Because

1. Riverside doesnt want them and that's dumping

2. The insurance mill addiction treatment centers are here.

It is only dumping if Orange County is doing it unilaterally and you can find some random county space to build a center.  Spend like $5 million on it and let the County run it.  Cheaper and more effective than lawsuits and attorneys' fees and much better PR.

Why not Irvine? Even better PR.

Imho, its pretty much moot until someone discusses what the plan is for those that only want 'help' on their terms.

Well..Irvine doesn't want the good PR...it wants to be the "get off my lawn" neighbor.  So, TIC and Five Point should solve the problem for Irvine.

You have to get a spot that the homeless agree to be relocated to or they'll just get on the train or bus and be back where they were.

So..... find an area that has some land that hasn't been developed, pay the people near there significantly more than their places are worth so they will leave and not protest. Tear those places down. Build an entire area with high rise units, clinics within the space that can be a mix of low cost housing and a homeless center.

Tustin Legacy/Columbus Square could have been a spot, combined with the ability to put in high rises near the train station if that new bill passes except they are putting in a high school which they have already broken ground on.

In effect, you relocate the protestors who would only go if it's worth it.

Builders can throw up high rises and landlords could rent out the units as Section 8.

Then you got yourself a new problem.......... where would all those displaced homeowners go? Besides it would take years to accomplish.

What a mess this has become. If cities hadn't been enablers all these years allowing tent cities, it wouldn't be such a problem now, imo.

Paying off the current residents eliminates a lot of protesting.

Agreed...Orange County Rescue Mission is already on Red Hill.  Just go eminent domain in that area...give a ton of money to rescue mission to expand.

Rescue Mission is a Christian organization. If you don't agree to get cleaned up, you don't get to stay there. They have a whole plan on getting people back to work and in housing and I'm pretty sure you have to attend religious services. If you're disruptive you are outta there.

That's definitely something that should be done to bring in a certain portion of the homeless.

I do not buy the the fear mongering by Spitzer but many of those people do have issues that need to resolved whether it be mental illness, depression, addiction, etc.

I mean people are all about building a Veteran memorial there but not okay with building a shelter that would help living veterans.

?Dr. Drew Warns of Plague Threat from Los Angeles Homeless

Will LA get the Plague from homeless people living in squalid encampments the city is unable, or unwilling, to remove?
Dr. Drew thinks so? and on his KABC Radio show warned LA City Councilman Mitch Englander that there?s going to be an outbreak of something like the plague.

?There?s going to be, Mitch?there?s going to be an outbreak of something like the plague?some rodent-borne either rickettsial like typhus?or plague. We?ve had the hepatitis A outbreak?next is typhus or plague.?

Source:http://drdrew.com/2018/dr-drew-warns-plague-threat-los-angeles-homeless/

?The plague bacteria can be transmitted to humans in the following ways: Flea bites. Plague bacteria are most often transmitted by the bite of an infected flea. During plague epizootics, many rodents die, causing hungry fleas to seek other sources of blood.?
https://www.cdc.gov/plague/transmission/index.html

My comment: Let?s help before there is a potential big problem.

That's not how it works.

So won?t you tell me how it works. ;)

I mean...typhus and plagues don't erupt spontaneously.  Typhus and plagues have largely been eradicated in the United States.  I mean Texas is seeing a resurgence in tyhpus...pretty sure that has nothing to do with the homeless population.

That's just a ridiculous level of fearmongering.  It's Fox News worthy.

Do those buses carry extra liability insurance? I know they?re making people sign waivers. But we?re talking a lot of high-value FCB folks. An entire bus full of FCBs with a combined net worth of $25-100M is highly possible.

Needs to have IPD escort, courtesy of the Mayor.

There's no high value FCBs on those buses. They are overseas... the people on the buses are their cousins or paid stand-ins. :)

Why is it considered "dumping" when we want to move the homeless to other cities, but not "dumping" when everyone wants to move the homeless to Irvine?
