Masks?

Less efficient... yes... useless... no... something is better than nothing.

I guess I need to rephrase that. The articles that moretroll cited didn't mislead, but moretroll's use of the word "useless" is a lie.

You are correct. Something is still better than nothing.

I would agree that something is better than nothing.  I am vaccinated/boosted and at this point will probably only get a booster once a year at the most.

At some point reality has to take over. Covid will be here forever. People who want to be vaccinated are. Are we really going to do mask mandates in perpetuity? There will always be a new variant (similar to the flu).

Will there be a new mask mandate every time there is a new variant. What happens when a variant evades all vaccines and therapeutics, I can only imagine the reactions by governments, they will probably want o go back to square one and do another round of full lockdowns like last time. I hope that is not the case.

One of the reasons for the mask and vax requirements is so we won't have to lockdown.

So ironic, don't want to lockdown but don't want to be safe either... can't have both.

Remember how everyone was saying let the businesses decide and people will decide with their feet... not we have people who don't want to walk away and would rather challenge the rules.

Never enough.

We don?t accept drunk driving.

Choosing to not follow basic safety protocols during a pandemic is no different.

2021: 450,000 dead

All I am saying is let people decide if they want to wear mask or not. If you are vaccinated and wearing a mask, then you are doing what you can to protect yourself. I got my vaccines, I wear mask where I?m required to wear mask. I would prefer to not wear a mask but if it?s required I?ll wear it.

We always compare drinking and driving to wear a mask. You actively go out and drink and then if you drive you put yourself and others in danger. When I go to the grocery store and breathe, we?ll I have to breathe. I?m not going out and actively trying to put people in danger.

Well, your thinking is wrong. The main function of wearing a mask is to protect others from you, not you from others. This is what anti-maskers don't understand. So, if you go out without wearing a mask, then yes, you're actively trying to put people in danger.

I guess mask only work from the inside out? That is what the media/government tell you and this is the common rebuttal. How about you apply some logic and common sense? I?m not telling you not to wear a mask. Go ahead.

I?m fully vaccinated, got a booster. And I?m still supposed to wear a mask? And if I don?t I?m actively putting you in danger??

What?s the next step, criminalize going outside if you have Covid?

Just wear the freaken mask if there?s 1% chance you may save someone?s life. It?s worth it.  Selfish people like you are the maggots of this society.

Wearing the mask properly can help, and I actually agree with Calbears it is mostly to protect other people, not you. It is to stop the initial droplet from you when you talk or breath that may carry the viral load that can infect others. If not stopped by the mask initially, it is dispersed and broken into smaller particles, and that time you need very fitting N95 or even N99 to stop from inhaling in. So by this reason it is mainly to protect others.

The problem is this vaccine is not a vaccine in the traditional sense; vaccinated can still spread the virus and even with the same viral load as what unvaccined would spew out. So I can see why vaccinated become more lax in wearing mask.

Put in other words, get vaccinated to protect yourself if you feel COVID is more risky to yourself than risk from an experiment non traditional vaccine and wear a mask to protect others since the current iteration of vaccine does not stop infection and transmission.

I don?t look at is being selfish. I look at it as being practical.

It's not what media/government tells you. It's what science tells you.

Oxygen particles and the virus are actually smaller than those tiny holes in the masks. So while wearing a mask can help prevents the virus from passing through, they still pass through.

So then, how do masks help protect others from you if you have COVID? When you cough, sneeze, talk or breathe, the respiratory droplets get caught inside your mask since these droplets are bigger than the holes. In the same sense, wearing mask does help you if someone near you not wearing a mask coughs or sneezes, because it can catch the respiratory droplets on the outside of the mask. However, once the virus goes airborne, it is no longer attached to the droplets and can penetrate a mask.

Basically, wearing a mask would help preventing the virus from going airborne.

I agree but you left out the part being vaccinated and boosted can still transmit the virus so wearing a mask properly at all times is a must to protect others regardless of vaccination status. That's why the government policy that used to encourage vaccination by requiring unvaccinated to remain wearing masks does not make sense.

Glad you are slowly coming onboard to see the problems with government policy and media narrative.

So I see the resident Trump supporting moron is still a moron. If it weren't for anti-vaxx morons, we wouldn't have the current problem right now. If we achieved herd immunity back in July, the Delta wave would not have hit to badly. We had a surge in July-September because of the fucking anti-vaxx morons.

Being fully vaccinated decreased the chance by catching COVID by A LOT. And decreased the chance of transmitting even more. Get that into your dumb ass brain.

I have to say, though, that it was extremely stupid by CDC to announce back in May that the fully vaccinated could go maskless in public. Their intent was to encouraged everyone to get fully vaccinated, but all it did was allow the fucking anti-vaxx to go maskless in public as well. The economy was going to open up in July anyway. Why not wait until then to make that announcement.

Totally agree. Never should have said it's okay to go maskless... vax or no vax.

Lol stupid projection from the biased and triggered far leftists. Anti Vax mandate is not the same as vaccine hesitancy. If you are vaccine hesitant does not mean you are anti mask. These are 3 different things. It does not need to be political as well.

I bet when CDC lifted the mask mandate for vaccinated, there were more vaccinated people who complied.  If the unvaccinated are as bad as you say, they don't wear mask befor and after any way. So this is purely on vaccinated sheeple who trusted CDC, taking a not so safe vaccine but did not get full benefits from it.

Since the vaccine efficacy is weak, by allowing vaccinated population to stop wearing mask, it actually makes things worse. Look at the Omnicron outbreak in NYC with high vaccination rate and vaccine passport!

Having a 'vaccine' with weak efficacy, but telling people otherwise, is what really prolongs the 'pandemic'...

What are you saying? Arent you vaccinated.  ;)
