coronavirus

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Young and healthy and social distance and you won?t get covid. Blah blah
How about? Protect yourself and just don?t get it.

As I previously mentioned and many people already know top athletes aka super stars tested positive covid. Keep in mind they are in the best shape compared to the general population and eat very healthy. (That is what I hear, but there may be cases that they do not eat healthy.)

Just got curious suddenly. If N95 or + masks are the only ones effective, how come people at the congress or even people you see on TV like Dr. Fauci himself is not wearing those? They're all wearing either the thin cheap ones or some fabric fashion clothes stuff. Anyone thought this odd?  ???

Really?

Not only the 65 year old plus have died of covid. Don?t fall for that trap door argument: only 1% die or only 65 years or older die of covid.
* This is coming from a person that a big portion of his party affiliation believe covid is fake, masks don?t work

That being said, there is nothing wrong wearing a face shield. How do we know someone has not coughed, sneezed, or simply talked with airdrops in the air?

Blaming the opposition party is not going to save lives or convince people to follow public health guidelines.

PPE offers a spectrum of protection. It doesn't make sense from a public health perspective to mandate N95 masks and face shields for everyone. Stick to to the basics and most times you will be okay. If you are in a high risk group or situation (i.e. frontline worker etc...), then upping your PPE makes sense.

Wear the best mask you can wear correctly for duration of your planned activity.

Pushing N95 won't do any good if 10% more chin diaper because they can't breathe easily through it.

Most talking head medical staff, I've seen are all leaning towards we need people wearing masks and wearing them properly.

Point 1: In away you are correct about blaming the opposition party. But we are in the 12th inning and I still hear that covid is fake and people are not respecting other people by wearing masks. Being the nice guy is not working.

Idaho's Republican governor blasts his own party's efforts to end his Covid-19 emergency declaration
https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/22/poli...nor-covid-19-emergency-declaration/index.html

Point 2: The way I see it. I have to protect myself because they have the new covid strain and people are not wearing masks. In addition, I have read and heard in the news that face shield can potentially reduce the transmission. As the face shield can block large particles from getting in your eyes or mouth. This is with the combination of wearing the face mask and shield together. (I clean the face shield after I use it.)

I bought my face shields from Amazon and Lowe?s. (Not a sponsored post)

Dodger Stadium's COVID-19 vaccination site temporarily shut down after protesters gather at entrance

The demonstrators included members of anti-vaccine and far-right groups. While some carried signs decrying the COVID-19 vaccine and shouting for people not to get the shots, there were no incidents of violence.

He said some of the protesters were telling people in line that the coronavirus was not real and that the vaccination was dangerous.

A post on social media described the demonstration as the "Scamdemic Protest/March." It advised participants to "please refrain from wearing Trump/MAGA attire as we want our statement to resonate with the sheeple. No flags but informational signs only.

Hard to make Long Beach Great again when your local government steps on its own constituents in the name of Covid, then is shocked when companies respond and people lose jobs and access to basics.  Does anyone in California government understand basic economics or are they all SJW blinded by ideology?

Kroger says it must close two Long Beach stores due to hazard pay ordinance

Kroger, which owns several supermarket chains, said Monday it would close two stores in Long Beach in response to city rules mandating an extra $4 an hour in ?hero pay? for grocery workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The stores slated for closure are a Ralphs on Los Coyotes Diagonal and a Food 4 Less store on South Street, affecting 200 workers.

?This misguided action by the Long Beach City Council oversteps the traditional bargaining process and applies to some, but not all, grocery workers in the city,? Kroger said in a statement. ?The irreparable harm that will come to employees and local citizens as a direct result of the City of Long Beach?s attempt to pick winners and losers, is deeply unfortunate. We are truly saddened that our associates and customers will ultimately be the real victims of the city council?s actions.?

This topic is more covid recession. I guess they are hurting their community by the extra pay that Ralph?s could not afford. (Make sense)
Don?t worry there is always Costco and Walmart in LB area. (Hahahahaaaaa)

The new hype is the covid variant strain.

