Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I didn't cheat on my "diet" this weekend... yay!!

Snacks - Protein Bar (Trying out the Detour bars from Costco)

Couldn't find Pure Protein in Costco the other day! How is Detour?
Was thinking of ordering Pure from Amazon today.

There's plenty of Pure Protein at the District Costco!! The detour tastes sooooo goood! Way better than the Pure Protein ones.  The chocolate caramel one is  :-*

Awesome job, Homer.

It's going to be a rough night later.

I'm making my husband one of his favorites - Honey Walnut Shrimp with Rice. The recipe is as good, if not better than, what you get in a Chinese restaurant. It's REALLY good! I'm scared.  :'(

Seriously?? I love Honey Walnut Shrimp! Can you take pictures of your creation and post it tomorrow?? I want to make you an honorary Chinese family member!!

OoooOOo. The pressure!

Game on!!

Just so you don't think I cheated, here's proof I didn't get the shrimp or chopsticks from a take-out place  :P ...

If anyone wants the recipe, I've used this one for years. Works great! I over-fry the shrimp. We like them dark. I also toast the walnuts in the oven after boiling in the sugar water.

IHO, how's the di... uh.. eating plan going for ya?

Homer, you're doing awesome.

I haven't returned to the gym since I had surgery. I'm a slow healer. Still sore. I'm super scared to use my abdomen. Things could pop open that I don't want to. (They pulled my organ out through my navel so I had stitches in there. Disgusting!) I'm allowed to do sit-ups now but very paranoid! I think I'm going to start swimming with what little free time I have these days. On days when I have zero free time, I try to make small changes like parking far away from where I need to go and hoofing it.

take your time Socal - unless you are an NFL player that may get cut for not returning fast enough from an injury take your time, no need to re-injure yourself.

I have no idea if my small changes in eating habits is helping.

I do know that playing more basketball helps... but hurts all my joints.

SoCal, don't worry, you will be alright. Start with baby steps, may be cardio only for a couple of days till you regain your confidence?

Checking in:

Breakfast - 4 Hardboiled Egg Whites and 1 Hardboiled Egg.  1/2 a peach.

Snack - Protein Bar (Peanut Caramel)

Lunch - 4oz Baked Chicken Breast and a Turkey Patty with a whole wheat honey bun, onions, lettuce, tomato and ketchup.

Snack - 17 pieces of Almonds

Dinner - 10oz of Rotisserie Chicken from Costco (just the breast meat) and steamed veggies.

Dessert - 1/8th of a Moon Cake and before SoCal asks what a moon cake is...

A moon cake is a chinese baked good that's available and eaten during the Autumn Festival.  Family and friends usually bring moon cakes to each others homes to celebrate this festival.  There are different types of fillings inside each moon cake... Lotus seed paste, sweet bean paste, jujube, five kernel and even green tea (this is the new thing).

I'll be enjoying this one tonight with some tea (Same setup as seen below, and SoCal YES!! That's egg yolk in the middle  :P)  It's a big tradition in my family and I love celebrating with my parents during this time of the year.

Is my name in bold 'cause I'm the only one on TI who doesn't know what a moon cake is?  :P

Thanks for the pics. Since I'm honorary Chinese now, I should know this.

My Vietnamese friend gave me a rice cake she made me for their New Year. I had a really hard time eating the wrapper (banana leaf).  ??? Had no idea why she was LOL'ing so much. I get it now.  :) (Hint: It is not supposed to be eaten.)

I wish I knew what was inside. She told me but I didn't understand. When I ate it, my mouth was so full of plant fiber from either a banana leaf or a bamboo leaf, I don't remember which one. I couldn't taste anything else. I swallowed as much leaf as I could but had to spit the rest out. I never made it past the leaf and rice to the filling inside!  :-\

Asian friends, when you give us food gifts, we appreciate it... please include written directions so we can enjoy it properly.  :)

Good find! Just like me - a blue eyed Panda eating banana leaves! Clueless look and everything. You nailed it.  :D
