Folks,

We have just moved here from the bay area and are looking for new construction.  We went and saw the new homes at Baker Ranch.  While we know a lot about Irvine, we know very little about Baker Ranch / Lake Forest.

We are looking for 2600+ Sq FT house with a 5500 Sq FT plot.

Any insights will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan

Are you White or Yellow?

White = LF
Yellow = IR

definitely not true that both parents will work in Irvine.. The are also Irvine moms that stay at home and hire nannys.

The biggest difference.. Irvine is zoned well and they keep their community on the up and up.  You won't see this in other cities.  BR.. for example.. has commercial buildings right next to it.

You're a good example.  You don't work but have a nanny watching your daughters while you drive around in your maserati and shop at the fine shops.  psshhh

I have a mexi and chinese nanny.. immersion language program at it's finest.. after that.. kid goes to soccer practice then Kumon after.  By midnight.. I give him a shot of B12.. and he's good to study for the next 6 hours.. sleep 30 min.. repeat the next day.  Ah.. to be 3 years old again.

I remember dropping your kid off at abacus and violin in between.. no more of those activities?  slacker

Honestly, Nathan, I think the best thing you could do in your situation is "try before you buy". Rent first, get acquainted with the area, give yourself adequate time to do your due diligence, and see for yourself first-hand. That experience will be so valuable to you as a newcomer. You don't want to "dive headfirst" into a big purchase.

agreed with SoCal.. get a feel for what you like and dislike.  You'll come to the conclusion that all of us come to.. should have bought in Newport Coast a long time ago.  ;)

It's never too late.  Just ask ______________ ;)

I love Newport Coast, but then recently, I have 2 friends who live there tell me they hate it there and would rather be in East Side Costa Mesa.  So really, where you live is such a personal choice.

newport coast seems like it would be (or is) full of snooty white folk. thats just my mental picture of that area. i think east side costa mesa would be a better choice. CM reminds of redondo beach.  i really liked living in redondo, no snootiness there.

Newport Coast is overrated.  You have to drive 10 miles to go anywhere.  It's like Portola Springs with a view of the Ocean instead of the Landfill.
