United Airlines Violently Drags Doctor Off Flight Volunteer Not to Give Up Seat

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Based on what I've seen, Dao is very intelligent:

Step 1: He screamed loudly to bring attention to what they were doing.

Step 2: He didn't fight back, just laid there forcing them to drag him off like they did, and then once they dragged him far enough, he somehow "magically" escaped so that he can show those filming him his bloody face.

Step 3: Profit!!!

Again it seems that you are indirectly attacking Dao. The fact is he was drag out by the police because of additional united airlines employees need to go on the plane.

United States Senators are calling for a federal investigation.

Watch the original video. He was already threatening lawsuit to the cop before they touched him. The cop tried to reason with him saying you rather go to jail than get off the plane voluntarily?

Dao is the man!  I hope he gets millions like that lady at McDonalds who burned her crotch and got $3million.

Read the details of the McDonald's coffee case, and you might form a more nuanced position than popular culture has with limited facts.

How am I "indirectly attacking" him?

He was very smart about this whole thing.

He had 2 choices, get off quietly and be largely inconvenienced (doubtful he had "patients to see the next day"), or see where this goes and make a scene that will get him future benefits.

I would have just got off the plane, but what he did was genius and you may see IHO screaming in a future video.

Imagine the next time an airline enforces the 're-accommodate' rule.  Gonna be 50 phones recording at the same time :)

"Don't re-accomodate me... or I'm going Dao all over you!"

These are funnier:

"Board as a doctor, leave as a patient"
"... one free carry off"

Poor United... I'm sure Delta is happy about this.

If they are overbooked, if you don't get off you might receive the right hook. (Joke)

I don't think you can elevate him to a genius level. I don't believe he expects he would become national headline news and potential multi-million compensation. I wouldn't risk any permanent injuries if someone threaten me forces will be used. I would just leave and file a complaint.

The day after this incident, I received a call from Delta telling me my flight in 2 weeks is overbooked and asking if I would accept a $300 credit to take a later flight.  I thought that was pretty odd.  Wouldn't they normally wait to see who checked in the day of the flight before making any offers?  I think the good doctor has spooked all the airlines.

The flight we are taking is Maui to Lax on the way home from Spring break, so I'm sure it will be a busy weekend.  I turned down their offer because the later flight wouldn't get in until 5am Monday morning, and my kids will need to go to school that day.  Still if they want to pay me $1,000 per seat in cash (no airline credit) maybe I can let the kids miss a day of school.  ::)

Dao is the man!  I hope he gets millions like that lady at McDonalds who burned her crotch and got $3million.

You mean the case where the jury awarded her $2.86 million but then the trial judge reduced it to $640K. McDonalds filed an appeal and they settle out of court for an undisclosed amount - you know it was substantially less that $640K. Spend a few minutes to check your "facts". Plus you are comparing apples to oranges legal doctrines. I take that back, you are comparing apples to orangutans.

There is no doubt that what occurred was morally reprehensible, however was it illegal? Was United within their rights to demand that he vacate his seat? Were the law enforcement officers within their rights to use some force when he refused to follow their orders? Generally not a good idea to for anyone to not follow police orders. I'm not a legal expert, but these are the questions I think may be important for any lawsuit.

Even as is, United has lose tons due to this, all the intangibles, think about the CEO's multi million salary and all that are involved in the legal dept, PR, etc handling this crap and everything else is put off, on top of whatever legal cost, and then needing to spend to retain current and convince new customers.

all the memes and twitter, brutal...

The McDonald's case is actually quite interesting since the true facts surrounding the case really aren't discussed that often.  Main one is the actual settlement amount.  Another point was that McDonald's intentionally increased the temperature of the coffee so it would stay hotter for a longer period of time.  There were already internal discussions whether this should be done or not (the danger of getting burned is obviously much higher).  In the end, MC'ds did increase the temperature and the lady got burned more severely than she should have.  That was the premise of the lawsuit.

I'm not excusing United Airlines, but this guy screams that he's Chinese and he's Vietnamese. He says he has to come back to see patients but he doesn't have a practice,  in fact he's only licensed to practice one day a week.  The clinic he says he worked at said he doesn't work there.  This guys a very good poker player. I'm just saying .
