Text messages from 2016 show preparation to brief Barack Obama about Russia?s interference in that year?s election, according to associates of the FBI employees involved in the exchange, not, as a Republican senator suggested, meddling by the then-president in the federal Hillary Clinton email investigation.

I was wondering if that was the case because the text in question occurred on Sept 2, 2016 after the Hillary probe had already been closed, and prior to it being reopened.  At that point, the FBI was more focused on finding a way to get wiretap approval on Trump's campaign staff.

At what point do you think that the GOP is throwing the FBI and the Justice Department under the business for no legitimate reasons.  And you still don't think this is an issue or that all of the Trump's campaign people are connected to Russia and Trump can't even bring himself to enforce the sanctions that Congress overwhelmingly approved?

This is just getting started.  The inspector general's report is set to come out in March/April and it is a non-partisan look at the FBI actions that have taken place.  I will be interested to see where that leads (it's the reason we have the Strzok/Page texts and Andy McCabe demotion so far) as well as where the special counsel investigation leads.

No matter what comes out about Trump, I think the odds of removing him from office are minimal unless truly criminal, treasonous things are found to have occurred.  It takes 2/3 of the Senate to remove a President so the Dems won't have the votes to do so by themselves.

The FBI/DOJ improprieties could lead to prosecutions.  Right now, there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that FISA abuse occurred.  There is also evidence that Obama was monitoring Trump's campaign via the unmasking process.  (That is why having a warrant against a Trump associate was so important.  Notice that Carter Page has not been accused of any wrongdoing.)

So far there's not enough evidence to accuse anybody in the DOJ/FBI of criminal wrongdoing, but even you would have to concede that this entire thing stinks to high heaven.  Thankfully, they were incredibly sloppy in trying to cover it up, because the default assumption was that Hillary was going to win.  These careerists were looking out for themselves and trying to position for promotions in her administration, which led to many mistakes.

Just about everything in that is wrong..the evidence all point the opposite way but you keep going with Fox News.

If what I write is wrong, then make a counterargument.  So far, all I've heard from you is that the FBI isn't part of the DOJ.  (A lie.)

I have already posted it...you choose to keep moving the target and goal post.

The Nunes memo is a whole lot of nothing and based upon cherry-picked information.
The "FBI conspiracy" to take down Trump is ridiculous and based a few text between Strzok and Page that were taken out of context.

You move from one conspiracy theory to another...none of which have any merit or evidence.  For example, the unmasking was totally legit:
https://www.wired.com/2017/04/sorry-susan-rice-not-smoking-gun/
https://www.usnews.com/opinion/thom...ing-scandal-says-more-about-the-desperate-gop

Ultimately, GOP/Fox News wants people to believe that the FBI, the Justice Department, FISA courts, and Obama were in this huge conspiracy to take down Trump...even those who were appointed by Trump.  Yet, we are not supposed to believe that despite at least 4 indictments and a ton of smoke that Trump did not collude with Russia.  Whether Trump ever gets impeached is besides that point..the point is that whether one should be outraged by it or create a bunch conspiracies to distract.

No one tried to cover it up.  GOP/Fox News basically make up one conspiracy based upon cherry picked information...it gets debunked and then GOP/Fox News moves to a new conspiracy.  Just like the "OBAMA WANTED KNOW EVERYTHING" email "reveal" from earlier today....only to get debunked a few hours later.  Is that going to get covered by Fox News or the Right wing media?  Of course not...they will just come up with a new conspiracy or circle back to another one (Uranium One again?)

GOP is basically doing this every day:

?At this hour, the New York Times is trying to distract you,? Hannity said at the top of his show. ?They have a story that Trump wanted Mueller fired some time last June and our sources ? and I?ve checked in with many of them ? they?ve not confirmed that tonight.?

Apparently he didn?t check in with all of his sources, because the Fox personality and proud Trump sycophant was forced to eat crow just minutes later.

?So we have sources tonight just confirming to Ed Henry that yeah, maybe, Donald Trump wanted to fire the special counsel for a conflict,? Hannity said. ?Does he not have the right to raise those questions??

