President Trump

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Hah, you just questioned a broadcast news entertainer's credibility for doing exactly what - Hyping an expose of two pages of an allegedly accurate 2005 Trump tax return?

What would you say about Trump's credibility today, and the "hopeful fools who follow him"?

Tacit admission that Trump's words hold absolutely no credibility, and anyone who follows him is a hopeful fool?

Ah, name calling. It is ok as long as you are the one doing it.

Wait, are you asking about the hopeful fool comment directed at Maddow "followers," or my use of that term redirected at the commenter? Morekaos was creating a standard. I asked if his standard applies equally to Trump followers. No need to be offended. In a funny way, your comment supports the standard.

Actually, I was using a more tame version of Lenin's useful idiots.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/trump-presidential-budget-2018-proposal/

What do you guys think of the proposed budget?  Are you happy with the increased military spending and decreased spending on social services?

How will the 1.4billion increase in spending for school schools impact funding for the Irvine School District?  Won't it be nice to live in a more affordable area or buy a house you actually like and be able to send your kids to a private school?

Isn't it good the EPA is going the way of dinosaurs?  More houses can be built on top of military waste and no one will be held accountable.

2.6 billion for a border wall and the government already wants to steal your land to build ithttp://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-border-wall-texans-receiving-letters-about-their-land/

Trump loves eminient domain. Let's make America great and safe again and seize everyone's property just like the Soviets. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...use-of-eminent-domain/?utm_term=.bf9642c883e9

By the way, when are the tax cuts going to happen?

Yes I'm happy. Glad you asked.

Eventually the sacred cow SS will have to be cut as well.

That's mostly Title I funding. IUSD only gets a tiny portion of its funding from the federal government. They want to tie the funding to the student, rather than the school, so they can use it as a voucher for private/charter school if they chose to do so. Not much of an issue in this area.

There are no surprises in this budget proposal, other than the fact that it's a skeleton budget. It doesn't include prospective effects of the tax cuts under RyanCare nor the tax cuts under the, currently vague, tax reform/cut/plan. These POTUS budgets are always opening offers to negotiate, but they do outline priorities of POTUS.

I'll give Trump credit though, for not touching SSI/Medicare as promised. Although both programs need to be tweaked slightly to ensure viability, and the sooner the better.

Is there any better way to punish big city highfalutin tree-hugging liberals who did not vote for Trump, than to eliminate the deduct-ability of state/local income taxes and dramatically reduce the deduct-ability of mortgage interest?

Full disclosure - The AMT effectively eliminates the deduct-ability of state/local income taxes, but the AMT does not affect mortgage interest deduct-ability.

Schumer calls for protecting mortgage interest deduction
http://buffalonews.com/2017/03/16/schumer-calls-protecting-mortgage-interest-deduction/

Sen. Charles Schumer is pushing back against what he sees as threats to deductions for mortgage interest and local and state property taxes.

"Taking away these deductions on federal tax returns would be brutally unfair and would hit Erie County homeowners right between the eyes," Schumer said in a statement on Thursday. He visited Amherst to call attention to the issue.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin in remarks this month said the Trump administration will preserve the mortgage interest deduction. But Schumer said the Republican-led Congress could still push to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction, and that deductions for local and state property taxes remained at risk, as well.

The Problem With Factshttp://timharford.com/2017/03/the-problem-with-facts/
In 1995, Robert Proctor, a historian at Stanford University who has studied the tobacco case closely, coined the word ?agnotology?. This is the study of how ignorance is deliberately produced; the entire field was started by Proctor?s observation of the tobacco industry. The facts about smoking ? indisputable facts, from unquestionable sources ? did not carry the day. The indisputable facts were disputed. The unquestionable sources were questioned. Facts, it turns out, are important, but facts are not enough to win this kind of argument.

I think the Senate Democrats should support the well qualified Gorsuch, and vote for him, reminding everyone how despicable the Republicans' behavior was last year failing to give Garland a hearing, much less a vote. The Democrats can prove they're the adults in the room. We'll see if they can muster the courage to rise above juvenile behavior. Having said that, they should question Gorsuch heavily about his originalist views which fail under simple questioning.

Man Arrested For JCC Bomb Threats Was Liberal Journalist Fired For Fabrication

Juan Thompson, the St. Louis native arrested for making bomb threats against Jewish centers, used to write at left-wing website The Intercept before being fired for fabrication.

A man allegedly waging an intense campaign of harassment against a former lover was responsible for bomb threats against the Anti-Defamation League and some Jewish centers around the country, authorities said Friday.
Law enforcement sources told NBC 4 New York the 31-year-old suspect, Juan Thompson, was arrested in St. Louis in connection with multiple threats against Jewish centers, including some in the New York tri-state area.

JCC bomb threats: Teen suspect arrested in Israel

Jerusalem (CNN)A Jewish teenager was arrested Thursday in connection with a series of bomb threats that have rattled Jewish institutions and community centers across the US and other countries, Israeli police said.

A months-long international investigation led to the 19-year-old suspect, who used "advanced camouflage technologies" to cover his tracks, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Well that massive surge in Trump antisemitism is now accounted for with two people...who don't even support Trump.  Wow!! Nice fake news that pushed another false narrative!

Wait, it's been days since an anecdotal affirmation has been posted here that our wretched country is on its path to greatness again, and winning. Nothing?

OK...here's one...

US new home sales surge to seven-month high in February

New U.S. single-family home sales jumped to a seven-month high in February, suggesting the housing market recovery continued to gain momentum despite the challenges of high prices and tight inventories.

The Commerce Department said on Thursday new home sales increased 6.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 592,000 units last month, the highest level since July 2016.

January's sales pace was revised up to 558,000 units from the previously reported 555,000 units. New home sales have now recouped a sharp drop suffered in December.
