New iPhone Press Event

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I've never passcoded my phones so it's an extra step for me for unlock, txt message shortcut etc. Might even be faster to put in a 4-digit passcode than waiting for the scanner to recognize my thumb.

It could be handy when you're driving and have to unlock... if my phone is in the holder, punching in the 4 digit code is pretty hard

finger scan to buy things is not good for my wallet.

just like Amazon Prime, that was the worst thing i could have signed up for.

Agreed... that allows for impulse buys like the ones iacrenter mentioned above.

Here's the kicker - i wonder if folks will still use the "account hacked" excuse for when they text / tweet / FB something they regret later...

Assuming you don't use a home computer, that's obviously not possible if your finger print unlocks the phone....

I'm a technology sucker and also have Amazon Prime as well. My wife enjoys online buying with free two day delivery and my kids are streaming new cartoon episodes on my TV. Money is pouring out of my high speed internet  :(

my iPhone is now in Korea.. My phone has traveled to more countries than me :(

then it goes to alaska and then louisville, then ontario then to anaheim, that was the route for mine.

So after being re-united with the iPhone for a while, I do have to say that the stability is a plus. The simplicity is good too but it's a bit too simple for me as I miss customized widgets and shortcuts.

At least they added the swipe-up control center but I wish we could add our own shortcuts to it (although I do use the flashlight quite a bit).

The funny thing is I do think Apple needs to release a bigger screened phone (rumors are the 6 will have a 4.8" screen) but it was because it had a smaller screen/form factor is why I wanted it. And while Samsung keeps releasing bigger phones, their "Galaxy S4 Mini" needs to have better resolution and features if they want to capture buyers looking for smaller phones.

I'll probably switch back to Android in a year or so... unless iOS gets more flexible.

From what I remember from the SDK for iOS apps from iOS6 and up, they simplify the resolution issue for you. Meaning you can write code for the bigger 4" screens but it will work on the 3.5" too.

With LCD tech moving so fast, I can easily see them using a 2272x1280 resolution (double the 4" Retina display) on the iPhone 6 so that will ease the pain. The Android phones are at 1920x1080 right now so it's not a large leap.

What will be interesting is if they can actually release the 2048x1536 iPad mini this year. It's funny... the 7-8" size was being taken over by Android but now that the mini is there, Android is losing in that space too, even at half the cost. Apple just has too many loyal customers... and the power of a color palette.

When are they coming out with the iPhone 6?
Anytime between now and the end of the year. :)

Rumors point to May/Summer.

Doubt that. They have been pretty consistent with Sept/Oct so that they are newest device during the busy holiday season.

You forget that prior to the 4S, the iPhone used to release in June.

Apple is almost 2 years behind when it comes to screen size and they are looking to catch up.

The problem with the Sept/Oct release is that because of demand, it's still hard to readily purchase an iPhone for the holidays, so if they release earlier, they could sell a higher volume by the time December rolls around.

It may end up still releasing in Sept/Oct, but I would release as early as possible, especially if it's an all new form factor which will make demand even higher.

True. But every year there are rumors they will release it earlier and they never come true. If I had to bet I'd bet on Sept/Oct.
