Midterm Elections

Wow! What a desperate, blatant offer of a bribe to voters..."Vote for us and we will give you $6000.00."  Thank you Commissar Harris.

Democrats want to repeal Trump?s tax cuts and replace them with payouts for the poor

With midterm elections 2? weeks away and the 2020 presidential race around the corner, prominent Democrats are embracing an ambitious idea: Repeal and replace the $1.5 trillion Republican tax plan.
The proposals would get rid of the tax cuts and, in turn, funnel that money into government-guaranteed cash for low- and middle-income households.
Possible White House contender Sen. Kamala Harris announced a plan this week that would give working families up to $6,000 each year, with the option of receiving monthly payments.

This is both bad policy and bad politics, typical of Dems. Bless their hearts though. Their hearts are always in the right place. Cannot say the same for the Reps. Kamala also has an extremely dumb proposal to subsidize renters. Damn the unintended consequences!!!

Don't campaign on "repealing tax cuts." That's just dumb. Campaign on "making everyone pay their fair share." That's something everyone can agree on, even if everyone will disagree on the details. Campaign on "making corporations pay their fair share." That will work with the vast majority of the electorate.

I remain party-less...

I think it's terrible to campaign on the tax cuts, the stock market, and the unemployment rate benefiting the middle class. If your net is $10 more per paycheck, you own no to little equities, and you're working hard (possibly in multiple jobs) and therefore employed, but under-employed, this should piss you off, no?

Hedge funders and PE guys paying little on carried interest makes no sense

The entire country subsidizing real estate developers makes no sense

Like I said , socialism for the favored few , rugged capitalism for the w-2 wage workers

Dems have a winning message here if they get sense and start talking like it is . Too many policy and polite types (Schumer ) that are Just not fit for this age of bombastic politics that the republican bullies have mastered with help from a supplicant media network

There?s no excuse of not getting a Costco membership. I?ll even say amazon Prime membership. Lol

The mega rich will receive an average tax cut of $51,000. Also, they get to write off their private jet deduction. (Trump and GOP looking out for the little guy or average person? I think not)

?Ryan tweeted a link to an Associated Press report detailing how the tax bill, passed in December, is starting to deliver bigger paychecks to workers. The section of the story he chose to highlight raised eyebrows: Julia Ketchum, a Pennsylvania high school secretary, saw her paycheck increase $78 a year ? enough to cover the cost of her yearly Costco membership.

According to the Tax Policy Center?s analysis of the bill, the top 1 percent of earners will receive an average tax cut of $51,000, or about 650 times what Julia?s getting.?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vo...68502/paul-ryan-costco-tax-bill-tweet-twitter

First, if you accept their numbers (and I don't) a $51k cut for the top 1% is less of a cut as a percentage of income then the $78 bucks for poor Ms. Ketchum.  Those numbers are all baloney anyway from a lefty hack source that hates ALL tax cuts. Second, forget the fairness issue, do you really advocate cutting checks for $6000 for doing...nothing?  That my friend is communism, or a quid pro quo BRIBE!

Tax Policy Center Propaganda
The media?s go-to think tank trashes GOP reform without evidence.

Republicans face an uphill battle on tax reform, not least because opponents are willing to invent evidence to stop it. Take Friday?s Tax Policy Center report claiming to be clairvoyant about details of the Republican reform ?framework? that haven?t been proposed.

The Tax Policy Center is a joint project of the left-leaning Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute that the media routinely labels ?nonpartisan.? Its record of hostility to any GOP tax reform that cuts tax rates shows the opposite. And the latest evidence of bias is its willingness to jump to conclusions about the GOP plan before crucial details are known.

The center?s progressive economists released a ?preliminary? estimate of the GOP tax plan that claimed the proposal would ?reduce federal revenues by $2.4 trillion over the first ten years and $3.2 trillion over the subsequent decade.? Also: The top 1% of taxpayers would ?receive about 50 percent of the total tax benefit.? The press immediate broadcast this with headlines like ?Republican Tax Cut Would Benefit Wealthy and Corporations Most, Report Finds.? Political mission accomplished.

Yet the analysis is impossibly specific, given that last week?s blueprint excluded the income ranges for the individual brackets of 12%, 25% and 35%; the value of the expanded child tax credit, and when that would phase out; rates for pass-through businesses, or safeguards for abuse that may limit who can claim the income or how much; the discount rate at which cash and other corporate assets will be invited back to the United States; which deductions will be eliminated; and many other details that would be essential for any honest score.

@more: Something you don?t consider is the average guy. Which resonates with a lot of people. During the last downturn many people were layed off or had their hours reduced.

Eye, layoffs and unemployment are a part of EVERY recession in history, We are at a historic low in unemployment for ALL categories of race and gender...now having said that we WILL have a recession in the future but it won't happen before this election.  In other words it is not a winning issue right now...maybe for 2020 but not today.

My point is many people believe they understand my message and consider them self as middle class or average worker. Your message of idontcare about other people f the rest is not working. Maybe you should help your Philippines President.

I love Duterte, I actually know him.  My family, from Osmena to Guingona have been politically powerful there for many years.  Duterte is good for that country, He really does have a 80-90% approval rating there. He is the Trump of Asia.

And you wonder why aren?t the repubs running on tax cuts  ?

NEWS? Black Americans for the President?s Agenda, a pro-Trump super PAC, created an ad to support Arkansas Representative French Hill in his reelection campaign against Democrat Clarke Tucker, which claims Democrats could bring back lynchings against black men. Hill represents the state?s 2nd District, which includes parts of Little Rock and is 23 percent black.

The ad features a conversation between two black women about the sexual misconduct accusations leveled against recently-confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, claiming that the accusations are a sign of a shift toward the presumption of guilt before innocence in the United States.

?If the Democrats can do that to a white justice of the Supreme Court,? one of the women says, ?what will happen to our husbands, our fathers, or our sons, when a white girl lies on them??

?White Democrats will be lynching black folk again,? the second woman responds, adding: ?We can?t afford to let white Democrats take us back to bad old days of race verdicts, life sentences, and lynchings when a white girl screams rape.?

tax cuts are so 2017.  black people know all too well about being guilty before proven innocent, so it doesn't surprise me that an ad like this would resonate with them.

H-1B spouses? work-ban rule coming next month, feds say

Time appears nearly up for an estimated 100,000 foreign citizens working in the U.S. under a special authorization for spouses of foreign workers here on the controversial H-1B visa. The federal government, which has been promising since late 2017 to ban these H-4 visa holders from working, has just put out a notice that the new rule will be issued sometime next month.

to quote someone else on this forum, "read it again. try harder."  however, i will actually explain my position.

people are very short sighted.  neither the democrats, nor the republicans are running on tax cuts (good or bad).  know why?  it's not a "current issue".  what's important now?  kavanaugh, the economy, unemployment, healthcare, immigration to name a few.  ask this question again in 3 weeks and it will likely change based on "current issues".  tax cuts were passed and booked almost a year ago, so it's already marked down as a W and a non-debatable issue.

A?White Democrats will be lynching black folk again,?

Here is a white woman falsely accusing a 9 yr old black kid of sexual assault just this week:

Remember, from Andrew Johnson to Lyndon Johnson, the Democrats were the party of slavery, segregation, and the KKK. The Democrats have a long history of using accusations of assault against white women to murder black people, like Emmett Till, another black kid accused of assaulting a white woman.

Historically, the Republicans are the party of abolition, reconstruction, and equality.
