United States vs. ?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Results sometimes require a bit of chaos.  C'mon Eye, these market moves are nothing.  Seen worse many times.  The public have short memories and are easily spooked. Remember when Greece was going to collapse the world economy?(whimps!).  Besides, these moves have more to do with high techs problems FB and TSLA than the tariff issues or North Korea.

Posted that yesterday. The word is he walked out after only a few hours which they interpret as he got scolded and bailed out of town.  They think the Chinese tried to exert some control and pushed him to denuclearize when he meets with Trump...he didn't appreciate the advice.

People just don't get Trump.  They still use the old scales to measure his style.  You cannot.  Where Obama played "chess" and sipped wine  (but couldn't negotiate his way out of a paper bag)  Trump plays poker and slugs whiskey.  While Old school is playing a more gentile and civilized game of tennis where the "ball is now in Trumps court" , Trump is playing smashmouth football, moving the ball down the field while chuggin beer. It's not too late to get on the Trump train if you can look at this administration from a different angle.

I love that Trumpsters keep saying that "we just don't get it"  No...we all get it.  It's Teddy Roosevelt...except US doesn't carry a big stick anymore.

How many times has Trump proposed something and then realized...oh it's a lot more complicated than we expected and then it fizzled out.  How is that Israeli-Palestinian issue working out?  How about healthcare?

This is the end game, results that you, and others will never get.

North Korean leadership's primary concern is survival, as exit career options are very poor.  Their conventional military forces are too weak against South Korea and nuclear weapons is their only ace in the deck.  To surrender that card they need assurances from China that Beijing will renew and honor the mutual-defense clause in the Sino-North Korean Mutual Aid and Cooperation Friendship Treaty, due for renewal in 2021.

Beijing is interested in having NK as a buffer state, but NK with nuclear weapons is a liability and has publicly expressed opinion that China is not obligated to defend NK if they deploy nuclear weapons and provoke US/SK.  Kim did his best to improve his bargaining position before going to Beijing and (upcoming) meeting with Trump.

Assuming if things go the way that Kim wants, he will get security assurance from both China and US in exchange for the nukes.  A hotline to SK's Blue House will also be installed to de-escalate border incidents as needed.  Dismantling NK's nuclear program will coincide with renewal of Sino-NK treaty in 2021 which will hopefully (in his mind) buy him another 20 years until 2041.  They will copy certain successful aspects of SK in setting up NK version of chaebols, kpop bands, k-drama and cheap soju as bread and circus for the people.

"During the meeting, Kim committed to giving up his nuclear weapons and told the South Korea officials he would like to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, delegation leader Chung Eui-yong told reporters at the White House on Thursday - a potentially dramatic breakthrough in nuclear tensions with Pyongyang."  -- March 8, 2018

You may not like Trumps style but you can't argue with the results.

Mysterious, high-security train from North Korea to Beijing sparks rumours that Kim Jong Un is in China

Did Trump make this happen?

Sun said that China has attempted to meet with Kim in the past, but rising tensions as North Korea?s nuclear testing heated up derailed the preparations and deteriorated bilateral relations. Previously, China saw Kim as defiant and abusing Beijing?s support for the country, and denied them ?the honour, the validation, of having a meeting? with Xi.

?The only variable has changed,? in the Pyongyang-Beijing relationship, according to Sun, is that Trump accepted a face-to-face meeting with Kim, which she said may have ?motivated the Chinese to change their mind.?

...and I will point this out again...does anyone think that this alternate reality would exist under a Clinton administration?  Really?  At some point one has to admit that the Bully in Chief moved the ball forward...have a good chug of beer Trump!!

Trickle..trickle...trickle

WASHINGTON ? Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates was in contact with a person who the FBI believed had ties to Russian intelligence during the run-up to the 2016 election, according to new court documents filed Wednesday by special counsel Robert Mueller.

The contact, identified in court documents as "Person A," and Gates were "directly communicating" in September and October prior to the election, prosecutors asserted in court documents.

Gates has since pleaded guilty to conspiracy and lying to the FBI and has promised to assist Mueller's continuing probe into Russia's interference in the election.

More!

On Wednesday, The New York Times reported that President Donald Trump's former lawyer John Dowd floated the possibility that Trump might issue pardons to Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort with their attorneys last year. Meanwhile, CNN has learned there was a discussion within the Department of Justice last summer, prompted by news stories speculating Trump could issue pardons via Twitter, over what would happen if he did decide to pardon anyone through social media.

In emails exchanged between Department of Justice employees working for the Office of the Pardon Attorney, they concluded that if Trump decided one day to tweet out a presidential pardon, the Department of Justice would probably "have very little if any involvement," wrote Jennifer K. Mills, a former supervisory paralegal.

Anti-Trump propaganda belongs on the President Trump thread unless it directly pertains to the conflict in NK or other similar hotspot.