Anderson Cooper say it much better than I can:

If you think I am a liberal hack...read these opinions by lifelong Republicans

Trump?s eager publication of the memo was expected. Yet his action crossed a line: from criticism of the FBI to executive action designed to undermine an ongoing investigation. Trump seems to be testing the waters for direct action against the FBI by testing the limits of what his Republican followers will stomach. So far, there are no limits.

With the blessing of Republican leaders, the lickspittle wing of the GOP is now firmly in charge. The existence of reckless partisans such as Nunes is hardly surprising. The nearly uniform cowardice among elected Republicans is staggering. One is left wishing that Obamacare covered spine transplants. The Republican-led Congress is now an adjunct of the White House. The White House is now an adjunct of Trump?s chaotic will.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...72e2047c935_story.html?utm_term=.83dbe7385a7c

?There?s been no indication that those who have been interviewed at the White House in the Mueller investigation have not been fully cooperating,? Ferguson said. ?There has been a ton of speculation that the president wants to shut this down, is going to try to shut this down. He hasn?t fired the people that you would need to fire to shut them down.?

?His supporters should make clear it is unacceptable to fire Rosenstein and to fire Mueller,? Kristol responded, after some back-and-forth about whose turn it was to speak (looks like they need a talking stick). ?It?s unacceptable to rally Republicans to delegitimize the senior leadership of the FBI and DOJ. What if they got something wrong on one FISA application??

I'll bet most voters have decided that virtually all politicians are corrupt or will be some day. Those that aren't haven't been caught.

They are all flip floppers and all this noise over he said, she said, is just noise and every day less people care.

That was the case until now , both corrupt etc etc , but within bounds of normalcy .

Trump and his gop minions are a whole new level of bat s*** crazy

So you admit they were all corrupt before Trump? LOL!

Corrupt is corrupt. There is no normal corrupt.

It's like cheating on your taxes. Is it ok to a certain point? No it isn't but maybe you're ok with a normal cheating level.

Or is it ok to have a little affair? Would you want your wife being a little cheater as long as it wasn't too much? Maybe if she cheated and no one else knew it would be ok? LOL!

What is really bothering you is that he may or may not be certifiably crazy but in any case he's getting away with it because people are giving him a pass saying it's "Trump being Trump" and the reason he gets that is we are just beyond caring what the press or anyone else has to say about politics. Both sides are out for themselves and far apart. We only care about our jobs, family and pocketbook. Anything else is just noise and we D O  N O T    C A R E and I don't read anything but headlines and forget them as fast as I read them no matter which side they come from.

Sigh ... the dreaded  " both-sideism "  again ..

I will give a simple example to illustrate  --

When you buy a car , you look at panel gaps  - the gaps between doors and doorframe, the gap between dashboard pieces .  generally acceptable gaps have changed over time , but they are no more than a few mm , be it a BMW or a Toyota or a Hyundai .

Now imagine a car where panel gaps are a few centimeter rather than the tight mm .  What happens ? water and outside elements leak in , the car stops being structurally sound

Where am I going with this ?

Trump and his minions and the level of bat s*** crazy they are getting away with --  is akin to large gigantic panel gaps that is VERY BAD for the structural integrity of the car , or in this case , OUR COUNTRY .  Small gaps can be worked around , but the sheer scale of corruption, divisiveness  and moral rot he is sowing , and the contagion effect it has on his (cult like) followers is ruining the long term future of our country.

It's way beyond corruption...we are into McCarthyism and Watergate level issues now.  Calling the other side traitors/un-American...attacking the FBI/Justice Department for the basis of smearing an investigation of a president actively interfering and trying to stop an investigation.

I know - I am just trying to explain this in simple terms . It is a well known psychological fact that people are more receptive to ideas that reinforce their existing beliefs and tune out the rest .  Trump supporters really have to clutch at straws to keep the mental equilibrium ,  and console themselves.

