You do know that wearing mask long term is not healthy, depriving human body of needed oxygen? SiO2 drops if wearing mask long term.
You also know that mask can trap geRms and if not wearing properly, it doesn't do much?
Wait... so if a mask can prevent oxygen from coming in and germs from going out... wouldn't that also mean it has some effect of the volume of Covid transmission?

You just contradicted yourself.

In theory it can help for large droplets, but there are so many other factors at the end the net benefits is muted, become nothing more than virtue signaling

"In theory"?  You just said it can stop oxygen and germs... both of which are factors smaller than "large droplets".

Reducing viral load is a key factor in reducing transmission... that's not virtuous... it's smart.

Sorry akula... you are defeating your own arguments.

smh

Who believes this? sheeeesh
Is this Mety?s alt account. smh

A "moderate" Trumper with "critical thinking" would believe that.  ;D

Lol.  Not healthy for long term?  What?s long term?  Asian countries have been wearing masks way before Covid, ~20 years ago with sars.

Let's see what those white supremacist morons at FDA have to say about mask. If something doesn't fit your narrative, you guys can even deny sources from FDA, CDC and WHO, quite pathetic to be honest.

If worn properly, a surgical mask is meant to help block large-particle droplets, splashes, sprays, or splatter that may contain germs (viruses and bacteria), keeping it from reaching your mouth and nose. Surgical masks may also help reduce exposure of your saliva and respiratory secretions to others.

While a surgical mask may be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, a face mask, by design, it does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures. Surgical masks also do not provide complete protection from germs and other contaminants because of the loose fit between the surface of the mask and your face.

Surgical masks are not intended to be used more than once. If your surgical mask is damaged or soiled, or if breathing through the mask becomes difficult, you should remove it, discard it safely, and replace it with a new one. To safely discard your surgical mask, place it in a plastic bag and put it in the trash. Wash your hands after handling the used mask

People with chronic respiratory, cardiac, or other medical conditions that make breathing difficult should check with their health care provider before using an N95 respirator because the N95 respirator can make it more difficult for the wearer to breathe.

I?ll venture way out on a limb to hazard a guess that if you have chronic respiratory, cardiac or other medical conditions that make breathing difficult such that your physician will tell you not to wear a mask because it?s too dangerous for you, you have bigger problems venturing anywhere a mask would be advisable.

Did I say people should intentionally get infected? Stop the misinformation and spreading lies.
Of course if you have other preexisting conditions or in a high risk group, you should take extra precautions. The discussion here is about mask and even FDA admits masks have its limitation and it can hinder your breathing. For normal healthy people they can survive with 10% reduction but for people who already have breathing issue they cannot survive. Oh and why don't we ask professional athletes to wear mask while performing? If they wear masks all the time and take 4th/5th shots we should not have all these outbreaks in NBA and NFL right ?

Imagine you have respiratory condition and you try to acquire COVID natural immunity.

Lol at the headline from Reuters. Government can make you to give up the right to sue for vaccine injuries, but they cannot do this to the migrants so vaccine manufacturer won't provide vaccines to these migrants as they don't want to be sued. If this is not a red flag I don't know what is.

Tens of millions of migrants may be denied COVID-19 vaccines from a global programme because some major manufacturers are worried about legal risks from harmful side effects, according to officials and internal documents from Gavi, the charity operating the programme, reviewed by Reuters

There is no silver bullet to containing COVID.
All of the recommendations by the CDC & FDA are to minimize COVID cases.
1. Vaccinate
2. Wear Masks
3. 6 FT distance
4. smaller gatherings

It's not gonna keep COVID away, but it will lessen it.
Perhaps we should stop all COVID minimization efforts?

I will be glad when this thread goes cold.  I'm tired of talking about COVID.  I got my 3 shots and am waiting for my Omicron booster....whatevs.

I also booked a Disney Cruise outta Florida next year.
Once my kids get their 2nd covid shot the pandemic will be over for me.
2019 here I come.

But why we are de-emphaisze early treatment and therapeutics if virus gonna virus?

I don't want to bring this up as far leftists like Calbears will claim it's conspiracy, but what if there are some substances in these claims?
Joe Rogan Podcast # 1747https://t.co/ZXOVaAWvQPhttps://t.co/enpmcoxlay

Israel and South Korea being defacto military state with very high vaccination rate including boosters, following these protocols (mask and social distancing and lockdowns), still are having record COVID cases. If these are not working well for them, why not look into other alternatives? This is a definition of insanity trying something doesn't work over and over again.

It's possible that Joe Rogan is right, but it's probably more possible that the CDC is right.
So I just go to CDC website and see what they say and follow it.

Perhaps Israel and SK would be in worse shape if they did not do all that covid minimization.  or not?...who knows.
Just gotta find source of information to believe in and go with it.  I choose CDC.

And now I'm gonna party like it's 2019.

As are we...going to see my daughter Dance in the Nutcracker tomorrow (5000 will attend) then off to our annual boat parade (over 100 boats and 50,000 will invade our small island) We will have at least 50 down for the event.  Merry Christmas!!

As long as most of those people didn't go to the hospital...it's ok.
Frame it as the 4th omicron booster w/o a needle.

Wait a second. Doesn't CDC say booster is better than natural immunity? 4th shot and subsequent shot every 3 months is recommended

After 3 shots, I feel like I can take my chances with COVID.
Omicron supposedly less lethal as well, so more covid positive cases is not a problem unless hospitals get super busy again.

I don't think CDC recommends a 4th shot yet.

Well we peaked in hospitalizations Jan 12, 2021 at a 7 day average of 127,995.  We?re at 62,232 today and climbing.  We also peaked around 28K in ICU, we?re just under 16K today.

I figure about Jan 12th is when we will get an actual feel for how Omi does versus Delta and how Omi does in Vaxxed/ unvaxxed/ previously had Covid (which South Africa seems to say doesn?t slow it down). But who knows what they?re counting with previous exposure since they claim 80%.

Super immunity?I Like the way that rolls off the tongue?.. ;D ;D >:D

People who get breakthrough COVID-19 infections after being fully vaccinated have 'super immunity' with antibody levels rising as much as 2,000%, study finds

People infected with COVID after a full vax course may be the most protected
Antibodies surged dramatically after breakthrough cases, according to a recent small study at Oregon Health & Science University

Well, looks like the White House is throwing up its hands and going with my Virus gotta Virus approach...

'The truth is the truth': Biden's chief of staff Ron Klain doubles down on morbid White House statement saying the vaccinated have 'done the right thing' and the unvaccinated are 'looking at a winter of severe illness and death for you and your families'
'We are intent on not letting Omicron disrupt work and school for the vaccinated. You've done the right thing,' said coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients
'For the unvaccinated, you're looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm'
'Who is this for? Unvaccinated Americans are not going to be persuaded by messaging like this,' New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi questioned
'The truth is the truth,' Ron Klain wrote back
