We just bought the Residence 2 and got 10K in flooring from the builder ! I can`t wait to move in. Everybody should really go check Columbus Grove out. It is really nice and cheaper than the other homes in Irvine. I mean when a 4,000+ square foot home in Columbus Grove is about 1.4K versus the regular 1.9K u see in Irvine thats a really good thing. And Columbus Grove has that old world charm with Front Porches and everything. The Neighborhood makes me feel like I am in the country somehwere. I love the country feel.

Welcome IRVINITEEEE! :)

Were you aware of the affordable units in Savannah before you purchased? Does that bother you? For me it would be a deal breaker but it seems there are definitely people who wouldn't mind. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on that.

Yes I knew that there were affordable units. It personally did not bother me because i guess everybody should be entitled to a home. And as a matter of a fact there was a rep from Families Forward in the sales office. They provide units for Families Forward also, which is a program for families who do not have enough money for the basics. That made me feel really good that my neighborhood would work with such a great cause.

Well it seems you are very well informed and I look forward to seeing more posts from you. Congratulations on your new home!!

I think another plus about Savannah is that it is located in the City of Irvine as well as served by the Irvine School District. Not all neighborhoods in the Villages of Columbus have that.

I know. We really liked it. And around the corner is going to be the new Entertainment Center called The District. I CANNOT WAIT. It looks better than the Irvine Spectrum. Within Walking distance from Columbus Grove.

Just wondering, where do you put your TV in Residence 2? I toured the model and it seems the only place to put it is between the living and dining room.

Irvineeee

How did you come to know of various programs that are available for people who have bare minimum and what are the requirements. Is it a law that all builders need to offer such homes .

Uhm well when you go into the Villages Of Columbus website says which neighborhoods have those programs and i think Irvine is required to have a certain amount of affordable units under law.

hey IRVINEEEEEEE congrats on your new home. I liked Plan 2 and also Plan 3, but Plan 2 was the more realistic one.

also, one thing i'm sure you are aware of, but if you weren't then now you do, is that your garage faces outside the motor court. i'm not a big fan of motor courts, mainly because some residents think that it's a public area to skateboard or play four square, when it's really supposed to be for cars.

when do you move in? also, how much is your monthly (if you don't mind me asking)?

thanks!

I also liked the residence 3. It is perfect for one person or a couple. Uhm, the residence 2 doesn't actually have the garage with the rest in the motor court. And our monthly is roughly 3,900. Where were u planning on buying a new home ? Or were you just looking ?

sorry, "outside the motor court" = not in the motor court. but yeah good job! one less thing to get annoyed with the neighbors about

nah not buying. just signed a lease for a townhome in north OC. but i'm always aware of the market in all OC areas (used to live in westpark and sold my condo last year in 7 days, it literally felt like i was jumping off a burning ship because values dipped soon after)

i like savannah because it's the closest to AFFORDABLE, the rest of columbus grove i could only afford the slide in the playground.....

IRVINEEEEEEEEEEE just for your reference i am renting a 2/2.5 (similar to your specs) for 2000. now granted i am just renting and you are owning (no need to get into that debate here), but just for payment reference.

because i am picky and the models i truly like are 600k+. Which I can't pay for.

also, i work in south OC and my family is from north OC, so i have a constant debate in my head of where i REALLY want to live.

mentally i'm in no capacity to buy ;)

Yeah that's the thing that sucks. You have to weigh the pro's and con's and you have to decide which plan you like. It's especially difficult when you can afford more than one new home residence and deciding which plan you like more. The Residence two was a better pick for us because it was dual master and the second bedroom has a window seat, which we like. Also, it is the only plan that has a snack bar that you can sit at in the kitchen. It is also the only townhome plan that is on an end corner unit.
