Columbus Grove - Buyer Beware

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

Not even a mile VOC. As the crow flies, probably 2,500 ft.

You could have ridden your bike over there to pick up your car!

NewVOC,

The yard used is largely dependent on the towing company that gets called. If Patrol One has a contract or some other agreement with a particular towing company, then that company's yard is where you have to go. If I were you, I would be demanding a copy of any contract Patrol One has with regards to any towing companies and see if they get a kickback of the towing/impound fees.

I still think what the tow company did is not legal after AB2210

Here is some reading. I think you have a case.......

I don't think was a predatory tow situation bltserv. The owner's agent was present (Patrol One) and presumably called in the tow...

Does anyone know the veracity of the following statement regarding patrol one? I found it on a complaint board online, but I don't know if it is true.

"They recently lost the account in Newport Coast ZIANI Tract/Community"

I think you need to dispute the legality of the Tow. What I am not sure about is the process to do that. Patrol One needed to follow the procedures set forth in the law to the letter or you are entitled to double damages. Try contacting the DMV and or Irvine or Tustin PD and find out how to file a complaint against the towing company. Make them PROVE all the paper work was signed by Patrol One at least an HOUR before your car was towed and that the picture they took is good enough to use. I know these digital cameras with flash are just to difficult to use. I bet if you spend a little time you will get your towing fees back. This scam works because people let it happen.

I don't know... I buddy had his car STOLEN because they used a stolen tow truck. Anymore I just don't trust anybody, they can't gets whats in my garage.... They might be able to ticket them though.

In the old community that I lived in, we had a person who was parking Nazi. After a few of us getting towed multiple times (from out own garage). We started towing this guys car every time he did something wrong. After about 6-7 times he finally eased up.... But we finally got him thrown/kicked out and replaced with somebody a little more leinent (sp?).

good luck

Since you have your HOA meeting today VOC, I figured you needed some oratory inspiration:

HOA is in place for the benefits of the owners, if they are acting ridiculous and hard nose impeach the board. The residents in our neighborhood are doing that now for our HOA.

I find it ridiculous, a 8 an hour looser who couldnt get a real job has the authority to tow my car on my property. That is utter BS, I would fight it and fight it hard!

I used to tow cars when I was in college, make no mistake, security companies get reimbursed for every car they tow.

You're right Kali, the HOA should be for our benefit.

Thanks again for everyone's support. More people should take their issues to the HOA, and get these things resolved.

Hopefully I have a favorable update.

The car was stolen/towed out of the garage because it was only halfway in to do some garage cleaning. I've also seen cars towed just WHILE they are moving in. The driver's are agressive, very agressive. Its a racket, I believe alot of the associations get a payola from the tow companies as well as let the misuse of the association funds.

Anyway good luck

These tow truck drivers generally make a commission on each private impound, so yes they are hungry and will do anything to impound your car...

Another thing, some of these HOA boards are out of control. Some of the members think they OWN the neighborhood, One paticular board member approached me stating I parked my vehicle not properly in the parking spot and for me to move it. Basically I told him go to hell and there is nothing he can do about it. He threatened to tow it and I informed him that if he did he will have more problems than he can EVER imagine ( I meant it!). Needless to say, the coward backed down and havent seen him since.

HOA members are (generally) pathetic power hungry idiots that have nothing better to do with their time. Most residents are scared and do not want conflict so the board members micro self esteem gets even greater... The residents need to stand up and take control of their community. If the board doesnt listen impeach them! Process isnt difficult and it only take 51% of all the vote (i believe)

OK, thanks I got it all out of my system now :).......

Wow.. we have Patrol One and as mentioned earlier it's Patrol none, except for street sweeping days. Even then we have a 3 warning / ticket rule before the tows are enforced.

And isn't the tow truck driver walking into someone's garage tresspassing?
