There's another way of looking at it, though. To be honest, throughout my life most of my Caucasian friends haven't really been into Asian guys*, romantically-speaking, even though they were always around. (As a friend, absolutely!) I can't say if that's predominantly true among white women but the earlier observations makes me think the preference goes both ways. Afterall, it's not just about what the men want. It takes two to make it work.
*Adding a caveat: imo, they/we do like Filipino, Pacific Islander, etc.

That is true for my daughter's class. When I saw the class list at school last year, i thought to myself "There aren't as many Asians as they say there are in Irvine" (less than 30%). Then I went to the Back to School Night and saw all the Asian moms- that bumped up the % with part or all Asian background to around 50%.

The 3 neighbors I talk to in my neighborhood are of mixed races (Caucasian Husband and Asian Wife). Reminds me of my time in Palo Alto

I actually know of quite a few mixed couples in Irvine that are Asian husband and Caucasian wife. The common theme? The husband is a dentist/doctor/lawyer/businessman. What's missing?
On one particular street in Quail Hill, there are many mixed Asian couples (Japanese husband/Korean wife, Taiwanese husband/Vietnamese wife, Indian husband/Chinese wife). Same theme as above.
Irvine may not be diverse if you lump all Asians into a single category. But I don't think it will turn into Monterey Park either. I know someone who just emigrated from China earlier this year - she ended up settling in San Gabriel because there weren't enough Chinese in Irvine!