There is no bar too low and here we  have to give credit to the man himself -- he is right when he says " I can shoot someone in broad daylight on fifth avenue and I will not lose my core supporters "  .. this is the dangerous zone we are in now . Esp. in a country with millions of easily agitated people with a chip on their shoulders many of whom also happen to own arsenals of automatic weapons.

The Trumpmobile may have a few misaligned panel gaps, but that pales in comparison to the democrats and deep state actors that are cutting the brakes and pouring sand into the gas tank.

Again, missed the point

we are comparing somehow " normal " bounds of lobbying and corruption during the likes of Bush / Clinton era on democrats and republican side to completely different era of corruption now.  How many times people like yourselves probably complained about Obama's occasional golf trips but are silent over trump and his cronies charging taxpayers through the roof through forced use of their properties and the weekly golf trips ?  You cant be serious .  Anyways,  People could have an honest debate about these things in the era before Faux News  . Now it is all outrage all the time.  Vanquishing the supposed enemy (the " Democrat") has become an unhealthy obsession with large parts of republican base.

Only in the Trump world:

Hannity, a vocal defender of President Trump, opened a segment on his radio show with criticism of what he perceives to be anti-Trump bias in the FBI and Justice Department probes into Russian meddling in the presidential election.

?Nixon never would have been forced to resign if you existed in your current state back in 1972, ?73, ?74,? Rivera told Hannity on his radio show.

"It?s too bad for Nixon, because nobody like you existed then. I say that because I believe that our prime responsibility now is to unshackle the 45th president of the United States.?

You have a strange obsession with Fox News, constantly talking about it, yet I can't really relate.  I've never watched it, have never subscribed to cable, and generally don't watch TV at all aside from occasional sports.

My opinions are gathered from reading numerous news sources, many of which I post here, and fusing those facts together using my brain.  When you make arguments lacking logic or basic facts, it's incredibly easy to shoot them down.

These are recent statements from you:

-The FBI is not the DOJ.
-A FISA warrant can be obtained using unverified stories from unnamed sources.

Those are basic facts you have gotten wrong.  When you say stuff like that, it does give the appearance of being a partisan hack.

Trump will not release the democratic memo which incidentally was approved for release by both dems and repubs.

Dems will protest a little bit , in their typical civilized fashion , and then quiet down when bullied by the mainstream media and CNN types that ?hey focus on the white working class bread and butter isssues , not some memo?

Only republicans are allowed to raise ruckus like spoiled toddlers and get their idiotic demands met (like the Nunes dud non memo) ?  they have the full force and machine of right wing media behind them singing in one voices and the mainstream news outlets get easily cowed by them . Anyone notice Rush Limbaugh on his radio show declare that he doesn?t care about deficits anymore ...

Democrats can?t win this fight unless they give up civility and learn to fight dirty like the other side . They will keep getting bullied ...

You are learning well from the leader , in terms of name calling . No surprise there .

And at the same time proving my point about bullying ? btw just adding an exclamation mark at the end doesn?t make your post witty or funny . You have a long ways to go there .

Maybe the supportive echo chamber will give you a few likes for your post  but we all know what that means .

No point indulging in more schoolyard mud slinging and personal attacks . You can debate what was said, let it go, or keep attacking the messsenger. People can draw their own conclusions .

Dem memo was a trap that includes sources and methods, so when it was rejected, dem talking heads and the MSM can cry that Trump is playing sides.

The message was sent to the committee Friday in a letter from White House Counsel Don McGahn.

"Although the president is inclined to declassify the February 5th Memorandum, because the Memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time," McGahn wrote.

"However, given the public interest in transparency in these unprecedented circumstances, the President has directed that Justice Department personnel be available to give technical assistance to the Committee, should the Committee wish to revise the February 5th Memorandum to mitigate the risks identified by the Department," McGahn continued. "The President encourages the Committee to undertake these efforts. The Executive Branch stands ready to review any subsequent draft of the February 5th Memorandum for declassification at the earliest opportunity."

A letter signed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray accompanied McGahn's response.
