New iPhone Press Event

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I hope none of the gentlemen here are going to get the gold. Didn't they say those are strictly for women?

The only colors I checked were silver/white and grey. I'm not interested in gold (or white actually).

I teased fe9000 about this before, but white is not for real men. :)

I got a case so you can't even tell it's a 5 or a 5s.

I got the last one they had at the Aliso Viejo Wal-mart. They only had one computer that could process phones and some dumb people were wasting time so it ended up taking 2 hours which wasn't fun but at least we got one and the price was lower than most places.

Best Buy for pre orders on the iPhone sounded like the way to go.

I wish Apple will allow pre-orders for the iPhone 6 in 2014. It would save me a lot of time and backache. :-[

So now that a bunch of TI folks got the new device--What is your favorite feature?

Mine in no particular oder:
1) Finger print scanner
2) Improved camera/filters/video features
3) Apps seem to load faster
4) Control Center
5) Ability to close/switch easily between apps

Coming from Android, I like the Control Center (although I had something similar in my jailbroken iPhone 4).

The fingerprint scanner, once you got used to it, is pretty good.

I forgot how much of a pain it was to call contacts on an iPhone, is there an App that puts a shortcut for dialing certain numbers on the homescreen?

Yeah... the first thing I did was set up Favorites but I like the convenience of direct dial from one of the screens, even my old Windows Mobile phone could do that.

There are a few apps out there (Direct Call is the first I could find) so maybe I'll experiment. The widget I used in Android allowed me to assign 3 tasks to a contact, so I set it up to call mobile, call work and text. Maybe I won't be keeping this iPhone for very long... hehe.

My phone just shipped from zhengzhou, it just got picked up, didn't show the delivery date, by tomorrow morning it should have the delivery date

7.01 iOS updated just released. Probably to address the security but where you can bypass the lock screen.

Not so sure about the fingerprint thing as I've used it more. I've never passcoded my phones before and doing so just makes the notifications harder to manage as you can't just slide to go to messaging or whatever alert there is because it requires a passcode or a fingerprint (and using the fingerprint doesn't allow you to shortcut from what I've experienced).

Apple sold 9 million 5s/5c phones over the weekend which tops their 5 mil for the iPhone 5 last year. They didn't break it down by model but I'm going to assume they sold more 5s phones.

Also, to make your 5s hunt easier, Apple added availability data to their web store so you can do an in-store pickup. It's available once you choose your color, memory size and carrier:

Finally.

Although I just checked and you can't find most models on AT&T anywhere (closest was a grey 32GB in Pasadena).

Smart business, Kickstarter for bandwidth and the pledges are basically product test. $15/unit, a fair price.  I've lost, damaged or just desired additional cables regularly.  We (wife & I), need two for home, two for the cars and two for work.. We got two with the phones.

I hear you on those Apple handcuffs.

Those lightning adapters are expensive. Looked up some eBay/offbrand ones and they are cheaper but reviews say not guaranteed to work.

We're upgrading everything to iPad Minis and iPod Touches so we'll have a few of thse lightning cables.

If you're still looking, my cousin was able to score a 5S at TMobile fairly easily. It was the grey one but they had 32s and 64s.

AT&T ones are the hardest to get (so I lucked out with my BestBuy adventure).

And of course, the gold color is worth more than gold itself.

My gold phone is still under "processing" with no ETA.  Silver phone should arrive next week.  I ordered morning of release... Already got charged the att upgrade fee...that's not fair :(

What!?!? Didn't setup the finger print scan? That is sacrilegious ;)

Apple knows what they are doing. Itunes Radio and finger scan to buy things is not good for my wallet.
