Heh... I'm still not counting calories.

The oatmeal and cereal I've done off and on for a while now... so no big change there... I think being more wary of what I'm eating for lunch is the only modification.

I just can't see how Homer can plan a whole day like that... and what about his restaurant trips? Are those gone now?

IHO, we stopped going as much since Marge has a specific taste for foods now.  She prefers my home cooked meals and plus I like to cook for her and the baby :D.

But when I do go out to restaurants, I take a look at the menu ahead of time to plan out what I should or shouldn't eat.  I add about 3-400 calories per plate because of how the restaurant may prepare each dish.  If I know I'm going to a steakhouse at night, I'm going to try to eat a light breakfast/lunch with less protein and more carbs to make room for the protein/fat overload from the steak and sides.

To tell you the truth, I don't really look at the calories as much; I focus more on the Macros.  Like I mentioned before I'm just trying to get my Body Fat/BMI down to where I feel healthy and fit.  You can eat below the calories you are recommended but eat poorly and still see or feel no results.

i'm just trying to sustain a healthy lifestyle that I can transition into even when my little boy comes  :D

So does this mean you found out?

I think IHO makes a great name for a boy... it's so manly (not really... no one should have a name with "HO" in it... apologies to my Vietnamese friends). :)

Congrats on the boy, Homer!
(CZ - lock up your girls.)

Homer, I think the hardest part of eating well when you have a new baby is what happens as a result of sleep deprivation. When we are so taxed, our bodies crave sugar, caffeine, refined carbs - anything for quick energy. You'll feel like you're in survival mode. Baby Boot Camp! Making it through the next hour, the day at work, will come before your weight concerns. It's just simply about surviving. I'd be forgiving of yourself when the time comes.

Haha! Dragon boy for the Dragon girl- that's only a dozen years older ;-)
It will be fun, first few months. I hate to break it to you, but you know those uncool people walking around in Irvine like Zombies, pushing euro strollers? You will be one of them, pretty soon..

Marge's parents helping you out?

When I go to restaurant, I check their menu via MFP, and see what can fit into my remaining caloric intake.  If it's binge, I don't care. Native Foods is my best bet on non-binge days, and so is Buca as long as I stick to salad and coffee. (that wouldn't happen- salad yes, and tiramisu- double yes!)

We'll see what happens  ;).  Hopefully I can stay eating clean even when the little boy comes.

Marge is going to be the designated stay at home parent.  My parents are going to come help out every now and then when they aren't traveling the world.  I highly doubt my in-laws will have the time with their upcoming ventures.  :'(

It's OK- you guys will do just fine :-) No one helped us when we had our first one. I was new to the country, gotten my driver's license a few months before I was pregnant, new job, new culture..and tech recession.. driving to the doctor's appts alone sometimes. Wasn't a bed of roses, but we did it. Looking back, it wasn't so hard as it felt then.. Just be there for Marge always, to listen mostly.

cmon homer - man up!  if you are always there for your wife she will come to expect it and there is nowhere to go but down after that.  You should disappoint her every now and then, just as the real homer disappointed the real marge.  i disappoint my wife every so often.

I must say, you're on a roll today. Just got done reading the Mexican comment in the other thread and LOL'd there, too. You kind of remind me of George Lopez.  :D Funny.

Thanks SoCal. I like George Lopez, he is one of my favorite comedians. I don't take myself too seriously and am an equal opportunity offender. If i remind u of George you would love my brother, he is pretty funny. Even has some of George's mannerisms.

Oh yes! Costco is my favorite store :-) I eat Chocolate Deluxe last- anything with peanut butter gets preference.
Which other protein products do you use? I use Optimum Whey to add to the shakes. Used Trader Darwin's products, and Kashi also, but Optimum has less carbs and more protein..

I also use Optimum Whey.  That's it... everything else comes from meat.  :D

Speaking of Costco, I was just there during lunch.  Picked up a Costco rotiserrie chicken for dinner tonight.  It should go well with some steamed rice... yummmmmmm!  Gonna make that halibut for tomorrow!