Why ARE coronavirus cases plummeting? New US infections have fallen 44% over the last 3 weeks and experts say vaccine is NOT the reason because only 8% of Americans have received their first dose
- but warn Americans NOT to let down their guard
On Wednesday, a total of 110,679 new coronavirus infections were reported with a seven-day rolling average of 135,904, a 44% decline from the average three weeks earlier
The decline appears to be a global phenomenon, with new infections falling worldwide for the past three weeks in a row, the World Health Organization said Monday
Hospitalizations have fallen nearly 30% from a peak of of 132,474 on January 6 to 92,880, the lowest figure seen since November 29
Currently, 44 states are seeing a decline in cases with just Alabama, Louisiana, Montana, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania trending upward, according to Johns Hopkins data
California's 21,451 new confirmed cases on Tuesday are about one-third the mid-December peak of 54,000
New York recorded 8,215 new infections on Tuesday, down from the record-high of 19,942 new cases reported on January 15
Health experts say it is too soon for vaccines to be playing a role in the decline with just 8% of the population having received the first shot and fewer than 2% being fully immunized
Officials say the drop is likely due to a higher number of people who've had the virus than official counts suggest, as many as 90 million people, and fewer people traveling than did over the winter holidays

For all those who think that Taiwan's excellent COVID-19 response was some sort of luck...watch this video.  The coordination, centralization of resources, the pre-planning, and most of all how everyone who was focused on protecting Taiwanese citizens.

I want all those Trump apologist tell me why the American government could not do the same thing that Taiwan did.

There is a story about the Economic minister personally contacted logistics companies in the middle of the night to get the trucks necessary to distribute 8 million mask on the 3rd day of the Chinese New Year to make sure all of the citizens could have access to affordable masks.

Oh BTW:  Taiwanese president appeared once in this video....showing her cheering on the staff and workers.  Rest of it focused on the ministers and frontline workers.

Expect more out of your officials and government.

I'm far from a Trump apologist but I've said this before... size, scale, geography, cultural differences, "democracy", local/state/fed bureaucracy and selfishness are all contributing factors why it's harder to do that here.

Disagree..those are excuses and results of an inept federal response.  Whenever there is a natural disaster, FEMA and federal government work just fine.  The whole apparatus worked after 9/11.

There were a lot of things that the federal government could have done...first and foremost was a centralized response and plan.  Trump wanted to deflect blame and ignore reality...that resulted in a fracture response.

I go back to the mask example...the federal government could have started emergency production of masks on day 1 but that would be "alarmist".  Trump administration cared more about PR than reality.  It's classic business mentality...ignore the problem and hope it goes away while spending money on PR.

Were there issues at all levels? Yes. Could it have been better? Yes. Could a nation of 300m+ deal with this pandemic as well as an island of 20m+? No.

And that's just one part... which is huuuuuge (okay... I like it when Trump says that). Throw in the American pride and prejudice and everything else I mentioned.

Let's take masks for example, even if the Trumpster himself mandated masks and wore them everywhere... I bet you $1b GME shares that some portion of the population won't abide.  Look at Orange County... NO OUTSIDE DINING restriction was in effect and not only did I see restaurants keep their outdoor dining open... they even did INDOOR dining.

Like I said, there's always that one guy during a zombie apocalypse who won't tell anyone they are bitten... America is that guy.

You cannot make government policy on ignorant and stupid people.  There are/were anti-vaxxer before pandemic...that doesn't mean we stopped vaccinated children.

Obviously there will alway be those who won't comply...but there would be a substantially better result and response if we did not have a president and federal govt that pretended that the 100 year pandemic wasn't happening.

You cannot fix all problems at once but you can expect and do better.

It's not just Trump...it was also GOP who to this day don't think that people need help.  They could have pay everyone and businesses to shutdown for like 3 months...it would not even be everyone...most of the economy would work go on.

Japan, SK, Australia, and New Zealand all did fine...Japan has 127 million people.

I get so tired of the "we cannot do better because we have not"...the same people who tell me about American exceptionalism keep telling me that America cannot do anything.

Again..America completely turned its civil economy to a wartime economy for 5 years during WW2 and then converted back post-war.  It is not a matter of if America can do it...it is a matter of political will and understanding the needs of the people rather than politics.

The answer to your question is simple.

It was an election year and we are dominated by a rigged system to maintain party power with two parties that both put party before country and the people.
