iPhone 6

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Every day I'm becoming more and more certain that Apple, realizing that "Peak Technology" is upon us, is morphing into a bank that manufactures phones. The mobile profit skimming payment system will keep Apple's bottom line rosier than ever, but the tech they are going to push out in the years ahead won't be as revolutionary as the iPhone / iPad was. Ask an averagel 5S owner if they really, really need a 6. My guess is that for 5 out of 10 the answer is more than likely "no" since a 5s can do pretty much everything a 6 can.

Same on the Android side. I've got a Galaxy 3. The 4 and the 5 weren't that much of a "must have" value proposition for me to get a new device. Going from a G3 to a Note 4 is more of a step up in size than reaching for some greater usefulness of the product. My G3 does what it needs to do, albeit by producing 1-1,000th the smug that other manufactures products emit.

My .02c

That's why I don't buy electronics/phones at Walmart.

The plusses about Walmart were that the phone was discounted ($184 instead of $199.99 IIRC) and they only collected sales tax on the $184 instead of the full $649 like everyone else does.

ios 8 has been buggy for me, only updated in my ipad air, radio has been acting up, download speeds has been spotty, down to as low as 5 mbps and bluetooth takes forever to connect.  None of my other idevices got the update so i'm blaming ios 8.  all connecting to same router at 5 ghz freq.

apps has not been a smooth transition as well, and is it just me or is my ipad slower?  Time for another 'forced' upgrade when the new ipad with a new chip is available.

But didn't you wait in line for 3 hours due to the Walmart worker.

about 1.2hrs waiting for some poor folk to try to buy an iPhone that was 2 years old that didn't have two forms of ID needed for a contract phone.

45mins to get the phone itself with a cross-upgrade and an employee that was new.

There was no stock at the apple store, at&t store, etc. and there were no pre-orders for the 5S. I had promised my wife a phone on launch day so it wasn't bad overall.

Here you go... Silver 64gb. I would not get the 16gb now that the next upgrade bumps you all the way to 64gb.

Keep in mind you need 5gb to install OS upgrades and you only start with 10-11gb free in the first place so you only truly have 5gb to place with.

A 64gb takes that 5gb and adds 48gb to it for a total of 53gb or 10X the space.

Verizon Availability:

16gb
none

64gb
Silver - Mission Viejo
Gray - Mission Viejo & South Coast Plaza

thanks.. was leaning towards 16GB but you're right.

16gb is too small for a smart phone. There is reason that premium phones are now coming with 32gb std. Several of the iPad games my kids have are 1gb each. If the new iPads don't come with 32gb std I'm going to be annoyed.

Good luck with your purchase. I'm a fandroid but the iPhone 6 is very impressive!

I've only had Androids and Blackberrys.. this is my first iphone.  I like Android a lot.. I just don't like how it slows and lags over time (maybe it's just the phones I had).  Was going to get the S5.. but hey, I'll keep in Simple at home and join the Apple team with the wifey.

Maybe I underestimated how dumb people can be.

The blog claims at least two of its commenters have reported incidents in which the larger iPhone has bent out of shape after being stored in pockets.

One post from MacRumors forum user "hanzoh" said he sat with an iPhone 6 Plus in the front pocket of his suit pants during a four-hour drive on his way to a wedding. He said the phone remained in his pocket as he sat during dinner, while he was dancing, and on his four-hour drive home. The phone looked like this after about 18 hours of sitting the front pockets of a pair of suit pants:

Seriously...why would you not take it out of your pockets while you are driving?  Especially a 4-hour drive?

I want a bigger screen so I just pre-ordered the Note 4. Comparison:

Screen: 5.7" 1460 x 2560 Note compared to 5.5" 1080 x 1920 iPhone
Weight / Size: 176g Note, 172g iPhone
Memory: 3gb Note, 1gb iPhone
Storage: 32gb + SD card Note, 64gb iPhone
Front Camera: 3.7mp Note, 1.2mp iPhone
Battery: 3200mAh Note, 2915 mAh iPhone
Price: $49 Note, $349 iPhone

The main advantage the iPhone has over the note IMO is that the iPhone is lot more likely to actually have the promised battery life. But of course after a year you can easily replace the note's battery - not so much with iPhone.
