Will all this talk of bulls the last few days, I think I'll bite.
Am I the only one seeing huge crowds everywhere I go this holiday season?
Recent posters: Lets be reasonable. Woodbury is a new community. Just about every business is dead in new development for a while, and business is often slow even in established commercial complexes when a new business comes along or changes hands. Case in point: There is a new Washington Mutual branch in the commercial center of Jeffrey and Barranca. Its been around there for a couple of months now and is still dead. Yet the WaMu near walnut and Jeffrey and the WaMu in Quail Hill is always busy. It just takes time for people to incorporate new locations into their routine.
Back to retail: the Spectrum is busy as ever, so are both Targets, and don't even mention Costco--that place is a zoo any hour of any day. I go there at least twice a week and people are hard at work spending thousands of dollars on Christmas lawn decorations and plasma TVs. A mind boggling number of people camped out all the best buy's on Black Friday. The entire mall off OSO parkway was jam packed last night in the rain from Sportsmart and Toys R Us to Best Buy and Borders books.
Its easy to convince ones self of the huge impact housing is having on retail due to the broken housing ATM, but never underestimate the power of the American consumer.
