Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
The phrase I was referring to was:

gargled boba balls

I didn't want to requote the whole thing (to avoid getting qwercheted) so I referenced just the "gargle" word.

"Gargle" by itself is not q-infected, but add "balls" to it and BOOM... TWSS!

Just go to Kickin' Crab in Diamond Jamboree... if you can find parking.

(they should rename that center to Parking Jam-boree)

Surface lots are horrible, if you don't mind the walk, park in the structure but go underground, most people don't park there, and it's a straight shot to 85

Yeah... but Kickin, BBQ and Urban Seoul are all the way across the parking lot and with all the FCB drivers it's dangerous to walk in the parking lot.

There's a sidewalk in the middle of the surface lots from the Japanese restaurant to the kickin crab side, you'll avoid most of the parking lot Austin Power maneuvers this way

Anyways, Iho, what was the pudding and jelly in? Not tea, I presume.
Yes, tea, milk tea. Or any of the drinks they sell at those places (slushies, snow bubble, etc etc).

Jelly are like gummy rectangles (you may have seen them at Tutti Frutti):

... and pudding is well... jello-like pudding (usually milk or egg) like a flan or custard:

This site might help you (they call the boba with the liquid inside "pop boba"):

Actually... I should have pointed you to local places:

www.lollicup.com

www.tapiocaexpress.com

They don't have any Lake Forest (which is why I still doubt you will get plural authentic Chinese eateries there) but they have locations in Irvine.

Gee, I'm afraid to ask what a "snow bubble"(!) might be... each answer is a Pandora's Box which contains more & more bizarre things.

As you know... being my Austrian cousin and all... these are really unfamiliar to those of us from "Amish country"! Like I told the Tutti Frutti owner, they should come with instructions.  :)

Not sure if that's referring to milk tea, but yeah it is here in Foothill Ranch. I was just went to Maison de Pho on Sunday. They have 5 or 6 kinds of milk tea with or without boba and then they have milk tea smoothies (whatever that might mean.) Man, they'll put boba in anything. I ordered my usual Vietnamese Iced Coffee... and they asked me if I want balls in THAT!

SoCal go to Pho Majestic on Bake next to Ralphs and get the Thai Ice Tea Slush with Boba or the Milk Tea Slush with Boba... both are *very* good....!

Irvine commuter is Chinese?

I'd love to have a HK style restaurant. They need to open up a Tsui Wah here.

Yu's Garden is nice. I love that restaurant. Narrow space, friendly staff, consistent comfort food, inexpensive...

Being that Rudy's left the spot near target I would love to open a Stonefire grill there.  Then, I figured Phil's BBQ would be even better! If they franchised and I had a spare quarter million, I'd open one of those up. Seems like there aren't any good BBQ places within a reasonable drive at a reasonable price. Phil's would Phil that void.

When my mother in law visits she says we need a boba place at the town center. I don't think she realizes that whites actually are the majority in foothill ranch by a large margin.  Also, for a majority of people, trying boba is quite the hurdle.  FHR is still about 15% Asian, so with ~11,000 residents it would be a hard sale.

Aliso Viejo has a boba place surprisingly.  Caucasian business woman influenced by her trips to lollicup brought it to south county.  She uses quality ingredients and that's reflected in the price.

A place with arepas would be nice.
I want a place to open that has some signature types of food that I could only satisfy my cravings there.

Lake forest has a lot of hole in the wall restaurants. Foothill has them as well.  I don't think there is an authentic Chinese restaurant besides the one inside if the hotel on Richfield and lake forest by McDonald's though.

That place is actually pretty good. I forgot about them, they've been there over 20 years... I think it's called Yee's (no Google, using IHoogle).

Interesting, because I was planning to open the first Amish-Asian fusion cuisine, tentatively titled Boba Schnitzel?.

Forget Wursts und Bier (a.k.a. Beer and Bratwursts), here you can have Boba & Brats. Pho and Friendship Bread make a beautiful combo as do Saki and Sauerkraut.
