Midterm Elections

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Was Barack whistling loudly here?

?I come from Chicago. It?s not as if it?s just Republicans who have monkeyed around with elections in the past. Sometimes Democrats have, too. You know, whenever people are in power, they have this tendency to try to tilt things in their direction.?

Trump and cult members gushing over 4.2 percent gdp growth in 2nd quarter .

No expert said a quarter of 4.2% growth "couldn't be done."

it was done in four different quarters under President Obama, with one difference

growth in those four quarters was higher - 4.5%, 4.7%, 4.9%, 5.1%  !

Cult members have a hard time dealing w math and mean reversion . That number is coming down below 4 again by the way , in third quarter . Just watch .

ah, obama, the savior of our economy  :)

Household Income Jumps To All-Time Highs Under Trump ? Why Isn't This Big News?

Economy: Median household income is up more than 4%, the economy is growing fast, optimism is at decades long highs. Not that you'd know it, since the press is too busy trying to drive President Trump from office.

Inflation-adjusted median household incomes in July hit $62,450 according to the latest release from Sentier Research. That's the highest level since Sentier started tracking this more than 18 years ago. And if you combine Sentier's numbers with annual Census data, median household income is at all-time highs.

More interesting is the fact that median household income has shot up more than 4% in the 19 months since Trump took office. It had been flat over the previous year and a half. Over the course of President Obama's entire eight years in office, median household income climbed a mere 0.3%, Sentier data show.

Overall economic growth is accelerating as well, after years of Obama-induced stagnation. On Wednesday, the Commerce Department boosted its estimate of Second Quarter growth to 4.2%. That means average growth for first half of the year was above 3%. And if it continues strong in the third quarter ? as appears to be the case ? chances are we will see growth for the entire year at or above 3%. That would be the first time since 2005.

The only response is copying and pasting clickbait articles

When you can?t argue or refute w logic ...

And people wonder why TI traffic is down  : )

What is wage income growth recently adjusted for inflation ? Does anyone know  ?  (and please no dailycaller or Drudge Report links) .

When he took office it was as high as 4-5 percent since recovering from a recession

It then dipped to as low as -1 percent during the 2011 crisis

It then was steady at around 0 percent because of high inflation until it rose higher in 2015 -2016 to 2 percent (helped by low inflation from oil prices ) .

It has been between 0 and 1 percent under trump and most recently dropped to negative territory - since inflation is higher

the self employed people on this forum don?t see all that since they are drowning in the tax cut loot and laughing all the way to the bank , and posting memes and gifs here

For them MAGA is the manna from heaven and everyone better believe it , or face the wrath of 20 point loud font and ?boom?  :)

Back in the 80s, I had a friend who looked exactly like a Monchichi. If you were around in the 80s, you know what a Monchichi looks like. We all called him "hey Monchichi!" Can you guess what race he was?

Yah, these podunks don't realize how horrible they have it.  If they only understood the nuances of inflation indexed income they would not be so rosy about their future...can't wait til they get theirs....or not.

U.S. consumer confidence races to near 18-year high

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. consumer confidence surged to near an 18-year high in August, as households remained upbeat on the labor market, pointing to strong consumer spending that should help to sustain the economy for the remainder of the year.

People who straight up call out your b/s = elitist

People who actually argue w hard data and not gifs and clickbait copy and paste = elitist

People who aren?t part of a fanatical personality cult whose members believe everything their leader says = elitist

What did I miss  :)  Someone throw dog whistle in there too

Once upon a time, Rome was ruled by a wealthy highly educated elite who was very condescending to the ordinary Roman. One day, a charismatic leader named J. Caesar started to speak directly to the ordinary people and court their support. This was an affront to the elite so they stabbed Caesar 23 times believing that once Caesar beld out, everything would return to normal and they can continue their condescending ways. Unfortunately, the ordinary people were not happy with what the elite had done and so the elite had to flee for their lives and their leaders had to eventually commit suicide.

Elite indeed....

Two Years Later, the Elites Are Still Disconnected From Voters
For many Americans, it feels like the 2016 election never ended

This is a column about listening.

It?s about the millions of people in this country who feel that no one cares what they think or values what they do. People who believe that their voice isn?t being heard, especially by the elites in this country, whether in politics, the media, academia or the cultural arena.

Over the past few months, I?ve often used comments from voter focus groups in my columns because hearing directly from voters in their words, not mine, gives readers unfiltered insight into what ordinary Americans are thinking and feeling.

So I want to share what two voters, both from competitive states, told us in focus groups ? the first nearly two years ago; the second just two weeks ago.

One man demonstrated why people have such contempt for elites, telling us:

?The elites get their say every day. We get our say once every two years. To me, that?s an elite. They override my vote.?

Nearly two years later, a second man offered a similar view of the world this way:

?No, I don?t think my voice is heard at all. I think I?m in flyover country. I think if I was in New York or Los Angeles, it would be different. But I?m insignificant. And I think that?s why Mr. Trump?s the president ?cause there?s an awful lot of us insignificant people out here.?

Both statements are searing criticisms of the influencer class and a sad commentary on where we are as a country today.

Again just like I said - can?t type a few lines of original thought without using the crutch of a mile wide throwaway article . Maybe that?s what not being elitist means .

That argument is getting old and tired now

Didn?t you get trumps memo ? we are onto better things now like race  baiting and MS 13  :)
