If you have been around long enough all these cemetery talk is really there to slowdown the competition from selling homes. In a few years the Mediterranean side of Irvine will be out of land and no more inventory. By then the funding to keeping this project alive or political constituents contribution would just stop. My best guess is the swapped parcel by Broadcom would be traded again for revenue to fund a less costly location to build an uninspiring cemetery somewhere in the inland empire.

If the cemetery is not built in the great park, what will Fivepoints be building in that parcel which is purposed for the cemetery?

I'm sure they've had that discussion behind closed doors but we won't know the answer for 10 years.

If you are perceptive, you may discover some clues by reading IHS' posts.

I believe the land originally proposed for the cemetery is not owned by Fivepoint. It is A City of Irvine land. The land swap offered by Fivepoint near Broadcom is a Fivepoint land. I believe Fivepoint on top of the free land and adding to the deal is a chunk of cemetery development money. I think the land no longer considered for cemetery will still be City of Irvine land in which Fivepoint will not be able to develop.

The question is what will City of Irvine put there?  The city might just wait it out until the surrounding area is fully develop and reserve it for future facilities that could benefit the population. As the shifting demographic of Irvine and aging population a small portion of land could be used for an age restricted development.

On the money!

Old news, maybe fake news. Doesn't say when.

i was going to laugh at that. given this was just yesterday - but then again i went and checked the byline of the piece and realized its a syndication from voice of OC - which is a bit biased at times.

guess we'll see.

kinda hate how "fake news" is a nomenclature in modern society now. zzzz.

And you can?t blame FivePoint for working this over; they paid a lot of money to get Don Wagner elected Mayor and Christina Shea re-elected to the council ? both are in the bag for the best interests of the developer and not the Veterans or the taxpayers.

Even though it will cost way more to build one at the original site?  amazing.
