I used to play golf with “Nick” at Boulder Ridge in San Jose. I had no idea they are now selling franchises in SoCal. Their food is very authentic.

Don't know if prices and selections are better than some of the other stores, but wasn't a fan of the layout or the food bar at the one over in Costa Mesa. Perhaps I'm just comfortable with Mitsuwa.

The hot food bar concept was good, but difficult to maintain quality over time.

If you're looking to save money, check Seiwa down the street. Last I checked they have additional discounts on veggies and meats on certain days of the week.

I'm much more concerned about freshness and quality over price, to be honest. I'm hoping that the new Irvine location will be a more premium, actually fresh offering
