[quote author="kawakonohirukun" date=1214637851][quote author="stepping_up" date=1214637341]One of my foreign friends once asked me why is that Americans always ask, "what do you do?" as one of their first questions. I never thought about how much we identify ourselves by how we make our living before then. I really do like how this thread has gone.

Partners in Crime: I'm a pretty open person, but this is not the place where I want to reveal where our income comes from. This doesn't mean that I advertise my massage services in the OC Weekly, rather I just don't want to put out what we make or don't make, have in assets or don't have for the IHB world at large.</blockquote>

:( Awww. Now I feel bad for what I posted in my original thread. I made myself a victim of TMI.</blockquote>

Nah, over many posts I've revealed our DITI and recent purchase, other purchase, etc... it wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to do the math. I think you were just voicing frustration because you're now at a point in life where you want to start making real progress and the mole hill appears to be a mountain. Flash back to 2005 and imagine being a couple in your 30's wanting to own a home and feeling that they SHOULD be able to without eating dog food to live in a joke for the price. AND still not have a place to grow some darn tomatoes :) As I said in my other post, you are in a very fine position. Feel good about it and be excited about what lies ahead. In the meantime, enjoy yourself and take the time to smell the iceburg roses and laveder :)

I'm 51 and semi-retired. Moved to OC in '86 and struck gold in the medical equipment field. Bought rentals and luckily cashed out in '06... 20 years from rags to retirement. Now waiting to buy a home in the Newport area up to $1.8M... ish. or move back to Oklahoma and buy a county.

You ever play 20/40 or 40/80 at Commerce or Ocean's Eleven?</blockquote>

No. Do they play stud 8/b or Omaha 8/b that big at Commerce or O11?

The game at Hollywood Park is insanley juicy. The stud game plays OK (not so juicy), the Omaha game is off the hook. Playing for quarters at Stars of Full Tilt is way, way tougher.

[quote author="graphrix" date=1214654143]So... when are we having IHB poker night?</blockquote>
Word!!! We'll leave you in charge to organize the event and I'll help with the name tags. ;)

They may have stud and Omaha games 8 and up at Commerce, but I know for sure they don't have those limits at Ocean's Eleven. So there's a lot of fish swimming up at HP in the 20/40 game, eh???

I help disenfranchised individuals find long-term, government sponsored housing. I am a social worker, psychologist, babysitter and Centurion.

On the side, I'm a wedding planner. My client, alan, is taking advantage of the new marriage law that just passed! Isn't that great ?! We've been putting in some long hours to make he and his partner's special day real nice. His theme is "Pink, Pink, Pink"....catchy, don't you think ?

Will post pics soon !

Hey Troop,

I'm looking forward to the .jpgs. Have you chosen a cake yet? How about this? It goes with the theme.

Prof, I'll show it to alan and see what he thinks. Here's the cake topper he picked out ! They've also registered at Focus On The Family....they want everybody to donate as opposed to giving a gift. Isn't that thoughtful ?!

Cool. Glad to see that the new law now lets everyone suffer the fate of marriage! Err, I mean, lets everyone enjoy the happiness of marriage. ;-)

I saw what you originally posted with regard to 25w100k+.

Nothing to be ashamed of but stop focusing on the negatives.

Look on the bright side, his rejection rate with females is still 99.9% while yours is at 98.5%.

There?s something for you to build on.

Glad I could help.</blockquote>

Haha, I due tend to be one of the guys that sees the brightside and positives. However, I am also a realist which sometimes takes a bite out of Mr. Brightside.

I'm off to the WSOP fest for a couple of days, althought I'll have to get monster lucky to play any events. The cash games are, from what I hear, far more profitable.

Anyway, check out the thread, follow instructions, and PM me if you want to play. I'll put something together.

It?s natural to feel down and discouraged from time to time.

The important thing is to be positive and constantly maintain a high level of energy.

Now is when you need to dig deep and keep pushing toward your goals.
