Homeless camps coming to Irvine

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
According to Todd Spitzer, the transfer of the homeless to Irvine also includes all of the people at the Santa Ana Civic Center.

Tonight's community meeting has now been changed to the Irvine Civic Center and is no longer at the Portola Springs Lomas Valley Clubhouse.

Supervisors Bartlett and Nelson went in front of Judge Carter today in a special hearing and told the judge that ALL the homeless should be housed in tents in Irvine and not in HB or LN.

These guys political careers is dead to me.

Curious if Irvine could rezone the streets in and around the area as private roads, similar to a gated community, and restrict the flow of traffic down to near zero.

IPD could then stand at the entrance to this camp and do a "vigorous stop and frisk" on 100% of the people going in or out, 24/7. That might cost a bit in the short run, but it would reduce the monkey business to a very low level, and frankly discourage those who are homeless by choice to remain in Irvine. Go TSA on everyone and see what happens.

I'm thinking most people in Irvine would support a tightly controlled and well regulated (temporary)shelter for the truly needy. This could be accomplished if the will existed.

I don't blame Laguna and Huntington defending their turf, but it's pretty unreal to me that that Anaheim appears to be off the hook on this, they basically paid to get rid of the problem and dumped it on neighboring cities.  combine that with the firefighters funding issue...we are getting screwed big time

If the streets become private  IPD won?t guard them. Columbus square has private streets and Tustin PD can?t enforce traffic laws on them. Public funds won?t be used to protect private streets

Irvine already has tons of vacant FCB housing. They should round up the homeless and encourage them to squat in the new developments. That's what people were doing in Newport Coast after the banks took away people's houses and let them sit empty.

When is trump going to impose a tariff on foreign money buying up American houses?

True Querty, but 1 foot outside the private streets they can. It's a "choke point" for lack of a better term. Inside the private streets can be ruled by off duty police or veterans. Pay well, and I'm sure you'll get the right folks.

If there isn't an easement allowing the County free and full access, all things are possible.

Decent turnout at the civic center. Blab-a-thon though. Spitzer said the other County Supervisors threw Irvine under the bus so ?you guys are on your own.? He thinks litigation is the way to go.

Actually the civic center room with stadium seating were packed and hundreds of people stand outside of the meeting room with audio and video feed. It was a strong turn out. I spoke to a couple from North Tustin even turn out for the meeting. A lot of anger and concern.

I got there early tonight because I wanted a seat. Definitely encouraging to see the strong turnout.

Hopefully it will be standing room only at the OC Supervisor?s meeting on Tuesday morning at 9:30am.

BTB which seems the obvious worst?  HB next to baseball fields or Laguna right next to houses?
