My Favorite Asian restaurants in Johns Creek

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I have been to both. To gauge a good dim sum place Har Gow shrimp dumpling is a dish that requires great skill, timing and execution. The skin must be transparent, thin and some what elastic. Shrimp must not only be fresh but snappy in texture. The dumpling must not stick to the basket or fall apart. Mediocre places often use a very thick skin so it won't fall apart but the thick skin absorbs the condensation and becomes mushy. Although both places don't have the best Har Gow They are similar to Irvine's Capital Seafood, China Garden and Sam Woo.

81 Korean Americans were asked to vote which city has the best K-Town in the country. Atlanta was voted #2.

I've have dined in more than 70 different Korean restaurants in Atlanta metro and I will save you time and money.

Here are Panda's top 3 Korean restaurants in Atlanta. If you visit Johns Creek, you will know where to go.

1. Jang Su Jang :
http://www.yelp.com/biz/jang-su-jang-duluth  <- Panda's #1 choice.

2. Honey Pig http://www.yelp.com/biz/honey-pig-duluth

3. Myung Ga Wonhttp://www.yelp.com/biz/myung-ga-won-duluth- 24 hours - Best Kalbi

this is getting ridiculous. Now we are discussing about Asian food in Atlanta in Talk Irvine? when does Talk Irvine become a platform for James Park to promote his flailing real-estate business?

Honey Pig is really good here. The atmosphere is like LA inside. I wish we had Urban Seoul here as it would do really well here. Maybe I need to franchise Urban Seoul here.

Failing real estate business? lol?

Ok, I need to remain humble.....  California Court, I am just scraping by barely making it.....

I have never felt more alive since graduating college. I was born to be in the real estate business.

It's okay but way overpriced.

I have to say...if Honey Pig is the second best korean restaurant in Atlanta, there is a long way to go to catch up to Koreantown.  Honey Pig is not even close to the 2nd best Korean restaurant in Irvine and Irvine is nowhere near as good as LA for Korean food.

I am happy to hear that you are doing so well in Atlanta but this is seriously off-topic.
This is about Food and Dining... and the title says "... in Johns Creek"... so if it bothers anyone, you don't have to click on it.

Personally, I'm always interested in hearing about other areas, especially from a guy who loved Irvine so much.

So what's the best All You Can Eat Korean BBQ in Johns Creek?

Irvinecommter,

Comparing LA K-restaurants to Atlanta K-restaurants we have long ways to go. Comparing Korean restaurants in Irvine vs Johns Creek and 10 mile radius, we will blow away Irvine any day, any time.

IHO,
I am not too much into Korean BBQ buffets, but Cho Won is popular here right next to Jang Su Jang. Jang Su Jang is amazing and I highly recommend anyone visiting Atlanta to dine there.

You guys have a Rice Cake Cafe in Irvine? This place is really popular for the both the young and old crowd. This place is sort of Atlanta's version of 85 degrees. I am not sure what it is like in Irvine, but there are a lot of 24 hour places here.

I had a craving for some good Pho at 2am in the morning on a Monday. Drove out to "I LOVE PHO" and I was surprised to see so many peeps there having some good Pho. I wasn't a big fan of Pho until I discovered this place.

Irvine has pretty decent Korean restaurants.  I don't know when the last time you have been here but there are plenty of good one there.  If you are talking about a 10 mile radius, you have to include Fullerton as well and there are very good Korea restaurants there as well.  Again, if Honey Pig no. 2 on your list, the rest of the list doesn't inspire much confidence.

Irvine is clearly not your place for 24 hour food but if you want pho drive to Garden Grove.  Pretty sure you can't beat the pho in GG.

Irvinecommuter,

Last time I was in Irvine was to check out the 2010 "Hong Kong" Collection... sorry I mean to say to "Woodbury".. and selection of Korean restaurants in Irvine was pretty sad, I had to run to Fullerton to get some good Korean food.

I accept your challenge.

Please list your top ten Korean restaurants in Irvine and I will list mine.

To make the comparison fair apples, we need to go by population. Irvine is 210,000 while Johns Creek is only 76,000. So we have to compare best Korean restaurants only within the boundaries of Irvine, and my boundaries are Johns Creek, Suwanee, & Duluth.

You up for the challenge?  8)

It's hard for me to figure out how far out we're going but in no particular order

Ye Dang (Tustin)
Korea House
Seoul Haus
All that BBQ
Gen
Koba (Culver)
Urban Seoul

The Fresh Roll House for kimbap.

I don't like Tang 190 but it is getting excellent review.  Haven't tried Yigah but heard great things about it.  I used to go to DooRe  quite a lot but quality has gone downhill.  Korea House got a new owner and the food is much better now.

Honey Pig is fine...but it's not nearly as good as All that BBQ or Gen.  Shik Do Rak would be no. 3 on the Korean BBQ list.

Baby:

I have no doubt that you are enjoying your time in Georgia but it is really hard to compare with the variety and quality of food you have in LA/OC.

Chinese:  SVG is clearly the best but even in Irvine, the quality of Chinese food has gone way up.  Capital Seafood, SW, Tasty Noodle, Tasty House, 85 degrees are all excellent.  Only thing missing is a HK cafe place.

Korean:  Already discussed

Japanese:  The food court at Murakai is quite good, Taiko is always popular, Honda-ya is in Tustin, Makino is also good.

Vietnamese:  A little weak but serviceable.  Plenty of decent pho places and GG is about 10 minutes away.

I would say that Thai food is hard to get in Irvine but Thai food is hard to get in many place.  There are also some excellent Thai food places in GG.
