Which credit card do you use the most?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I forgot to post this but the Amex extended warranty is legit.

Had a 1.5 year old iPod die on us, I contacted Amex, filled out a form with all the information (date purchased, where, amount, issue, etc) and maybe a week later they issued me a credit for the full purchase price.

Whaaaaaa?!?

I'm buying all electronic stuff on my Amex card.

It's a shame that Costco is ending the Amex card deal.  Citigroup is getting the contract.

Citi is going to pretty much lose money on the deal.  They hope to make their money back when you use your card elsewhere.

I prefer Amex customer service and Amex warranties.  I don't know if I'll get the Citi card, but if I do, I probably will end up using an Amex for most purchases.

Let's see how long that'll last.  Remember when Costco only used discover.  No one else even accepted discover, some places still don't.

From what I understand, Costco will accept ANY Visa card. It's just their membership Visa card that will be Citi branded.

So unlike Discover, Visa is used by and accepted by almost everyone so I think this going to be around for the long haul.

Somehow I think the next one would be MC, they've gone through all the major players, when they start accepting bitcoin...

They have contracts and leverage the CC companies so that they don't have to pay fees.  AMEX apparently wasn't willing to continue the relationship.  Bad idea IMO, no reason for me to keep my AMEX any more.

Might be a bad idea, but Costco has unreasonable expectations.  There was a line AMEX wasn't willing to cross.

Doing business with costco is like doing business with Walmart, at first it sounds like a good idea and then you realize you are completely at their mercy to the point where they own u.

Visa was perfectly willing.  The idea is that you lose fees when people shop at Costco but that people will use the card elsewhere.  Costco has an affluent and loyal customer base.

I think it doesn't work as well for AMEX but I can see it working for Visa.

We will see.

If the CitiGroup Costco Visa card offers the same or better benefits, then great.  With AMEX, the extended warranty is pretty smooth.  Will it as smooth with Citi?  It looks like Citi has price rewind which Amex no longer offers.

I don't know if I'll get the new card as I'll probably drop Costco soon...  Costco is more expensive and less convenient than other stores.

I have two citi cards and customer service is quite good.  I have claimed extended warranty and rental insurance on the cards and pretty easy.  That was quite a while ago and I have never used AMEX so I can't compare.

Costco is great IMO.  Tons of quality products at a significant savings...the dramatic increase in organic products is great.  We basically shop at Costco, Trader Joes, Korean market, and occasionally at Sprouts.

Costco sucks. I used to buy a lot of household stuff there like toilet paper, detergent, basically anything in that back corner but would dread going every time. Found out I can buy everything online at jet or Amazon or Walmart for similar (and sometimes cheaper) prices delivered to my door.

I love Costco. The one thing that does suck is the checkout process. Takes too long and then sometimes you get the traffic jam down the main pathway to the checkout stands

True but Costco has a lot of other stuff that are great and can be picked up while you are getting the back of the store stuff.  Costco also has a ton of private label stuff that are excellent in quality and cheaper than the branded items.

I know I'm in the minority. Going to Costco is an American pastime. I never really bought the "other" stuff. I also don't want to store a year's supply of anything in my house. And I think the main issue is Costco doesn't have enough of what I need so it ended up being yet another stop on my errand list.  So I replaced it with online shopping from my phone. Saves me $50, and the hassle of dealing with crowds and parking.

Well...I get the executive option ($100) but get a lot of that back with the 2% rebate.

I don't know if I get thing that is a year of anything (maybe household supplies) but even if you don't, the stuff is a lot cheaper.  OTC medication, vitamins, baby supplies, clothing, ready made foods, etc.

Costco is great.  $1.50 hot dogs.  Cheapest gas.  Free samples.  Yay
I also own some of their stocks. Go Costco.

I would argue for baby supplies (diapers, baby food, wipes, and formula), target online and Amazon mom can be cheaper. Esp when target runs those gift card deals. Add on some coupons, 5% red card discount , etc, etc. Plus you get more selection of brands.

Amazon also have that subscribe and save, order 5 items + sometimes have coupon clipping option and save like 15-20% entire order

Yup and you can cancel the subscribe and save anytime. Reclip the coupon and resubscribe as a "first subscription".
