A friend of mine shopping for houses has a Feng Shui master that he uses. If anyone's interested, feel free to PM.

He gives interesting info. But I don't really buy too much into it.

Just curious, how does a Feng Shui master get "certified" to be called a master and what does someone in his line of work charge to "assess" a home? It can't be the guy's dayjob...can it?

Be careful with being a 'master' of feng shui.  The universe is in balance, when something/someone gains, else would have to give. If you alter the feng shui for other people and affect their fate, yourself have to give up your own to balance out. So feng shui is a 'high risk' job.

This is not a joke.

I don't think it's his day job but I believe he has 2 Ph. D. from Cornell or Columbia (not sure). In theology and something else. Haven't met him myself but I know he is not cheap. The things he says does make sense, especially if you're in to Feng Shui. I, however, am not.

He's seen a few of the houses on Redfin right now with my friend. Offer was made to one of them.

I wonder even if you don't believe in Feng Shui, given the amount of FCBs in Irvine, perhaps your future buyer will? *shrug*

Good thing I'm not a Feng Shui master. The rest, I leave in the hands of the Adjustment Bureau.

That's deep. I respect that. I'm not a full-time believer. Just avoid the big things when I can. I report to a higher being..  ;)

**EDIT** - Adjustment Bureau was a sweet movie! But what's up with Matt Damon and movie roles that involve a lot of running......

I'm sure if you higher a Master that he will bring up a bunch of obscure points that most have never heard of.  For most people you just need to stay away from the popular Feng Shui no-no's such as having a staircase directly in front of the front door entrance.

Loved that movie. The girl friend did not. I could be biased because I will watch anything Matt Damon is in. He's always running because he plays that role well (being chased, not playing by the rules, but somehow gets out of it because he is Matt Damon and Matt Damon is persistent).

Velbon, what's the background/context for your statement? Not disagreeing with you, just wondering where you're coming from.

I am not a feng shui expert at all myself but just know some in China. The statement I made was heard from some experts. Most of feng shui experts are Yi Jing experts too. Once we looked at one existing home in another state, we called up one expert. He used Yi Jing first to get an idea remotely. He said there was some very negative energy near the house. We were shocked because no one told him that just 50 yards down the road there is a small 18 century cemetary. ( bwt he never said this kind of things to other places we inquired).

Here by 'feng shui' I mean actively using it to fix problems,  or change someone's fortune or life. Knowing where a site is good or not is the easy part. How to fix bad feng shui according to the owner's own birth time is the art part.

Anyway, do not want to get too heavy here. That movie is a good one.
