I remembered that. Funny stuff, looking at the clip. So we as a country, what has happened. How did we end up having our allies hate us so much? Ahh, protectionism....

If only there were a collection of writings documenting past results of protectionism and isolationism.

Buffet (hardly a trump guy) doesn?t seem to be worried...we will be fine.

Big investors ? including Buffett, Tudor Jones ? aren?t worried about a trade war with China

Several experienced market veterans predict the U.S. and China will eventually reach a satisfactory trade deal after some short-term saber rattling.
Warren Buffett, Lloyd Blankfein and Paul Tudor Jones all agree the blustery trade rhetoric between the nations is just a part of the negotiations.

Well...we went from trade war will never happen to trade war...it's like chicken pox...no big deal.

This will put the US further behind.  Don't forget, Trump didn't launch a trade war just against China...he did it against everyone.

Too funny

Ever notice how the MAGA posts on these trump threads are like his poll numbers ... very active when he is perceived to be doing some thing right for a change

And crickets / pin drop silence otherwise ...

And am I glad my money is not managed by the financial advisors on this forum ...

Trade war was just a word until now ... the auto tariffs on imported cars and parts , if actually executed as they stand now are cataclysmic enough to cause a mini slowdown in the economy - trump still has his head (and his hair) stuck in the 80s and has gone loco.  this is what happens when adults like Gary Cohn are no longer around him and he is guided by psychos like steven miller and Navarro .

I have been a big proponent for technical support here for stocks (and advocated adding some at the local bottom back in Feb ) but the market is clearly not pricing in the impact of these tariffs which will cause a tsunami through car dealerships , retail employment , suppliers and also housing

I would be inclined to trim my equity positions and also signal a caution for anyone looking to buy a home right now.

Interest Rates will also be much lower if the auto tariffs comes to fruition -- all the mortgage experts here warning about rising rates ad nauseam may end up getting trapped in their own bond bubble :)

Looks like people are outraged at the family separation policy.

Yes, the only alternative to this cruelty and chaos was to elect a person who used a personal email account for work, so you can see why it was a tough call for many people ...

the irony  ---  of the Trump admin. enforcing misdemeanor unlawful entry because "all laws must be enforced" when he pardoned Joe Arpaio because he was "treated very unfairly" when he was prosecuted for blatantly violating a court order re: immigration actions --- should not be lost on anyone but diehard Trump cult members .

The problem for GOP is that there will never be a Trump policy the base hates more than they love Trump.  A reversal of a Trump policy, no matter how despicable, is off message (because of "winning" and "liberal tears") and therefore politically untenable.

?Sessions: Migrant children facilities not like Nazi Germany because 'they were keeping the Jews from leaving'

Attorney General Jeff Sessions dismissed comparisons of the detention facilities for migrant children to Nazi concentration camps by arguing that Nazis "were keeping the Jews from leaving the country."

"Well, it's a real exaggeration, of course. In Nazi Germany, they were keeping the Jews from leaving the country," Sessions tried to explain during an interview Monday night with Fox News host Laura Ingraham.?

Well, I am sure you could not make my minimums, but that aside, my clients significantly hail for Uber-liberal Hollywood.  (Hillary stays at one of their houses in LA whenever she is in town.) They are well aware of my political leanings. I have consistently  made them money for over 3 decades in complete disagreement with their political outlook.  It is actually why they hire me, my perspective is entirely foreign to them but when it comes to making money, they could care less.  You know my stance before the election and I had them all in while they screamed at the sky from their mansions in Santa Monica and Malibu....I get thanked for that now. In the end it's not personal...its strictly business.

what's with right wingers on this forum and comparing portfolio sizes when they cant win on logic  --  it is like a common MAGA disease

Quoting some random rich guy to convince yourself that auto tariffs don't matter, is not a winning strategy ... but hey,  anyways , you have good gig, pulling the wool over your supposedly liberal (take your word for it) client's eyes - don't let it get messed  up by  spending too much time  on this forum  : )

When did I compare portfolio sizes?  Look, I could care less about how you invest.  My focus is on my clients,  they pay handsomely for a service that they feel is money well spent.  Not pulling the wool over anyone's eyes, my scorecard is not arbitrary, return is all about math and you can't hide behind excuses.  I do have a good gig but I earn every dollar.  I get paid for being right,. You eat what you kill, or you starve, I've been doing this for 32 years successfully, you don't book that tenure by sucking at it.

if you want to keep your record intact , better hope Trump doesn't follow through with his 25% tariff on auto imports -- my free advice applies to all (whatever your bias -- conservative or liberal) -- the tariffs are NOT priced in currently by the equity markets ...

Thanks, your advice is worth every penny.  One mans panic is another mans opportunity, it's an old story but one I love.
