I think they should raze the trailer park on Jeffrey/Irvine and put the high school there.
Why would you kick my GamGam to the curb like that?

A better location would have been the old RV Sales park across from Knollwoods.

Cypress East makes total sense but it may be a problem with traffic.

I still don't know how Crean got that piece of land to build on.  Seems like a perfect site for the 5th HS.

CV East would basically make Sand Canyon undriveable.  Rather kick the traffic over to Jeffrey.  Plus it's more central to Woodbury/SG/new PA5 developments.  Kids can walk easily - eliminating some cars at drop off.  And let's be honest.  GamGams don't need to live in Irvine.  They can live in Tustin or points south!
The Grove Mobile Home park is too close to Irvine High School and farther from The Great Park where the 5th High School is supposed to serve.

The Crean Lutheran site would have been good but I still think they want it closer to The Great Park center so it really should be on The Great Park parcel of land.

neither sites are ideal. LA, CV, Portola, SG and WB residents, please voice your concern and support that Heritage Field or the Great Park Homes to be seceded to SVUSD. Not only your children will enjoy higher quality of education, it will also help your home values.

For Great Park residents, it will help lower the property values to make it more affordable for whites, non-FCBs, Qwerty's people and African Americans.

my peeps will stay in santa ana, we dont want to comingle with lower class whites, poor asians or blacks.

Crean Lutheran site isn't big enough. As it is, they are building a sports area on portola parkway - not even connected to the high school. I think 5th HS at full capacity would need to serve more students than what Crean is slated to serve.

Yeah...I guess they're looking at for capacity of about 2,000+.  Crean is set up for about 1,200.  Still, it seems like a good spot for a HS considering IUSD will have to open up a 6th HS in a few years.

Technically, Beckman High is the 5th high school in Irvine.

So we are looking at a 6th and 7th high school.

Man, Irvine is overcrowded... time to pack my bags for HomieLand.

I just hope they build a new school.. which they will have to.  I'm good with SVUSD or IUSD.. but if it's going to affect home values obviously let's go with IUSD.

Haven't heard any movement yet as well.  We'll just have to wait and see.  A new High school will have to be built regardless.  They are even saying another one after that as well.  Either way, looks like Stonegate kids will not get to go to Northpark.  ;)

Problem is that if given the option TIC would rather build more houses or apartments on the land.  Woodbury is an example.

I think the better education between IUSD and SVUSD is debatable.  Home value is a different story since that is driven by perception, not reality.

TIC commits prime pieces of each community to schools, WB, CV, SG, and PS all have or will have community elementary schools with large areas of open areas around it.  It is key selling point for TIC communities.

Please...not this again.  IUSD is demonstrably and statstically better than SVUSD.  Doesn't mean that your kid is going to be a failure in life if s/he goes to SVUSD vs IUSD but the difference is reality, not perception.

Man, doesn't anyone on this forum work?  So many posts.  The word I used is debatable, as a lawyer you should understand that.  Debatable in terms of making a significant difference on your child's life when attending IUSD vs SVUSD, because as we've seen, attending IUSD does not mean you will get into the top schools, it may in fact make it harder.  Something to be said for being a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

Just wondering, are your children school age?  Mine aren't, so I can't make a direct comment on the quality of the education around here.  Is it "demonstrably" better?  I have no experience to comment.  I put about as much stock into OC register rankings for OC schools as I do in US News for colleges.

Ain't nobody got time for IHO!

Take your riff raff back to Irvine!

Work?? That's for poor peeps....

jk... I'm a slave :(

I think parents generally will focus on getting their kids in a good environment to get the best out of them... hopefully.

Irvine will eventually have a 5th HS.. or SVUSD will get another HS.. who knows.  New lines will have to be drawn.  OH is going to take over a lot of the Northpark space so they'll need a school for the SG kids as well.

Zero chance the trailer park is going anywhere. Like a co-op. ~70 acres land there is owned by a corporation which is fractionally owned by the mobile home owners. City has no right to rezone or repurpose. So anyone considering PA5B will have it right across.

The residence there are also super active and vocal politically.  They protested against all of the developments going in around them because they didn't want to share the water.

Interesting if true. I am talking about the mobile home park near Irvine and Jeffrey. Called Groves I think. Are you referring to the same one? Thinking 70 acres prob cost ~$200mil to buy, maybe more.

He must be talking about a different one.  His map doesn't even show that intersection.

I don't think The Groves is going anywhere
