be happy to bend your ear with an opinion but few will take the time to vote or even register (which they don?t know they have to do ahead of time, LOL). Good luck with that...you can have them, I?ll take them later when they start paying taxes and actually vote.

Okay...ignore at your own peril.

Like I said, you can have this demo, they're useless till they get older and start paying taxes...then they become repubs.

Exclusive: Democrats lose ground with millennials - Reuters/Ipsos poll

The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.

Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates.

That presents a potential problem for Democrats who have come to count on millennials as a core constituency - and will need all the loyalty they can get to achieve a net gain of 23 seats to capture control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November.

Like I said, I'll take them when they all growd up.  Paying taxes, having a family and a mortgage changes the way you look at the world...

Why Are Millennials Turning Against Democrats? The Answer Is Simple

Here's how the L.A. Times put it almost exactly two years ago: "Republicans long have worried about how to survive as conservative GOP voters die off and are replaced by more liberal younger Americans. A new national poll of millennial voters suggests that the 2016 presidential race has only hastened the shift they have feared."

But a funny thing happened over the past two years. The millennial generation started growing up.

They are getting married, buying homes and starting families in increasing numbers. And as a result, they're starting to realize that the liberalism they espoused as youths comes at too high a price in adulthood.

According to the census data, the median age at which women are getting married is now 27.4, and for men it's 29.5. Given that the age range for millennials is roughly 18 to 38, that's right in the middle of this generation.

Marriage alone can make a big difference in terms of political views. The IBD/TIPP poll, for example, has consistently found that married women are far more conservative on most issues than single women.

Buying Homes
In addition, homeownership rates have been shooting up lately, a trend that industry experts attribute largely to the fact that millennials are starting to buy homes.

The National Association of Homebuilders said earlier this year that the homeownership rate among millennials had registered the largest gains among all age groups.

The Pew Research Center also found that millennials are no more likely to support stricter gun control laws than the general public.

Reuters, reporting on its own survey findings, seems to get this.

The story mentions Ashley Reed, a 28-year-old who said she backed President Obama in 2008 but that "her politics evolved with her personal life." Reed, the story continues, "grew more supportive of gun rights ? lost faith in social welfare programs (and) opposed abortion after having children."

So much for hoping that all the old whites will die off.  It's almost too funny to think that Irvinecommuter/fortune11 believed demographics would end conservative politics.

Ex-Bush ethics lawyer to run for Senate as a Democrat in Minnesota

"The Republican Party insists that one must be loyal to Trump and his corrupt administration to run for federal office. My loyalties are to the United States of America. And I will make my message to the Republican Party very clear: I QUIT," Painter's announcement released by his campaign read. "Given these undeniable facts, I can not in good conscience continue to align myself with today's Republican Party."

I thought Trump was going to Mickey Dees to negotiate with China. (He said that during the election campaign)

Democrats' worst nightmare about Kanye West just came true

It's happening.  Suddenly, a lot of young black men aren't all in for the Democrats anymore.

Black men's approval for Donald Trump has absolutely doubled, according to a new Reuters poll, and his overall support among blacks has risen sharply.  This seismic shift just happens to coincide with rap superstar Kanye West's break with the Hollywood left, coupled with his open admiration for Donald Trump.  According to the Daily Caller:

A poll taken on April 22, 2018 had Trump's approval rating among black men at 11 percent, while the same poll on April 29, 2018 pegged the approval rating at 22 percent.  It should be noted that Reuters only sampled slightly under 200 black males each week and slightly under 3,000 people overall.

Trump experienced a similar jump in approval among black people overall, spiking from 8.9 percent on April 22 to 16.5 percent on April 29.

Don't sweat soybeans..what the chinese don't buy someone else will...

As U.S. and China trade tariff barbs, others scoop up U.S. soybeans

The USDA said 458,000 tonnes of U.S. soybeans were sold to undisclosed destinations, which traders and grains analysts said included EU soybean processors such as the Netherlands and Germany.

If the entire volume is confirmed to be going to the European Union, it would be the largest one-off sale to the bloc in more than 15 years, according to USDA data. The USDA could not immediately be reached for comment.

"We're seeing a realignment of trade," largely because the politics is driving up Brazilian soybean prices, said Jack Scoville, analyst with the Price Futures Group.

Traders and analysts said the unusual trade flows were likely to continue in the near term,
