Irvine: TOO MANY stuck up neighbors!!!

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I live in Northwood2 and they are starting to enforce parking rule. What outrages me is that they are charging arm and a leg with HOA and $50 for transponders for each cars. we have four cars within family and two are already parked in garage, so why should I pay for ANNUAL fee for the other two cars? Do they really expect people to have 4 bedrooms in 3000sq ft house to only have two cars? When my husband and I bought this house 3 years ago, there wasn't anything about annual fee for parking in front of my own house, this is ridiculous! I understand that some people don't use their garage as they should as agreed upon, but what about people that do? Also, what is ludicrous is that when I walk my dog every night I don't see packed street at my neighborhood. The HOA, Professional Community Management, Inc. (PCM) is exploiting residents. What they should do is asses it according to living sq ft or bedroom, i.e. 2 to 3 bedroom condo 2 parking with one permit, 4 to 5 bedroom, two in garage and two permits, beyond that there are charges, something to that effect or something. There are other ways to enforce parking then just making residents pay after two car garage for more then three bedroom homes. I believe that they are exploiting the residents for money and this is a piss poor solution to a non existing problem, at least for my neighborhood.

One car of the street is one too many IMO. It starts to look like a used car lot. I can't stand people who camp out for weeks on end on the curb. I've got a neighbor who has 5 cars lined up in front of his house, many sitting there for months on end. He has a fugly yellow 1970s truck with a camper on top and a cheesy boat/trailer parks next to it on the driveway. Both haven't moved since 2004. Yea, it's his property but if you wanna live among civilization, at least pretend to be civilized. It's an eyesore and I've had to call the cops on him several times to get those POSs towed. All he does is rotate his cars around the neighborhood now. Not sure what's so valuable in his 3-car garage that he can't park there. Or why he needs 8 vehicles. At least show some respect for your neighbors if you can't for yourself.

[quote author="reason" date=1190930538]And barking dogs. I have no qualm about this. But several times I get IPD knocking on my door regarding this complaint. Hello! I have no dogs. Hahahha....</blockquote>

Oh I have a huge problem with barking dogs. Every day at 6:45am: WOOWoowhoo..WooWoowoo..Woowoowoo. Every freakin day an hour before I get up for work. And you know how thin and shoddy the walls of OC houses are made. Luckily my neighbor moved.

Skim, it's nice you're a considerate neighbor that parks your extra cars in front of your house, I'd rather have your HOA (and all other HOAS) crack down on people that park their extra cars in front of other neighbors houses. While I'm on the subject, maybe I qualify as a stuck up neighbor, but what I personally don't like are: Neighbors that habitually park their cars in front of other neighbor's houses, neighbors that let their dogs bark and disturb other neighbors, neighbors that hang wind chimes, and neighbors that let put portable basketball hoops on the sidewalk or street. I just like neighbors who enjoy their house without intruding on other neighbors.

^ About the wind chimes: I used to have an old-lady neighbor with a plethora of various chimes hanging in her filthy jungle of a patio and some in her front doorway. She wouldn't take them down even during Santa Ana winds and they would keep us up all night long. I brought it up to her after the first sleepless night. She said she thought I was too sensitive because she didn't hear a thing. (She's hard of hearing.) Unfortunately, she was also the president of the HOA. The second night of gusty winds, I had my husband creep over and take down the ones near her front door. Unfortunately she had a mean dog sleeping near the ones in the back. Some neighbors. Argh!! I had to put up with her for 5 years.
