I just don't get it...?  Don't they remember the Storm?  It was a disaster...?  BB users want a physical keyboard... I'm still pulling for RIM, but why do they have to keep shooting themselves in the foot...!

I agree... RIM should continue to do their keyboard phones and just figure out a way to make the touch screen interface work better.

Isn't BB10 the same UI as the QNX one on the PlayBook?

Go Android...!

RC's tips on how to watch a movie on your commute...

Warning:  This is very dangerous and takes a lot of practice; but if done right, I personally feel that watching a movie is less dangerous than engaging in a conversation or texting while driving.

There are a lot of things you can do with your hour commute especially with your Android device...  here is how:

1)  Don't be in a rush - leave plenty of time to get somewhere, you need that calm feeling inside, where there is absolutely no stress.  Makes for a better movie experience also.

2)  Best if alone in car.  I don't know about you, but my driving skills almost goes out the window when the wife rides along with me.  She does stress me out and is totally a back-seat driver.  I'm in my element and zone when I'm alone.

3)  Have your device ready, movie picked out, know where things plug in where, not have tangled wires, and such.  Know how to pause the movie, where the volume button is and such...

4)  Use earphones, so I know when a call or text is coming in; plus it's a better experience with earphones due to traffic noise.  However, I usually only have one ear plug on.

5)  Stay in the slow lanes, what you want is consistent traffic flow, none of this start & stop.  I try never to go above 50mph period.

6)  I like to keep at least 7+ seconds behind the front vehicle.

7)  It doesn't feel like it, but I glance up at traffic almost every other second.  That really doesn't disrupt the movie experience.

#8)  I love traffic, the slower, the heavier the better; keep my distance, and just enjoy the ride.

9)  Keep your device just below where a police officer can spot it.  I do noticed that police aren't really around during rush hour as opposed to during the day when I was out in the field.

10)  I like to hold the device with one hand, while driving with the other.  I've played with car holders, setting the thing on the dashboard, but just holding the thing has been the most natural and I don't get tired at all.

11)  I like having the movie downloaded, .m4p format; I don't like streaming even though I have 4G; less interruptions and reliable, fast loading.  I can quickly rewind and fast forward; & I don't worry about using data.  Android also keeps a bookmark of where you left off, and resumes from there even though you started three, four movies at the same time.

Remember, I lived out of my car for years.  It was my office, desk, cubicle, kitchen, conference room for almost 8 years.  My brain is re-wired to multi-task at least three things almost all the time.  So I have plenty of practice.  I don't let traffic stress me out, I love being in side my car, and I enjoy the feeling of being productive while driving.  There were a lot more dangerous things that I've done in my car, such as looking up pages of a catalog, while on the phone with a client; trying to write part numbers, and take orders; try to trouble shot technical-frustrating details while being late; texting while driving and being completely chewed out from a client and emotional while driving.

Watching a movie has been one of the most enjoyable activities since going back to a desk job.  It's MY time, to recoup from the workday before being ON with the kid.  I do take every caution while doing it but I don't recommend it if you don't feel 100% comfortable.

Saying all this... this is what I watch coming in this morning...  Absolutely a beautiful film, I especially love the houses, the neighborhood, - 50s American Texas heartland; large lots, tree-lined streets...  the kind of place where I love to settle down; definitively not Irvine...

Wow, no way would I drive and watch a movie.  Listening to NPR or something else is one thing where I can engage but keep my eyes on the road, but having to keep my eyes on a movie and the road... nope.

it didn't really hit me until recently... but the Galaxy Nexus has the same screen resolution/pixel density as some 32" HD TVs out there...

Pretty crazy to think, how they can fit the same capabilities of a 32 incher into my 4.65 inch screen...

don't really watch much video, and if I do, it is usually some cartoon with the kid, but oh, my, oh my...

Flick on the HQ - Youtube Trailers... the screen goes fully optimized, landscape - widescreen & bam... I'm in a movie theater...

It's going to be good weekend... looks like -300- the movie in HD just finished downloading... all of it in it's 3 gigabyte glory...

No movie theater would have a 4.65 in screen.

You talked about paying extra for hardware so that conditions for workers in China would improve, how about paying for some of those movies you watch?  :-X

not even going to justify it... been waiting all week for someone to call me out...  I know it's wrong, and old habits are hard to break... funny reading some of those #600 something pirate bay comments of the sentencing this week...

...about freedom, censorship and copyrighting...

I have paid for a lot of content and I have stacks and stack of old DVDs but I'm just lazy to rip them; but yup, that doesn't make it right; I do wish someone would finally make a legal-paid movie download service available, cause; I hate to -rent- and have to watch it within a certain time frame, and everyone who is a parent here knows that we don't get a straight two-hour chunk of time anywhere, anytime, ever, again...!

yes, considering all the illegal crap I've done in my lifetime, downloading a few movies for old time sake seems like a drop in the bucket; and in the grand scheme of things there are far greater atrocities and injustices in this world, than downloading movies, but yes that doesn't make it right...

and, I know this, and I know the kid is watching and learning everything I'm doing, right or wrong; so, this season will again pass; and I will go another few years without pirating, and to be honest, I'll probably return again one day...

You can use Vudu or CinemaNow. Or Amazon Instant Video or Google Video.

Still more expensive than RedBox... but more convenient than having to drive to your grocery store and stand behind 3 people hoping they don't rent the last copy of The Tree of Life.

We use Netflix quite a bit... which is why I said that they need to figure out a PPV model to keep Redbox off of them. If they can do $2-$3 instant rental streaming... that would work for me.

Studios can't seem to understand that music has successfully transitioned to digital downloads and they don't have a choice but to follow. People will still watch *good* movies in theaters... people usually download the middle-tier movies that they don't feel it's worth paying for.

I hate little scraps of paper with a passion.  But unfortunately, unless I get a android tablet with a s-pen anytime soon, I too will be forced to continue to write myself quick notes here and there.

For all the technology out there, sometimes a post-it note pad just gets the job done.  And that shopping list is not just a post-it, its the back of a receipt, its on the back of that envelope.  Its maddening, its everywhere, its ubiquitous; and this has got to stop.

I have been using the Android camera for all sorts of note-taking.  That Costco grocery list?  Why, just take a picture and there you go; attach that to gmail and I have an archive of what I bought on which date.

That special can of nuts from Ralphs that my wife loves?  Take a picture, DONE!  I been taking pictures of billboards if there are information that I need to reference in the future; a Poster of an upcoming event or a Bulletin Board at church; snap it and done...

PS gave me a great idea the other day; I've now take picture of forms or documents that I want to quick access to for future reference.  Insurance forms; prescriptions, business cards; and receipts.  Quality is excellent and I reproduce the document if I need to print it out again...

Take a picture, and shred the paper...!
